Flamingstar limped her way back to Nightclan with the rest of her clan mates. After all the fighting and trying to stop the flood everyone had been bone tired. All of Nightclan including Flamingstar, herself, were dead on their paws. Some were half drowned, others were clawed up and bleeding. Echomelody and Shadowfeather were dragging Ericanorth's lifeless body back to the camp to give the fallen warrior the proper send off. After asking Frozenfire what had happened, the fiery warrior accused their medicine cat of taking Ericanorth's life and demanded Flamingstar do something. Flamingstar assured Frozenfire that something would be done.
As the camp came into sight, Flamingstar gestured for Firewind to take the clan the rest of the way into camp to ready Ericanorth's for her vigil. Flamingstar hung back until Turbulentsea had caught up to her. The flame colored leader stopped the medicine cat from following their clan mate's with her tail. "A word, Turbulentsea", Flamingstar mewed absently as she watched her clan begin to file into the camp. Once the last cat was into the cenote, she turned to Turbulentsea, her turquoise eyes blazing with fury despite her weariness. "Tell me the truth, Turbulentsea. Did you take the life of one of my warriors?"

TURBULENTSEA
THE CONFLICTED - NIGHTCLAN MEDICINE CAT
The thin tom's white fur was stained from blood, whether his own or someone elses was difficult to tell. He was limping on the paw that he broken as an apprentice falling into and discovering the cenote they now call home, having re injured it when he had lept over Summersolstice to save her from Ericanorth. The thin bone in his leg had healed, but was still weak. It hadn't been able to withstand the impact, and there was little doubt that it had broken once more. Even with his injury, he had spent the entire journey back seeing to their clan-mates injuries. The worst of the cats were being carried back after he had stabilized them, and the journey had been long and hard on three legs. His muscles ached, and he longed to slip into his den, take a few poppy seeds, and sleep.
He had known this was coming, surprised that she had waited even this long to make an example of him. As their clan-mate descended down into the cenote, he hung back giving order to warriors as the passed about where to take the injured and reminding several of the less injured cats to clean their wounds, and to see his apprentice for a slave to put over them. As the last cat disappeared into the darkness, he sat down, leaning to one side to keep his injured leg off the ground. He had made a makeshift splint, but it needed to be done sooner rather than later.
"I did" he didn't flinch away from her gaze, nor did offer an explanation. What was the point? Flamingstar already hated him, as much as he despised her. Any words he spoke would just fall on deaf ears. If she wanted to kill him, there was nothing he could say that would make a bit of difference.

TURBULENTSEA
THE CONFLICTED - NIGHTCLAN MEDICINE CAT
"She was about to kill Burningstar..." he trailed off knowing how crazy that sounded. Sure she wasn't the leader of NightClan now, but she would always hold a place in his heart. No matter how much Flamingstar claimed to be the true leader of the clan, he couldn't see her that way. She had obtained her leadership by ousting Soaringstar... he had seen the dark forest cats that had given her lives. It wasn't right. He had kept her secret, despite the doubt it sowed in his heart. "A cat lying injured in the mud with her back turned to Ericanorth... yet she was going to kill her anyway" the fact that it was Burningstar had fueled him, but he would have done the same for any member of his clan. Burningstar hadn't chosen to leave, she had been forced to stay in SunClan.
"Go ahead, exile me, execute me. Do what you must" his words were bitter, but there was no shame nor regret in his voice. He had reacted in according to his faith, and he wouldn't apologize for that. He hadn't meant to kill her, just stop her advance. Ericanorth was a trained warrior, she should have been able to stop him... He hated the situation he now found himself in. He hated that his actions had resulted in her death. But he didn't regret what he had done. He would have saved the former leader over and over again without fail. "My apprentice has proved herself capable, and Bleakwind can take over her training. You have wanted to get rid of me from the moment you took over. Here is your chance. No cat would say your not justified" he had come to peace with the fact he might not make it through the night. He had got his clan back safely, and he would go gladly into the open paws of starclan
Flamingstar unsheathed her claws, baring her teeth. "It was not your duty to take a life, Turbulentsea! Especially one of a clan member!" Her temper was getting the best of her now that he had addressed Summersolstice by her leader name. Her fur began to bristle and her muscled flexed. "You have betrayed your clan." She growled through gritted teeth. "Not only did you murder as a medicine cat, you also took the life of another clan mate to help a cat from another clan! I don't care if she was your leader before. Burningstar is gone! I'm leader now and you will obey by my rules!" Flamingstar lunged forward and shoved Turbulentsea into the mud and held a claw at his throat.

