Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Green eyes blinked slowly as it's owner a young tortoiseshell she-cat moved around in the nearly dark forest. She had just lost the only family she had truly known, the rest were so far away, she may not ever see them again. Dappled as she was called, moved to go and find something to eat. She licked her diluted orange and black colored chest fur, making them smooth, and trying to get rid of the saddening thoughts that wrapped around her mind. She decided to try and hunt. It was her first attempt and she was feeling rather hungry. She soon found a mouse and slowly tried to creep on it but wasn't able to catch it. She sat down crossed and began to dig her claws into the mud underneath her paws. A sudden sound made her look up and stand up alert and ready to fight for her life.
"Whatcha doing?" a voice called out to the stranger. While his mentor was away hunting, he got permission to explore a bit. Hopping down from the tree branch he was perched on, he gave a friendly smile. From the scent she gave off, she was't from any of the neighboring clans so what would have brought her to these parts. Nevertheless, that would mean more friends for him. That is, if she wasn't here with ill intent. "What brings you here,' he asked the she-cat.
Dappled looked at the other young cat and remembering her manners, she dipped her head in greeting. "I'm trying to get some food and maybe a place to sleep." She replied with a small smile."I just lost my Mother and Father, So I figured doing something would help." She explained herself. "I come from a tribe about five to six moons walk from here. My parents and I were looking for a new home for the tribe, but I'm all that is left." She continued to explain. "I mean no ill will or intent." She said watching him.
His smile faded into a frown at the she-cat's words. 'Oh...I'm sorry to hear that," he said as he looked down, falling silent. He felt like there was more to say, but he didn't want to muss and say something that could offend her. Shadowedpaw had never truly experienced loss so he didn't know how to properly respond. Finally, he found something to say and looked up. "Um...did you need help getting food?" he asked, "I me- I mean I could catch something for you, if you want."
She blinked away the tears that tried to escape her eyes. "Yes, please I would like that very much." She replied as she gave a nod and then a yawn. Shaking her head to try and keep awake. "If possible I wouldn't mind a place to sleep after I eat too." She replied sleepily, as her stomach growled with hunger.
He looked around quickly. "I can do that for you and- and I can find you a place to stay." Hopefully my mentor will allow it. "If you could wait, I will be right back," he said as he ran off into the brush. A few moments later, he returned carrying a mouse in his jaws. Dropping it front of her, he said reassuringly, "You can follow me after you eat. You can sleep in the apprentice's den."
Dappled smiled and nodded her head. "I have nowhere else to go!" She replied as she sat down and waited patiently for him to return. After he returned she thanked him and the Cats of the Star Mountian for giving her the food and new hope. She waited and after a few minutes, she heard him return to her with a mouse. Once he placed it in front of her she thanked him and began to eat it, tearing into it as though it was her last meal.
A smile spread across his face as he watched her eat, glad he could help her out. "If you don't mind me asking, what was your tribe like?' he asked. Curiosity got the better of him since he didn't know there were other groups beyond the forest cast. He wondered what they were like and how much they differed from what he was used to. "Oh, I mean you don't have to answer that, if you dont want to." he said apologetically.
Dappled smiled at him as she licked her lips. "Well, the tribe is a big family headed by the Healer, the leader. The Healer communicates with the Cats of the Snow Mountains, our Ancestors." She began to explain to him. "Every cat in the tribe knows how to heal and make medicine, we are trained at around the age of three. When we turn six moons, that is when we learn to hunt and patrol. By twelve or more, depending on your teacher and the healer's decision, determines if you become a full tribe member or not." She continued to explain to him a smile on her face as she recalled what her Father had told her.
His eyes sparkled listening to her talk about where she was from. Wow I never would have guessed they were like some of the clans here, he thought. "Did your tribe have warriors, er, fighters that protected the clan or did everyone learn to do everything?" he asked.
Her eyes lit up at the memories of being in the tribe. "From what I know, we learned everything, and according to my Father, the Healer chose a new successor, by a small challenge that he or she would create for the students and then he would choose the best one to become his student. The tribe has hunters and fighters separated. We are given our rank when we become 12 moons old." She answered with a frown, before eating some more of the mouse he had given her.
