Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Cordelia Rose had recently retired from being a scout, turning instead to the passive role of a scout. This wasn't her favorite decision she had ever made, but after her accident, which caused her to lose sight in her left eye, she didn't think that she had much of a choice. Of course, her other eye worked quite well, but her depth perception with one eye had made it increasingly impossible for her to hunt accurately. Unfortunately, this was a problem in that she was still learning what herbs did what, and now that she was visibly pregnant, she was often tired.
Still, she had work to do, and today she was supposed to work with the new guider superior for training. He was new in town, and she didn't quite catch his name when Gossamer Alessandra gave it to him, mostly because Gossamer probably didn't know the cat's name. Had she known who the tom was that would be training her, a full grown guider, perhaps she wouldn't show up, as the look the tired queen had on her face when she saw the father of her unborn kits was priceless...
He had really only half listened to the things he was told about his new role, so it was a bit of a surprise when he was approached to work with she-cat who had apparently moved from being a scout to a guider, he was supposed to train her, which would be easy with his knowledge and bonus for him if she was easy on the eyes. As he walked to where they were meeting though, the last thing he expected was for said she-cat to be an old fling of his, what fun. His amber eyes settled on her, a smile pulling naturally at his lips. "You're looking well." Each word drew out softly, his eyes lingering on her swollen stomach before moving back to her face. Those couldn't be his... right?

She tried to smile at him curtly, but even such an action was visibly painful for her. She had never expected to see him again, especially not in the Regime, her home in which she returned for support after he left. He had disappeared right when she needed him, and although she never should have expected him to stay, it still hurt. The day he disappeared, he sucked the air out of her lungs and left her to flounder. She had been inconsolable for a long time; even if he hadn't loved her, he had been her first love. By the time it stopped hurting to wake up in the morning and know that he wouldn't be there, she had realized that he had left her not quite alone... She shifted her weight.
"I suppose you are too. I have to say, I didn't think I'd ever see you again. How cruel fate is," she meowed, a far away look in her eyes. "How has the Regime been treating you?"
Ignatius let out a cough and swallowed, as if a lump had gotten caught in his throat, when he had left the she-cat he had no intentions of ever seeing her again, it had been a hard decision at the time but he had lived his life traveling and the thought of being stuck sent him running. "The Regime is wonderful, though im still adjusting..." He paused before continuing. "We both know you don't want to hear about me though." He had been quite the busy bee as of late and that information would not help make this situation less awkward. He was curious about the kits Cordelia now carried, and if he was their father, his eyes kept returning to her belly, how could he ask such a question though.

There was a bitterness in her voice as she laughed at his comment, turning her head to look away from him and into the distance. He was right, she didn't want to know about him. In fact, there was a great part of her that wanted nothing to do with him, didn't want to know his story, didn't want to see his face again. The bitterness was uncommon for her; Cordelia Rose had always been a kind soul. She supposed her kindness ended through abandonment, though. She shifted her weight, before the half-blind she-cat shook her head. What cruel, cruel fate.
After a moment, she looked at him again. He looked at her stomach, which was another painful irony to her. Of course he would question if they were his. He didn't understand loyalty. She found her tail pulling to her side. "They're yours, but you knew that," she meowed softly.
He could have ignored it, he should have, it would have been easier for them both if he could just walk away as he had the first time but her saying outloud that those kits were in fact his weighed him down. He was to go but he lived a new life these days, he couldn't run from the Regime, nor did he want to. "I suppose I did." Apologizing wouldnt help would it? She would probably just get even more upset if he tried that, even if a small part of him was sorry, a weird enough feeling for the non caring tom who was now to be the father of not one but two litters.
His amber eyes stayed on her, she was the one she-cat he had ever had true feelings for, the first one he had met and connected with on a deeper level, the relationship he had ruined because he was at the time scared of being stuck and tied down. So he left, ran as fast as he could and thus began his new life until he found the Regime.
He sat down and curled tail over his paws, "Cordelia..." he stopped, he wanted to try and explain, but how much worse would that make this, he wasn't even sure of his own feelings, seeing her after so long, so he didn't say more than her name, wanting to gather himself more before jumping into the past.

She flicked her tail dismissively at his first sentence. She had been so naive in her youth, and now she was going to bring kittens into the world that she wasn't going to be able to shelter from her own naivity. At least before he showed up, she knew she could make something up about their father. He died in a fiery accident, he drown in the sea. Anything to make her kittens proud, but those hopes were dashed. They'd learn just as she did that they weren't important enough to make their father stay. She let out a faint noise, one that was equal parts pain and exhaustion. All she had wanted to do was learn her herbs and go lay down, and it seemed as if neither of these things would be possible now.
"Ignatius," she responded when he said her name, her ears laying just slightly closer to her skull. There was so much to say, but so few words. She'd never express the ways in which he hurt her, so was there a point in even saying anything? He wouldn't understand that since the moment that she felt the first kick, she wondered how she was going to do this alone. Wouldn't understand anything. "I was planning to tell you the morning after you left." Even though it had only been under two moons since they last saw each other, two moons felt like a lifetime. "You never gave me the chance, but I have a feeling it wouldn't have changed anything anyways."
She wasn't wrong, if he had known then that she was to have his kits it would have only pushed his need to run, scared him more than just the thought of settling. "You may be right, it may not have made a difference in my leaving... I am sorry that because of me you had to go through this alone though." He didn't expect her forgiveness, part of him didn't want it because it would only make him feel worse about his past decision. He didn't know how to fix this, or if he even could, the white tom was not good with these sorts of things and the fact that Cordelia was the first she-cat he had ever truly had feelings for didn't help. He wanted to run again, his old urges bubbling back from the darkness he had locked them but he planted his paws firmly on the earth beneath him. "Will you allow me to meet them?" He was hesitant to ask, but he needed to know where his limits lay. "You call all the shots, I wont push and they never have to know who I am to them." There was a hint of desperation in his voice, he was trying hard to hide it but failing, even if his tone didn't show it, his eyes gave it away as he looked at her.