TURBULENTSEA
THE CONFLICTED - NIGHTCLAN MEDICINE CAT
He didn't fight against her, though he did groan as his broken leg was slammed into the mud. He let his body go limp, seeing his words through. If she wanted to end him then so be it "I would do it again" he blinked the tears from his eyes from the pain in his leg, but he still didn't fight as her claws pressed against her throat and he began to bleed slightly from their prick. He lifted his chin further exposing it to her, allowing them to sink deeper "A leader who must say they are leader, is no true leader" he spat, forcing himself to look into her eyes
"You can pretend all you like, but the painful truth is your leadership is based on lies. Burningstar still lives, and until she is gone the clan will never accept your rule. Your angry, not because of how I acted but because of who I defended. Would it have been different if it had been Frozenfire lying there? What about an apprentice from MoonClan? or a warrior from SunClan?" he wasn't afraid, he knew what he had done was for the right reason. "She was helpless and her back turned, what Ericanorth did was cowardly, is that the kind of warrior you want in your clan? A cat willing to do anything simply to win? A cat willing to murder those they have defeated just for the fun of killing them? " he paused, coughing as blood began to enter into his throat from her claws '
"Because if that the case you might as well give up your title of leader now. The clan isn't dumb, and when they learn the truth they will turn on you"
Anger pulsed inside Flamingstar as she dug her claws deeper, beginning to choke the medicine cat. However, as she listened and thought over what he was saying, it began to sink in. Turbulentsea was right. She was a monster claiming she was leader but she couldn't admit that. She released the medicine cat and stepped back. "I'm not going to kill you. That would be taking mercy on you. Besides, what use are you to me when your dead?" She growled but knowing full well that she didn't actually want to kill the medicine cat. In fact, she really didn't hate him. She was just always angry at him because he wasn't afraid of her. While all the rest of Nightclan heeded her every word out of fear, he did not because there was no fear of her and she knew that. "Go ahead, then. Tell them the truth. They are still salty with you for betraying Soaringstar and when they find out that you killed a clan mate, too, who are they going to believe? You can try to dethrone me but if I'm going down, your coming with me."

