Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
She shook out her pelt with a frown. She'd never quite get used to the fact that no matter how careful she was, she was never going to be able to navigate the tunnels without at least some dirt getting into her furs. Before she had come to the Regime, such a very idea would have been absolutely out of the question, but she was slowly adjusting to the world of dark and dirt. She was also slowly adjusting to the idea of being a leader, which meant that she needed to interact with the other leaders. If nothing else, it would allow her to play the field a little bit. Glowbeam Romance was already her friend, but there were eight other leaders in the clans, and she was fully ready to seek each of them out to see how they played with her.
She glanced around as she pulled a little bit away from the tunnel that she had come from. To most, it would seem like an average animal den, and even if they dared to enter it, they would be lost in the maze that was the Regime. Kaisra had taught her that the tunnel system connected the entire forest. She was slowly learning which tunnel went where, but she had the help of the pretty Sentinel. Other cats weren't so lucky. Still, she made her way as far away from the set as possible before she was found, simply because she didn't want to deal with a bunch of SpringClan cats getting lost. It wasn't worth sending a search party when inevitably someone came knocking at her door.
Gossamer Alessandra let out a faint sigh, before shrugging. Well, if they went in there anyways, that was their fault. For now, she had business to take care of, and that business meant talking to the head of this joint...
The soft crunch of frost tipped grass under Thistlestar's was a therapeutic sound to the trouble leader's ears. He marched on through the forest, his mind wandering past Springclan territory and beyond. Following the events of the flood and Shadow Era, Thistlestar remained unsettled. Apart from having lost his first life, the sudden birth of the Shadow Era, there was a lot for the leader to be concerned about. Thankfully, no one from Springclan turned against the clans, offering the Springclan leader much needed comfort. Long walks was one of the only ways the tom could clear his mind, but today's walk was going on longer than he anticipated.
If he would have been deeper thought, he would have missed the lightest scent that lingered in the air. His sharp green eyes narrowed more so as his sense targeted the unfamiliar scent. Thistlestar stopped in his tracks, scanning the distant terrain before pulsing forward silently, his hunting skill kicked it. He bolted through the forest, highly focused as slowly the scent began to grow more prominent. It didn't take long for the sight of a familiar cat to enter the tom's line of vision.
"Gossammer Alessandra," He spoke up from behind the she-cat, his tall frame was straight and erect as he stood many tail lengths away from the rouge leader. Despite this calm deposition, there was a air of intimidation that hung around the Springclan leaders as his spring green orbs locked onto the she-cat. He remembered the she-cat upon her elaborate entrance at the last gathering, shortly before the interruption from Starclan above. "What brings you here, alone?" He asked calmly, his deep voice thick and velvety.
Gossamer Alessandra's group hadn't been so lucky. At least one of her spies had turned, and she was sure there were other snakes in her ranks, but she didn't seem bothered by that. Perhaps it was just because she didn't have an attachment to the group. She had fully been ready to pack her bags and move on if the clans flooded, and she'd been a little disappointed when the Shadow Era hadn't succeeded. But, she wouldn't tell any of the other cats that. They had all made lives in their clans, and she could see why they might be interested in keeping thigns as they are.
When she heard the voice, she turned around to meet him with a smile on her face. She was very cute, the kind of cute that was dangerous. She was quite capable of clawing someone's eye out, and she currently had a kill list of three, but she was just so squishable. It was hard to think of her as anything but a ball of light, even though those closest to her were more than aware that this was mostly a facade. Well, kind of. She really was a bumbling idiot, but one with sharp claws. None of that mattered, though, not when you saw her smile.
"Thumblemoon!" She greeted him, before furrowing her brows. No, no that wasn't it. She was trying to get some sort of understanding of how these cats called themselves, but she was bad with names. "I mean Thistlestar," she corrected herself after a moment of thought, before lifting her chin in pride that she had remembered his name after a moment of thought. "I came by because we didn't get a chance to chat much, and I'm trying to get a good chat in with at least all the leaders once. It's better for all of us to know who's on the playinf field, right?"
The Springclan leader remained unfazed by the she-cat's sweet act, his narrowed spring, green orbs still as the rouge leader with a hint of suspicion. His tattered ear twisted slightly at the leader's mistake but the she-cat was quick to correct herself. The smallest of smiles crept at the corner of Thistlestar's muzzle, but he remained professional, straightening his slightly crooked posture. It was uncommon for non-clan cats to stumble through Springclan, but it was much less for a leader of a group to do so, especially without some company. In the time he spent watching Glossamer Alessandra's unique entrance, his ears were perked, capturing the smallest of sounds around him. He watched her peripheral vision for any inch of movement but found none. The lack of additional scents as well as noises could only mean two things; the rouge leader had a well trained group of cats hiding amoungst them or she entered Springclan willingly, without company. As much as it made sense for Thistlestar to believe his first choice, the eerie silence around them made him believe for a moment that the leader really did come alone. The small spring of suspicion only further grew at the idea.
"And what playing field might that be?" The Springclan leader acquired thoughtfully, stepping forward towards the leader. The movement was blatantly nonthreatening, but strategic in Thistlestar's analysis of the situation before him...
"You don't need to keep your guard up, friend. I came alone, I pinky-promise," she meowed innocently, offering up a paw in a scout's honor. It was amusing to her that he didn't trust her immediately; he was the smartest leader that she'd come into contact with. Most of the cats were quick to let their guard down, especially around her. "If there were cats that were coming with me, they'd have shown themselves by now. Mercenaries? Not the most subtle of creatures, between you and me," she continued, whispering that last part. "But," she rose her voice to a regular volume, "you didn't hear that from me, no sir."
She settled into a seated position, wrapping her tail around her paws. If he wanted to attack her, this was the perfect opportunity, and it was clear in the way she changed how she looked at him that she was aware of this. She really did want to put herself at a defensive though, if only so he'd entertain her for a little while before she disappeared into the tunnels again.
"The playing field that is this game of chess we all seem to play with each other. Or, at least, I assume that you all play it with each other. Truthfully, haven't been around long enough to know. Maybe y'all are checkers players," she meowed with a shrug and a wink. "I just like to get to know all of my potential friends and enemies before it gets to friend-or-enemy-time. Makes it easier if we all know at least a little bit about each other, hmm?"
As much as Thistlestar didn't want to admit, the rouge leader had good points. The forest around them was far too quiet for too long, at this point the leader would already have noted something was off if there were cats around them. He watched on as the she-cat settled comfortably into a sitting position. It was a bold move, one that Thistlestar was surprised to see, but the shock was well hidden under a neutral and rather stern expression. Thistlestar slowly melted into a sitting position himself as a visible peace offering, but his mind was still on high alert, ready for the unexpected.
The Springclan leader watching on, his brows furrowing in a moment of confusion, unsure of some of the ideas the she-cat was spewing. It was always a ride when talking to non-clan cats who had very different perspectives and concepts from his own. Despite the odd phrases unknown to him, Thistlestar got the point of the message loud and clear.
"Well, for the sake of our groups, I would hope we maintain a... cordial relationship." He spoke up calmly before proceeding "You've recently risen the ranks in your group, or at least that is what I have heard from other clan leader."
