Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Four grey-blue kittens wept over the slain body of their mother, she had been torn apart by a badger. The kittens had been knocked around though they had been spared the worst of it. The culprit had since lumbered off. The entrance to the den had been torn open and dust still hung in the air. The scent of blood was everywhere and the crimson liquid coated the kittens as they snuggled into the cooling body of their mother. The first of the kittens stood at his mother's head, takin in her comforting smell as he looked over his three siblings. The second kept nudging her mother's shoulder not able to accept the fact that her mother was dead. The third and fourth leaned into each other by their mother's belly, taking comfort in each other. Finally when the body was cold the kittens ventured out of the den. There was light snow coming down from the sky and the sun was just past overhead. Gathered in a huddle, one of the kittens broke the silence, the four one spoke "Perhaps we should go find help." Three sounds of agreement came from the rest of the kittens. The four walked off into the snow and slowly fractured apart, loosing each other in the storm.
The dark blue tom stumbled over a root in the snow, rolling head over heels down a hill. Finally stopping he looked around for his siblings, he had those didn't he? He could not remember. Looking down at himself he could not recall why he was coated in blood. Something bad happened, he wasn't sure what though. Why couldn't he remember anything? It a panic he stood up, looking for something that seemed safe. He was only two moons old, far too young to survive on his own. He managed to regain his footing and start off again. Shakily trudging through the snow, he left a weaving track. The snow continued to fall and dusted his back. Finally he spotted what he wanted, a shelter.
Crawling under a bush, he nestled down in the fallen leaves. It was not the warmest but it was out of the weather and with the sun setting he wanted somewhere to stay. His eyes kept dropping, yet he did not want to sleep for fear he would miss someone passing by. He was all alone and dreadfully scared. Unable to contain himself anymore he began to cry and continued to do so till he finally passed out. He was awoken by the sounds of footsteps crunching through the snow. In a panic he puffed up and stuck his head out of the bush. Expecting it to be some sort of animal and not another cat he launched himself at the approaching form. His little claws and teeth did nearly nothing but he wasn't going down without a fight.
Tuftpaw crunched through the snow, his head hunched, and a pathetic looking vole in his jaws. He had tried to go out and hunt to impress his mentor, but the surprise snow storm had sent any little remaining prey deep into their burrows for warmth. 'Ugh...if only I could be snug in my warm nest in the den..!' he thought to himself. Coming around a cluster of trees, a slight scent, barely noticeable around his wimpy catch, managed to grab his attention and he slowed his pace- just as a fuzzy dark head popped out, followed quickly by a screeching bundle of fur. With a yowl of surprise, the messy brown apprentice was almost bowled over due to surprise, but thanks to his hefty body, he just stumbled backwards a pawstep. "hMM-?!"
The dark-colored kit barred his teeth and lashed his tail as he crouched back on the ground ready to pounce again. "Who are you?" He asked, realizing it was a cat, not some animal. Even still he was wary, afraid of something though he wasn't sure of what. His pale green eyes flickered between staring at the apprentice and at the ground. He so wanted to be assertive, but he did not really know how well he could defend himself. He looked almost adorable if you overlooked the bit of blood staining his fur. Angry, but not yet large enough to do any true harm. "I'll fight you if I have too." He growled, wiggling his hind end as if he was preparing to pounce. He was absolutely exhausted, mildly wounded, and not a clue as to what his name was though he knew it started with a N.
Tuftpaw stared confusedly at the little cat, shaking his head again and sitting down, picking up a snow-clumped paw and attempting to dislodge the ice between his toes. "I guess I could ask you the same- I'm not looking to fight." he mumbled around his foot, lowering it a bit and blinking slowly at him. "I'm Tuftpaw, and you're on my clans territory." Tuftpaw knew he should probably escort the little scrap off the territory, but he didn't think he could do it without feeling immense guilt for sending a helpless- or, at least, fairly helpless- kitten. Taking a deep sigh, he pushed the mouse towards the little cat. "Here, eat."
The little tom eyed him cautiously but his stomach got the better of him. He hadn’t eaten in close to two days now. Slowly he skunk forward to grab the mouse before dashing back to scarf it down a tail length away from Tuftpaw. His eyes never left the strange cat. The brown cat may not be a threat he did give him food and didn’t fight back. He took huge bites out of the mouse, his little kitten belly swelling quickly.
“What’s a clan? Why is it your’s?” He looked up from the scrapes of mouse. His tone was inquisitive, childlike wonder creeping over his fear. The two month old had seen so little and at the moment couldn’t recall what he knew. He could not even recall his name, though he was pretty sure it started with a N. Though that was not a problem currently.
As the kit gulped down the morsel, Tuftpaw continued attempting to dislodge his toes. He attempted to be cool, glancing at the kit, and utterly failing to be inconspicuous. "MoonClan." he mewed, giving the cat his full attention now. With a shrug, he finished so very strongly, "Dunno, I was just born into it!" 'StarClan what a lame answer!'
“What’s MoonClan?” He sat up to clean his face. The blue grey tom just continued to stare at the apprentice. He wasn’t sure what he wanted out of this stranger, but he wanted something that was for sure. How exactly he was going to get there he wasn’t quite sure. Perhaps wearing the apprentice down would work. He really just wanted somewhere warm to go. Plus if they had food that would be a bonus. He didn’t think he could hunt, mostly because he didn’t know how.
"It's my home, my family in a way I guess!" he chirped, wrapping his tail over his big paws. "We're right by the edge of the territory. Since you're on it, I do have to take you back to my leader, but either way...do you even have a place to go? We can probably take you in! You don't seem to be that old."
“I mean I think I have a home. Doesn’t everyone? I just think I lost it somewhere.” He looked around as if a sign pointing out where his home was would pop up. It could have been funny if he didn’t look so pitiful about it. His little whiskers twitched as he swiveled his head. “I think I’m two moons old, I’ve only seen two full moons.”