TURBULENTSEA
THE CONFLICTED - NIGHTCLAN MEDICINE CAT
As the weight on him lifted he turned, coughing up blood into the mud that now covered his thin coat causing him to shiver from the cold and the pain of his leg that still hung awkwardly from his shoulder at the wrong angle. He struggled to pull himself to his paws, determined to face her on equal terms, as he fell back into the mud with a splash. "You think I want to over throw you" he finally added allowing silence to fall between them , before laughter filled the air. Forcing himself to try again, he pushed him self to his shaky paws, still laughing which seemed rather inappropriate given the current circumstances.
His body tremored but he kept his voice steady "I have never heard something so ridiculous in all my days" he shook his head, seeing stars as he did see, stumbling and almost collapsing again "Like it or not, you now have the title of leader now. I don't agree with you. I don't like you. That mush is true" he stared her down "but cating you out now would only throw the clan into chaos. We are surrounded by enemies, how long do you think the clan would last leaderless? Sure Firewind could take over, but he is young and naive and soft. Not the kind of leader the NightClan needs right now"
"No" he snapped his voice growing firm like he was speaking to a kit "I want you to take responsibility for what you have caused here, and lead this clan to how we are meant to be and that is not a clan of murderers and revenge seekers. Yes I killed Ericanorth to defend Burningstar. Go ahead tell the clan. They will know soon enough. But in my eyes all I have done is stopped a monster. You haven't been around long enough to see how many cats she has killed, how many cats she has tortured and brought back to camp. In fact she isn't the first cat I have killed... The first was caused by her. A poor cat that she dragged back to camp almost dead and screaming in pain. She left at my paws with a choice. Kill or allow him to suffer. Is that a cat you want in this clan that you are building? I didn't even mean to kill her. All I could think of was gettting between her and Burningstar and not allowing that to happen again. I will not stand by and let another cat be tortured at her paws. Yet, I still stand here willing to accept my punishment. Even when faced with death, I will not run from my actions or past. I will stand and face them head on. Can you do the same? Can you accept what you have done and move forward as the new leader of NightClan? Or will your reign be defined by fear and suspicion. Looking over your shoulder, thinking every cat is out to get you" with that, he fell back into the mud, this time unable to find the strength to rise
Flamingstar stood there in the rain, a surprised look on her face. No one had ever spoke to her in the way Turbulentsea did and it made her think back on her actions. As much as she knew she was doing wrong, it was something she couldn't stop now. She had made too many enemies, if she revealed anything now the clan would cast her out, and everything she had ever worked for would be gone. She would lose everything. Besides, the power felt good. It was something she never had before and it was bitter sweet. How could she give it up now? She watched as her medicine cat flopped back into the mud, tempted to just leave him there. Unfortunately, something inside was screaming. Perhaps the younger version of her was trapped in there. Trapped behind the monster she had unleashed and now her younger self was trying to escape and for a moment, she could almost feel her heart softening. Even her expression softened slightly. She pushed it back and began to head back to camp without Tubulentsea but something kept trying to stop her. Hold her back and make her turn back around. She tried to push through but she couldn't fight it anymore. She let out a frustrated growl and turned around and headed back for the medicine cat. She grabbed him by the scruff and hoisted him up on her back. She carried him into the camp, knowing all of this was going to look really bad. She was careful as she made her way down the decline in the cenote with Turbulentsea on her back, feeling all her injuries screaming at her.
Echomelody noticed them coming through the entrance. "Whoa, what happened?" Her green eyes were round with shock as she rushed over to try to help.
"He fine!" Flamingstar snapped at Echomelody, making the black and white she-cat back away. "He collapsed from exhaustion" she lied, carrying him to the medicine den. She set him down gently in his nest, wincing as his body pulled on her aching muscles on the way down.

THE CONFLICTED - NIGHTCLAN MEDICINE CAT
His eyes fluttered open and shut as he watched the leader begin to pad away. Rain streamed down his face and into his eyes as finally even keeping his eyes opened took to much effort. The cold, exhaustion, and injuries was to much for his frail body to withstand. He didn't have the stamina nor strength that many of the other clan cat had. He slipped into unconsciousness, his body tremoring a desperate attempt to warm his body that was quickly becoming hypothermic. He was unaware as Flamingstar returned to carry him back to his nest
Raspberrypaw pawed at her ear trying to drain the water out. Her ears pricked at the sound of Flamingstar returning back to camp. It was late, dawn was in the sky even if the skies were grey. Since the last time Flamingstar caught her sneaking around she had been more aware of her golden fur and stayed low to the ground creeping over to the medicine cat den. She peered in, her amber eyes wide, she thought about waiting for Flamingstar to leave, but he looked hurt and approached them, "Turbulentseas, your leg doesn't look right," Raspberrypaw said. Her heart hurt as she noticed his body trembling, a paw moving over her own heart as she felt tears prick against her eyes. She urgently moved over to his side, curling up against him she snuggled into him repeatedly, "Hey you're gonna be okay," She encouraged before noticing the mud on him and began to lick away at it, "You'll be all cute and handsome again. And y'know if you lose a leg I can be your leg and you can just lean on me, I won't mind!"

The jolt of pain that shot through his body as his bad leg touched the nest forced his eyes open, a loud gasp escaping his lips. The image of Flamingstar in front him was fuzzy, as a sudden warmth appeared at his side. He looked down at his side blinking, taking him a few moments to realize that it was raspberrypaw. He slowly lowered his head, not really understanding what had just happened or why he was no in his nest. He wanted to protest the rasping tongue on his pelt, but he didn't have the strength to fight Raspberrypaw at the moment "I won't loose my leg" her murmured. Beside cleaning the mud off would only help him fight of the chill, as he continued to trembled. Without realizing it he curled in closer to the warmth as his body tried to fight.

