Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
"Aww it's not their fault they live under a rock," Duskslayer teased with a bit of laughter, but immediately turned serious and nodded to Bloodyrondo, "Yeah, if you can't see it then it's probably a Regime thing and we should be careful. However right now I don't see it, I just have a feeling on where to go to get out."
Duskslayer waved his tail for Bloodyrondo to follow after him as he led the way down the winding halls. The ceiling felt high, but not free compared to the wide open skies he was used to. In everything he had learned since he was a kid it was that light was valuable and holy, but darkness was feared and evil. But even walking in the dark he just knew he should be afraid of it, but wasn't. A part of him knew the way they should go, he could just feel something pulling him along in the right direction, a deep instinct inside of him knowing where the walls were and how to judge that narrowed spaces meant dead ends. Carefully he navigated them until he could start to hear the sounds of the city. He grinned back at Bloodyrondo with relief, at least this wasn't so bad after all, they were close. In the wall was a small hole, but enough for them to squeeze through. Outside the hole they could see the light of street lamps pouring in from the streets and the city sidewalk. Duskslayer let out a dramatic sigh of relief as he looked back down the dark path they had come, happy he didn't have to walk it anymore and they could get out of here, but as he did he noticed the cat again. He watched as it walked past him and further into the darkness away from the hole. His fur stood on end, a chill causing his heart to shiver at the thought of going back into the darkness. Sure he hadn't been intimidated before, but why was this spirit instinct thing trying to lead them away from the exit? Before he was trusting in it, but now it felt like it was pulling them into danger.
"My spirit instinct is saying we should ignore this exit and go into the darkness further... But y'know my mind is saying we should definitely leave," Duskslayer said looking back at Bloodyrondo if he thought the same. After all their exit was right here through that hole in the wall.
Bloodyrondo was never afraid of making a choice. He always trusted his instincts. A good idea put into use immediately was better that a great idea that took days to develop. He could always make up those days later. Right now, though, he was stalling out. The exit was right there - he could taste the outside streaming in through the crack along with several unfamiliar scents fo asphalt, waste, etc - but trusting Duskslayer's instincts had gotten them this far. Now that there was better lighting he turned to face his friend directly. His face read very conflicted but he had made his decision.
"Well, Dusky, as much as I want to crawl out through this hole right now, I trust you. So if you want to keep trusting that finicky spirit cat of yours then I will too." Bloodyrondo said, touching the tip of his tail to Duskslayer's shoulder. He had a feeling that one of the reasons why Duskslayer and him got along so well was because the other tom was his opposite. He didn't like making his own decisions, let others do it for him, "But if you insist that I choose, I'm going out this way."
"I've never experienced this instinctual guide before and I mean the exit is right there so I kind of feel we should use it right? Not gamble on a ghost to give us a better exit when this one is right here so let's just use," Duskslayer said after thinking it out a bit in his head. Still the guide hadn't come back out of the dark, it was waiting for them, but knowing the dark tendencies of his family this was probably just another thing trying to lead him into trouble. Plus if it did lead him into trouble Bloodyrondo was going to blame him. There was no use following if this way was perfectly fine even if it didn't exactly sit right with him.
Duskslayer allowed Bloodyrondo to go first since he already seemed eager and perfectly willing to leave before following right after him. It felt nice to see the light again and a part of him wondered if they had traveled far at all or were still outside of the same den, the place was huger than any camp he had ever been to. Stationed near them was a parked car and a little to their left was the door to the building wide open. Duskslayer tail raised in relief, "Oh, I bet the guide was just trying to lead us to that door, but whatever, their still within walking distance." He glanced around another time, the night was fading, "So home right?"
Still he couldn't get the sinking feeling out of his gut that something wasn't right.
Bloodyrondo shouldered his way out of the exist and felt an overwhelming sense of relief to be tasting fresh air once again. Unlike Duskslayer, there was no unease in the ginger tom, he almost never got hung up on what if's and just forced his way through life. It was a flaw but at the same time there was always a need for a cat who made hard decisions without hesitation. That being said, he nearly jumped out of his fur when he saw the monster, only to let out a sigh of relief seconds later when he realized it was sleeping. He tasted the air for familiar scents but his nose was not trained enough for that to be useful in twolegplace. There was just too many variables. He looked back to Dusky.
"Yes, let's get home." Bloodyrondo replied, deciding not to comment further on the spiritual guide thing, "But you do you really think that means we have to go through that door? We are outside now, we aught to not go back into any more twolegnests." Bloodyrondo was nearly unshakable on this but, if any at could talk him out of it, it would be Duskslayer, "I think we should try to find a way past that fence over there and try and find the thunderpath."
"Yeah that sounds good," Duskslayer said in agreement and once more things were like as they were. He wasn't leading the way anymore and instead walked by Bloodyrondo's side with his watchful gaze moving in all directions. When they got to the fence he immediately noticed a problem at the top, there was barbed wire. Duskslayer had only seen the silver thorns while he was in Primal Instinct's prison district, but knew that from how Innocentia described it that it was a painful thing to have wrung around any cats neck. He backed up from the fence a bit and scanned the surroundings once more. He could see there was an exit past the fan, but there was a two-leg now there was a two-leg by the van so that wasn't a go. He leaned down and sniffed at the bottom of the fence, pawing at the cement ground, there was no getting underneath that.
