The soothing sound of rain tapped away at the roof of his den. Calamitystar frowned slightly, wishing it didn't feel so lonely. He knew Stormyblizzard was Winterclan's crowned but it just felt so empty without her sometimes. However, he knew his heart rested with Fallclan. How could he ever leave it behind? He rose to his paws and peeked out the opening of the den. Through the rain he could see the clan mulling about, getting ready for their quests and for dinner that night. He smiled slightly, warmed by their teamwork. He hadn't truly found home until Fallclan found him.
Jayjack sat in front of the passing cats with his tail curled around his paws, attentive dark gaze fixed on an unfortunate apprentice near his paws. "Bardpaw! What do you mean you brought home no prey? You've been hunting all day! What were you doing, chasing butterflies? NO, I don't CARE what your excuse is," he snapped, "I CARE that you do better tomorrow. Understood?" There was a breath where the older tom seemed to be gathering himself from his rage, and he shook his head. "See to it that everyone else has enough prey before you take any tonight and we'll call it even." He dismissed the young cat with a flick of his whiskers and watched him go.
It was no secret the warrior had his eye on becoming deputy, and he'd always been pushy. Ordering apprentices into line had always been important to him, even if they weren't his own. Jayjack rose to his paws with a grunt and turned to join in preparing the dinner meal again. His gaze caught on the leader and he looked up with a quirk of his mouth that was nearly a smile, and a respectful nod. "Calamitystar! You're right on time, come join us."
A loud cough came from within the medicine cat's den as Hystericplague tucked a new concoction that he was working on into a hidden crevice in his den. Perhaps when this one was done, it would finally be the lucky one that would forever cure his cough. The medicine cat was tired of being looked down on for this cough that had plagued him since kithood, as it really didn't reflect back on him that well. He needed to finally be rid of this cough once and for all, and for that he needed some mint. Maybe. And there was a definite lack of mint in this den. He would go out to gather more herbs tomorrow, perhaps. For now, he wanted something to eat. Heaving a sigh, the lanky tom exited the den right as Jayjack called out to Calamitystar.

Calamitystar's mouth hung open for a moment as Jayjack griped at the young apprentice. A single bead of sweat rolled down the side of his face as he glanced between Bardpaw and the warrior. "Oh...uh, yeah. I'm coming!" He responded after regaining a bit of composure. His whiskers twitched with humor as he padded up to the other tom. "Dontcha think you could go a little easier on him? I mean, I'm glad you are so passionate about teaching the young how to be noble warriors and all. I'm sure they'll grow up and be extremely useful around the camp. But...uh, we might not want to scare the fur right off of them or they'll never survive winter." He ended his statement with a chuckle right as Hystericplague exited his den. "HYSTERICPLAGUE. HELLO. PLEASE COME JOIN JAYJACK AND I. WE ARE HAVING SO MUCH FUN." The call almost seemed a bit desperate...
Hystericplague paused just outside his den, flinching at the sudden loud voice. Heaving a small sigh, he tilted his head to look over at Calamitystar, feeling a small piece of himself crumble at the desperation in the leader's voice. How dare he want him to make things less awkward. Holding back another groan, the medicine cat ever so slowly, at a crawling pace, made his way over to the two cats. Oh, if he was going to save Calamitystar from this situation, the leader would definitely owe him for this. "So, what am I joining in this time?" he asked, giving Calamitystar a look that said just exactly what he was thinking.

Calamitystar gave him a sheepish grin in return, gratefulness in his eyes that he gave in. "Ah, well, Jayjack and I were just discussing... Uh, what were we discussing again?" He asked, turning to the warrior, hoping that maybe he had cooled down a little bit.
Jayjack's blue eyes drew narrow and close together as he bit back a sharp response to the leader. Had was reigning in his temper for once, because yes he could control it when necessary, and this was one of those moments. "Respectfully, sirs," his gaze flickered briefly to the medicine cat, trying not to look too disdainful and disgusted by his existence, "I was just disciplining an apprentice. If you want me to be gentler, that is your decision as the leader," he added smoothly, "but as a warrior, it's my job to provide some guidance, is it not? An opinion you may choose to take under consideration... and respectfully, that little fu- misguided apprentice needs a firm paw or he will never grow."
The medicine cat finally settled down between the two other toms, a brow lifted at Jayjack's words. "Well, discipline is hardly what I'd call fun," he muttered, giving the leader a glare before turning back to the warrior. "Well, maybe you could try that approach on Amberpaw, then. The little rat doesn't seem to hear much of what I say when he's too busy running away from me." How many times had he gone through the same lesson, just because his apprentice was too caught up being afraid of him? Too often, it seemed. Not that he really cared to remedy the problem himself. No, it was Amberpaw's personal problem.

Calamitystar could feel the tension growing thicker and the looming cloud of doom hanging over both of the cats beside him made him gulp. "Well...uh, I suppose you're right..." He meowed hesitantly with the most forced, awkward smile you could imagine. "Perhaps we should take Bardpaw and Amberpaw on a trip one day and have some fun, bonding adventure time to counteract the, uh, disciplining." His suggestion was rather feeble and he was very aware of that.
