Zakiyyah sat to the side of the ruins, keeping largely to herself, though her china doll eyes drifted over the cats with a certain sharpness that was only found in the naturally observant. Once a Regime Spy, a prodigy chosen as a tyke, no less, and now she was a mere League cat, not even having finished initiation as of yet. Of course, she was almost done, and then she'd be a huntress. But really, she wasn't so concerned with that. She was looking for Kotori, and she hadn't seen him since coming to Primal Instinct. Perhaps he was avoiding her, or maybe it was simply luck they hadn't crossed. Regardless, they couldn't stay apart forever, and the crimson devil was certain she'd spy him weaving among the ranks of the group eventually.

"Morning." The greeting was warm enough to be a legitimate one, but there was something slightly provoking to it. Without so much as a slight hint of hesitation, Elleth sat herself down right by the other she cat's side. Either the she hadn't noticed that the other she cat was looking for someone else or she didn't care, though there a sort of overwhelming arrogance to the way the she cat settled herself beside the other she cat hinted that it might have been the latter. However, there was a small inkling of sympathy that gleamed in the hunter's eyes as she looked over the other she cat too. She herself had just finished initiation, and her scars from it had just started to heal.
She subsequently stretched out her paw is a sort of exaggerated motion, giving a long lick down one of the lesser ones that traced a long, yet not very deep, line down her front left leg, before turning her attention back to the she cat again. "So, how are you?"

"Morning." Her tone was more lighthearted than her nonchalant expression as her innocent gaze drifted over to the huntress, a certain glimmer suggesting she knew could see beyond what emotions Elleth chose to display. The tempress shifted, the dress-like draping of auburn fur that covered most of her body, save for her black tail, back legs, and face shifting and catching the light. She inclined her head slightly, the scarlet lines along her ears and the braided across the top of her head like a princess' tiara, and the freckles at her cheeks glistening against the ebony fur as if it was fresh blood.
"I'm alive. And I suppose in the League, that means I'm doing fairly well, doesn't it?" Due to a particularly thick pelt, the injuries she'd sustained were largely hidden, though they were there, all the same. The scars would fade with time, but the impact they had on the feline certainly wouldn't.

"Yeah, not too much longer till you make it to hunter. Survive till then and you'll be on top of the world, right?" She said, though there was a twisted humor and irony behind her words she was well aware of. In reality they were no safer as initiates than as hunters, and equally they were at the bottom of the totem pole. Not that there was much rising unless you were one of Vera's spawns, but that made it all the more bitter of a reality. They risked their lives as initiates seemingly only to die as pawns as hunters. It was hard to say, given that fact, why cats bother to join as initiates. Elleth didn't even know why beyond her own reasons, and perhaps that was why she saw other initiates as the most curious things on Earth despite the fact she herself had been one.

"Survive until then and you're still at the bottom, but at least you're not some no-name fox fodder." Zakiyyah corrected, her shoulders rising in a brief shrug as she spoke. No one was safe in this place. Not even Vera's kin, though they were certainly more secure. It was everyone against everyone, held together by fear or common goal, for the time being. All they needed was a little push, some sort of disaster, and the fragile structure that kept them from tearing each other apart would shatter, and chaos would ensue. For now, they hadn't reached the tipping point. For now, the League forged on as it always had, dangerous and bloodthirsty, willing to kill for any reason, or no reason at all.
And she was right in the middle of it. A grievous failure of her sense of self-preservation, perhaps, but she was here now, and there was no changing it.

"Well explain it a little sadder love or you'll actually have people thinking you look on the bright side." Elleth said with a laugh that was only half teasing, because the other half was a little more than sympathetic. The league was different than the other places she'd lived. At least cats seemed to like the other cats within their ranks when it came to rogue groups, or, at the very least, they respected and tolerated each other. The league was just a huge crashing of egos. Amusing. Or, rather, amusing that is until it ended with everyone ripping each other apart. Part of her wondered if it was Vera coming in and being empress extraordinaire that had cause the rift, or if the cracks had just been growing since the very beginning. Maybe that was a pointless question, since she didn't know what it was like other than through rumors but for a few moons ago. Perhaps it was even more pointless considering there was nothing to be done about it now, and she didn't seem to see any way usefulness it finding out the answer.
"Hey, listen. At least the beds get nicer. And you get a better selection of prey, at least what from the ones that aren't sick." Again, a bit of humor and a lot more sympathy.