The noise of a two-leg coming up from behind alarmed Duskslayer as he pushed past Bloodyrondo to get in front of him, his claws unsheathing. With a weak feeling in his heart he spared a glance back to the van, but there was still another two-leg by the van and worse of all that two-leg had cages. He grimaced immediately recognizing the bad situation they were in, surrounded on all sides.
This was the closest Bloodyrondo had ever been to a twoleg. In fact, it may as well have been his first time seeing one, as he only had vague memories of their tall, lumbering shapes and furless peach-colored pelts from when he was a rogue kit. He unsheathed his claws and stepped around Duskslayer to be on equal footing. He knew the dark-furred tom was a stronger fighter than he was, but Bloodyrondo wasn't about to let him do this all alone.
"What do they want?!? I thought the twolegs were supposed to be gone!" He hissed as one took another step toward him. The ginger tom took a step back and lashed his tail against the fence, which startled him, he hadn't realized that he was that close to it. Bloodyrondo glanced back to see that they were literally backed into a corner. Looking up, the barbed wire loomed; that was no way out, either. He gulped. Was this really how Bloodyrondo, the cat who was supposed to someday be the High Priest of SunClan, met his doom?! In twolegplace, caught be twolegs!?
"Dusky, please tell me your spirit friend has showed you a way out of this one!" His voice was pleading, he really was afraid. One of the twolegs reached out toward him but he just hissed and swatted at it's giant pink paw, missing it entirely, of course.
Duskslayer turned to look at Bloodyrondo with a look of dread slowly unearthing in his pupils. "We went through the wrong door, it already tried to save us before we knew we were in danger."
There was little other option now, they were cornered and even though he didn't want to admit it he couldn't save Bloodyrondo let alone himself. They had lost and he didn't even know what else to do about it except attempt to get past the two-legs, but if they grabbed Bloodyrondo then forget about it. Duskslayer gave Bloodyrondo a look that said run and with all the adrenaline building up so fast his paws could practically be shaking he burst like lightning past the two-leg attempting to skirt past, but instead the two-leg shot it's leg forward, crushing Duskslayer against the fence to pin him in place so he could successfully grab him. The second two-leg was already eyeing Bloodyrondo and leaned forward to pick him up.
"Dusky!" Bloodyrondo howled, lunging after his friend. The Priest Promised was so preoccupied with protecting Duskslayer that he had forgotten that he himself was in a similar situation. The moment his paws left the ground he felt the steely grip of his twoleg dig its claws into the back of his neck. He caterwauled and twisted around mid-air, lashing out blindly now, not hitting any target except the chain-link fence to his right. The twoleg holding him put some fabric over his head and in one smooth movement he found himself shoved into something small, cramped and inescapable. He kept howling and shimmied out of his covering just in time to have Duskslayer shoved into the same box as he was, "What is happening?! I thought there weren't supposed to be any twolegs out right now!"
Duskslayer's fur was on end as he was picked up, he had heard of two-legs being very kind to cats. Thus why some became kittypets, but he wasn't too certain if they were all as nice as others described. When he saw Bloodyrondo was stuffed inside of the container he squirmed uncomfortably, but didn't lash out. If Bloodyrondo hadn't been stuffed in first he would have put up a fight, but at this point he wanted to make sure he was taken wherever his friend was going. The cage door was closed behind him as he was forced in uncomfortably close to Bloodyrondo. "They aren't supposed to be out, but they must be looking for us. I got caught by a two-leg before and the ex kittypets in DayClan said that many two-legs love cats, but some kittypets are picked out from the wild. I think they're going to make us kittypets."
He winced as the cage shifted as the two-legs loaded it into the back of the car. Duskslayer's ears flattened as the doors slammed shut and everything turned dark.
In his panic Bloodyrondo lashed out at Duskslayer, snagging his claws in his friends fur. He realized what he had done only when he felt the warmth of blood against his paw pads and his eyes widened in shock. He quickly drew away from the dark furred tom and backed into the corner with his ears pinned to the back of his head, his tail wrapped around his body as if it was some kind of security. He was always a bit of a large cat but right now he looked pathetically small, almost ashamed, not that there was much to see in this overwhelming darkness. Even if the Sun God would save him he wouldn't dare show his father when his sister commanded the sky and, besides, what could he do against twolegs? They were flesh but have the powers of the Gods, too, which unfathomable magics at their disposal. Bloodyrondo steadied his breathing. He was SunClan's Priest Promised. He shouldn't lose his cool so quickly, "... Dusky, are you okay?" He had ignored what his friend had said about kittypets, when he had spoken Bloodyrondo's mind had been too fevered. All he knew right now was that he had hurt his friend.
