Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Dovewish blinked up at Thistlestar, longing for him to tell her that he loved her but she knew that would never happened. She forced a smile up at him, touched by his kind words. Even if they weren't mates, she was his closest friend. Still, there was no greater heart break than being friend zoned. Before she could say anything, Beedust padded up to them. Being a female, Dovewish knew the signals Beedust was showing very clearly. Dovewish lowered her ears and took a step back. "I'm, um, very happy for the two of you" she replied, forcing herself to remain calm. The situation made her highly uncomfortable and she wished she could run away. She could feel her heart shattering as Beedust brushed up against Thistlestar. Her stomach felt queasy.
The familiar sound of his mate's voice made Thistlestar turn, a big smile growing across his muzzle as he watched Beedust make her way to his side. The sudden and abrupt public display of affection made the leader flinch. Having been so used to sneaking around his clan mates, with their relationship, it felt odd to suddenly now show that side of their relationship in front of someone else. His heart raced quickly in his chest.
"I couldn't help it," Thistlestar admitted sheepishly "Dovewish is one of my closest friends. It felt wrong to tell her when we planned to tell everyone else." He looked from Beedust to Dovewish who now suddenly at a smaller distance away from them. He stared in confusion, his crooked smile still across his expression as he noted the warrior's uncomfortable body language. Slowly the confusion seeped into his expression "Dovewish, are you feeling okay?" Thistlestar asked with sudden concern, stepping forward slightly as he watched Dovewish.
She felt like she was going to be sick. "I-Im fine" she responded, slightly flinching at Thistlestar's movement. She was a rather shy and timid cat and whenever she was under pressure, she tended to be more jumpy. Besides, she didn't want him to get close enough to see the tears that were desperately trying to appear. She didn't want him to see the pain nor catch on that she had feelings for him. If he ever found out, it could make their friendship awkward and their friendship was all she had of him.
"You don't seem okay," Beedust said, fabricated concern coloring her tone. "You must be getting ill, it is that time of year. You should go see Fawnheart and get some rest." The ginger she-cat felt another wave of disgust for herself, but it was overshadowed by the territorial urge she had to claim her mate and keep other she-cats away. Logically there was no risk in letting Dovewish have her crush, but her hormones had diagnosed it as a thread, something needing to be eliminated.
Upon seeing Dovewish flinch, all traces of previous content vanished and concern hardened his expression. Before he could speak, Beedust spoke up, noting the odd behavior for Thistlestar and listened as she mentioned illness. The idea made the leader's stomach twist.
"If that's true, you better go see Fawnheart as soon as possible." Thistlestar spoke sternly, his fear of sickness taking some control of his emotions in that moment. Though his voice and words were harsher than usual, his eyes were filled with clear concern.
Dovewish knew she wasnt ill. She was faced with a broken heart but the suggestion to go see Fawnheart was the perfect excuse to remove herself from the situation. "I-Ill go see her now" she stammered before turning and disappearing into the undergrowth. She raced through the forest, tears flowing uncontrollably from her blue eyes. How could she be so foolish? Of course he didn't want her. Of course he had already chosen a mate. She scolded herself over and over, knowing that love was only in fantasy tales. It didn't exist. What she felt with Thistlestar was only an illusion that led her down the path of sorrow. She disgusted herself - to believe that anyone, let alone the respected Thistlestar, could ever like her. To believe that for once, she was so close to reaching that famous happy ending. Almost believing that this was not pretend. But she was wrong. She was fooled. And now she found herself drowning in false hopes and dreams - crushed by the iron fist of reality. Like it had been a dream all along and she was finally waking up.
As she pressed on, her vision blurred with tears of memories. The time they met in the forest when their friendship was just a sprout against a beautiful blanket of snow. Through the heart warming times when they patrolled and hunted, enjoying the company of one another - the trust they had built. All the way to the final time she had risked her life for his. All out of a love that only had a plan for destruction. With her heart broken and her tears effecting her vision, she felt something hard beneath her paws and found herself skidding to a halt on her side in the mud. She laid there, curled up and weeping as cold, icy rain began to fall. She didn't want to move and find shelter. She didn't even care. She just wanted to lay there forever and forget about everything.