"He'll be fine." Her sighing voice assured Echomelody, gaze lingering on Flamingstar's back for a moment as the leader carried her mentor into the den, and Raspberrypaw followed a moment later. Cana supposed she should help them... shouldn't she? Yeah, probably. Whatever Flamingstar had done to him, she should probably go check on him to make sure she didn't actually get him killed. She kind of still needed him for the moment.
Without much extra comment, other than rubbing a mud stained paw over her face in what might have been frustration or tiredness, the medicine cat apprentice trotted over, her large form slipping with surprising silence into the den. Turbulentsea certainly looked worse for wear, and she'd seen enough broken bones in her lifetime to know that was the most likely thing. Well, she'd be learning very quickly from experience, in that case. It'd take long enough to heal wrong, and even longer to ensure it was healed right. "No, you certainly won't. I'm sure that'd look bad on me, letting such a thing happen to my own teacher." Ahava mused, turning to rummage through their stores. Hmm, she thought feverfew and culver's root would be good, those were for when a cat took a dip in water, right? Or would the feverfew cause his temperature to drop more. Mmm. Best to just go with chamomile and a juniper berry for now. The calm and strength would be good until she could tell if he had a fever.
Pulling both, she turned and pushed them against his muzzle. "It's only chamomile and a juniper berry. Not sure if I should be giving you feverfew, when we're trying to get your temperature up, not going down." Cana explained, pushing up the moss around him and beginning to lick Turbulentsea's fur backwards to help warm him.
Flamingstar moved aside to allow Cana to tend to him. She wondered if anyone suspected she did anything. She didn't really hurt him that much. Most of what he was going through was probably hypothermia, right? Flamingstar figured she was in the way even though she had moved over so she decided she would catch up with Turbulentsea later after he was all fixed up. She turned and slipped out of the medicine den to think over what Turbulentsea had told her.
Echomelody gave Cana a grateful smile and watched the medicine cat apprentice disappear into the medicine den. After she saw Flamingstar leave the den, the black and white she-cat slipped in to check on her friend. Since they were apprentices, her and Turbulentsea had always been close and seeing him in such shape made her heart ache. "Is there anything I can do to help?" She asked, sadness and worry filling her green eyes.

He dipped his head and gratefully ate the herbs that she offered him, she had made a good choice. Knowing the relief would soon spread through out his body. He nosed his broken leg, feeling for the break. Unfortunately it seemed that she would be getting more experience than he had first thought. The bones were misaligned and would need to be put back and splinted. It probably would have been fine but the repeated falls had driven the bone farther out of place than the original injury hard. "It seems you'll be getting more paws on experience than you expected" he commented to Cana, beginning to feel a little stronger. He smiled as Echomelody entered into the den "Can you help Cana seen to the injured cats? I'm not going to be able to leave this nest for a while" he paused, biting his bottom lip, as his apprentice licked a particularly sore spot on his back. His thin skin bruised easily, and he knew he would be sore for days. "She is gong to need an extra set of paws"
He looked to Cana "Go on ahead, raspberrypaw can help keep me warm. You won't be able to do anything for my leg until my body temperature raises. Once I'm a little stronger we will have to reset it" he shuddered, dreading it. He knew the pain to come was only going to get worse, but right now he was to weak. "Most of the injuries seemed like shallow scratches and bites. Make sure you clean them well, and give something for infection. If there is something worse, bring them here and I can guide you" he shivered, closing his eyes for a moment from exhaustion
"I can keep you tons warm. Like a lotta lotta warm, Skypaw sometimes complains that I make her too hot when we share a nest," Raspberrypaw said as she nuzzle into him from his shoulders to his neck. She was close to being a warrior and was happy she at least grew a bit bigger to cover him more, but still she had some more growing to do and only wished she was at full height to give him all the warmth he needed. "I'm glad your leg won't fall off at least," She smiled before frowning again, "Want me to sing you a little soothing song?"