The she-cat narrowed her eyes at him. Of course she would have been right, but her stomach lurched at the fact that he had confirmed her fear. How did she manage to get into this particular situation? She didn't understand what she did. Why did he tell her that? Couldn't he have just lied? She felt her eyes water slightly, but she was not going to let him affect her in this way. Not again. She was silent for a long moment, until she heard the words. Will you allow me to meet them? The words cut to her very soul, pulling daggers across her entire being. She never thought she'd have to deal with this. She expected that she'd find another tom to raise them. "I can't stop you," she meowed with a blink. "I don't want to keep them from you. If you want to be their father, you can be their father. If you want to be their guider superior, you an be that. I won't stop you."
Be there father... Did he want that? He, for some unknown reason wanted to meet them and know them but did that mean he could be a father to them? He shook away the thought, and stood up. "I would like to meet them, but for now I'd prefer it be on your terms, I don't want to push my limits or make things any worse between us." It was the truth, the moment he saw her a nagging feeling kept washing over him, he wanted them to be okay. It could be that it had stirred those feeling he had for her when they first met, ones he had never quite managed to get over, instead simply pushing them into the darkest corner of his heart.

"I understand," she meowed, sounding just a little more broken than she had the moment before. She really had hoped that the tom would say yes, he wanted a large part of their life. It would make it that much easier on her. But, he didn't, and she felt foolish for expecting that he might. She let out a breath, before shifting the conversation. "I believe there is work that needs to be done. The commander said that you would train me..."
He noticed the change in her voice but before he could say more she changed the subject back to the whole reason he had come in the first place, his mind was still buzzing but he nodded. "Right, does that mean you just recently became a guider?" He was still learning the roles, but he did know kits were put into one of three rankings upon becoming apprentices, so the fact he had to teach her was a bit confusing.

This was yet another sore spot, the very reason she was a guider. She let out a humorless laugh. "I was retired from my position prematurely, and I refused to become a Veteran so young." Her words were flat as she looked at him intently with her one seeing eye. The other was glassy, and you could still see where claws tore into it if you looked closely enough. "Apparently, sudden onset blindness makes it hard to hunt."
Ignatius flinched at the tone in her voice, it was a slight movement but still noticeable, she had been healthy with perfect vision when they had last seen one another and although he had noticed the loss of her eye had made a note not to mention it directly for fear that it was still a sore topic. "I'm sorry I brought it up, I truly didn't know... You are still as lovely as ever though." The dusty white tomes eyes softened and there was no sarcasm or trickery in his words, he meant what he said even if the comment had slipped from his lips without his permission; another thought said allowed. Unable and unwilling to take back what he spoke, he watched Cordelia with careful eyes to see how she would react.

"A rogue took a cheap shot." She tried to sound fine about it, but hurt bubbled below her tone. It had been a one two punch. It had been two days after he left her when the fight occurred, and, well, it hadn't been pretty. "I was just lucky it was my eye and not my stomach." She didn't have to tell him the information, the reason why she had been made blind in one eye, but she knew he wanted to know. Tha, and, well, she wanted to prove that it wasn't something she could pass on to the children. She let out a sigh. "It's alright. You needed to know why I traded the surface world for this one." Her lips twitched slightly, before she heard the next words leave his mouth. Suddenly, it felt as if the oxygen had been sucked out of the room.
"Ignatius, you don't have to do this... You don't have to flatter me..." Her voice trailed slightly, and the confusion welled in her gaze. What was he trying to do? What did he want from her?
The thought of her being attacked sent a wave of anger through him, it was sudden and he couldn't suppress it quick enough, the pain in her voice as she revealed the story only fueling it further. If he had been there that day, would he have been able to protect her? Perhaps she wouldn't have had to give up hunting, but he also wouldn't have had this chance to be so close to her... He shook his head at the thought and looked at her closely, wondering if that selfish thought was how he was really feeling. Her reply to his compliment cut through the noise in his head and he smiled. "I wouldn't lie to you." She was the only one he had never lied to, yes he ran, but he never lied. The white tomes smile grew smaller and he stood taking a step closer to the expecting she-cat, his eyes more serious now. "I meant what I said, you will always be beautiful in my eyes."