Duskslayer winced as Bloodyrondo's claws burned through his skin. He reached up touching where he had been hurt with a brief betrayed expression, "Yeah, I'm okay," He said quietly, his head turning to peer out through the metal mesh in despair. "When I was younger I went to visit my mom, but a two-leg locked me up just like this. But my mom, Rubyflame, Azura, and Twistedecho all jumped in and saved me." He turned back to look at Bloodyrondo, "Maybe it will-"
He paused as the cage was loaded into the back of the van. Before long the world went completely dark as the doors closed and the growl of the monsters engine came to life.
"Take a while," He said hesitantly as he lied down on the cage floor, accepting that he was trapped, "But even if we don't get out we'll have each other."
(Fun Fact: This is my oldest Bloodyrondo thread; this happened before he was Everlastingfire & even Satinlights!)
Bloodyrondo tensed when the monster roared but managed to keep his claws away from Duskslayer this time. He wanted to apologize but couldn't find the words, he was just too scared. He wasn't used to feeling totally powerless. It helped that Dusky was with him and so level-headed about it all, but something about his friend's last words deeply bothered him.
But even if we don't get out we'll have each other...
"No."
If? IF? They would definitely get out of this. Bloodyrondo was destined to be High Priest of SunClan one day, after all, and Duskslayer his right hand man if not Priest Promised. They had a future and he was not about to let the twolegs steal it away from them, "Stop talking like that, it sounds like you've already given up. We will get out of this."
Duskslayer didn't look too sure, but gave his friend a few short comforting licks.
It was late when they got picked up, whatever shelter the two men worked at had already been locked up for the night so instead they were taken back to the two-legs home, closer to DayClan territory. He placed the carrier down in the kitchen, at first attempting to slide in some water for the two of them, but seing how difficult that would b he gave up for the night and decided he would try again in the morning.
Lurking in the kitchen was another cat, bright yellow eyes staring at them curiously. The feline was very old, in fact older than Bloody or Dusky had ever seen a cat, but no surprise given how much longer a kittypet could live than a feral one.
"You should have taken the water, you'll be tired after tomorrow," The calico said, "Once he takes you to the cutter, plus all those needles they stick into you. But you both look young, I bet you'll each go to a good home, maybe it'll even be nearby," She said, in an effort to comfort them with facts rather than the fear of the unknown. For Duskslayer it only made his fur lift high that his fears were now confirmed.
(I swear we are gonna finish this roleplay someday! xD)
"We aren't going to the cutter, we aren't getting stuck by needles, and the only good home I'm going to is SunClan." Bloodyrondo snapped, his face right up against the cage's door. He'd been pushing and finicking with it for as long as he'd been left alone but had made no progress. He could tell that there was some kind of locking mechanism that took force from both sides and his paw was took large to stick through the holes and reach it. So, his only hope with this ancient wisp of a cat, whom he didn't like by default due to her acceptance - and reliance - of twolegs. It was no life to live, but he was a bit too stressed out to be preachy tonight, "If you know what they are going to do with us, then you know how this stupid cave works."
"I do, but a bunch of rowdy toms like you should get your attitudes checked at the vets. Plus it's not my problem," The calico said.
Duskslayer stroked Bloodyrondo's fur comfortingly with his tongue, "Relax your mind, we can figure out how to unlock this together. We can't seem to open this right? But the two-leg can. The two-leg had weird looking paws, they almost had claws sticking out, but they were soft. So I think we might need two paws for this. I think you can do it though with your paws."
Duskslayer gently placed Bloodyrondo's paws over the bars where he felt he needed to squeeze them through to unlatch it, "You can try up, down, or maybe one goes up and the other goes down. There's some kind of stick holding it in place that needs to be squeezed one way or another.
The calico was seriously ticking Bloodyrondo off, made easier by his desire to vent his frustrations on literally anything other than his own incompetence. He was getting more and more heated as he continued to shove his paws awkwardly through the door, making zero progress and snagging one of his claws in the process. His attempts got more and more sloppy as the seconds ticked by. It was only Duskslayer's grooming and even-tempered words that cooled him down, although even then the ginger tom was unable to process his friend's logic.
"It would be way easier for her to just do this, she already knows how!" Bloodyrondo hissed, turning his attention back to the cat on the outside, "Kittypet. I'll have you know I'm the Priest Promised of SunClan. That might not mean anything to you now, but it will, whether you help us or not. Trust me, though, helping us is in your best interest. Now open up this door!"
"You're a Forest Clan cat? I hear you're nice," The calico said with thoughtful consideration.
Duskslayer knew she must have been thinking about DayClan, it was the closest clan to two-leg place. No kittypet accepted into SunClan would ever come back to tell the tale unless given permission to and as far as he knew none had.
"My housefolk trust me to alert them when a stray tries to leave, I always get a nice reward, but if I free one of you I suppose it'll be okay. So long as you let me visit," The calico said before walking in front of the cage door, more visible this time, "Whoever's staying needs to face the back the whole time so I know you won't try to get out, but if you trick me I'll scream."
Duskslayer exchanged a look with Bloodyrondo, "You should go, you're priest promise."