"I suppose I should say the same to you. Keep explaining it like that, and the clan cats might think this is a pleasant place to join up." Unlike Elleth, Zakiyyah had no sort of sympathy in her tone, just dry sarcasm, which was actually unusual for the feline. Those who remembered her from the Regime had most often encountered a much more silver tongued feline, rather than this sort of cynicism. It'd return eventually, probably.
"Regardless, are we going to sit here complaining all day, or do something?" She couldn't see her littermate in the crowd, so she supposed they could do something, even as simple as going for a walk. The she-cat stretched leisurely as she rose to her paws, her fur having an almost unnatural sheen to it that was only found in the tunnels of her old group. Her scent had mostly faded, but the smell of the underground, even now, still clung stubbornly to her pelt. It would fade soon, and then she'd have nothing left of her old home. "I doubt either of us will gain any respect by sitting around all day." A wry smile formed on her lips. They wouldn't be garnering respect in any form unless they managed to get on Vera's good side and become a proxy, but given the she-cat's nepotism, the initiate hardly expected much to come from that.

She gave a half shrug in some slight agreement at Zakiyyah's comment, knowing it was a joke and bothering to ponder over it despite herself. She didn't think clan cats would come here, but she certainly didn't want them to come. But she found the reality of their situation more important that the hypothetical, and the reality was the fact they were here, and until something terrible or awful happened, (which Elleth had silently put a mental timer on given the recent events), they were stuck here. Might as well look on the upside if they were forced to suffer through all the downsides, right?
Her ears then perked at the offer of going out, and fell a hint at at the mention of the word 'respect'. "I don't live for people's respect, I live to amuse myself. But I'd probably amuse myself more if I was out doing something." She said in a tone that was a hint too serious to be pure sarcasm. "What were you thinking of doing, or were you hoping I had some creative thing in mind?" She asked, curiosity mingled in with the teasing.

"I'm hardly considered trustworthy enough to sit in camp on my own, it seems like, so I've hardly had the opportunity to find anything interesting to do here besides patrol." Sure, she could probably find something interesting to do with her cousins, Scape and Senescence, and she had spent a bit of time with the latter, though their ideas of fun were usually really likely to get one killed, and her father had warned her of them for good reason. It was probably best for her to get to know the members of the League, make allies where she could so that she lived more than a few days after her initiation.
"So, hopefully you have an idea of things to do around here other than go on a patrol, because I'm hardly an expert at the moment." Zakiyyah could agree with Elleth's sentiment of not looking for respect, the initiate wasn't looking for it either. In fact, they were rather similar, if she had to wager a guess, in terms of what they lived for anyway. Living to amuse herself, that sounded about right for the devilish feline. A few moons ago and that would have been touched with more than a little arrogance as well. Nowadays, not so much.

She flicked her ears in a bit of common sympathy once again. She could still recall the glares from cats at the fact that she was actually allowed to walk around freely during the day time, which progressively got worse when she could go out at night. She would have liked to have said they went away, but even as a hunter she still had cats staring daggers at her. Just that now, it was harder to tell if cats were eyeing her up because she was suspicious, or just because they hated her guts. Either way, at least cats couldn't beat her half to death. Just the thought of initiation brought back a phantom pain to her left shoulder where she was pretty sure one of the prison guards had permanently destroyed one of her nerves. It was enough to remind herself that life as a hunter was still pretty significantly better than where she'd been before.
Figuring she was going have to come up with something interesting, she sat and pondered a moment. Elleth was still kind of new to the territory, and often found cool places that she soon found out weren't that cool because everyone had already found them. She figured she might be able to take Zakiyyah to one of them and amuse her based on just her pure ignorance, but then remembered something. It was kind of a long shot, but it was also potentially rather cool and just slightly potentially deadly. It just depended on if she could find it, figure out how to make it work, and see if anything would actually happen if she even managed to do all those thing. Oh yeah, and make sure she didn't find out. It was all pretty far-fetched, but hey, she was feeling lucky today.
"I have kind of an idea. There's something I've heard about from someone I can't name, but there's a seventy-five percent chance it won't work." Something told her she was probably actually underestimating her chance at failure, but she decided to continue on anyways. "If it does, I can pretty much assure you things will get interesting really fast." She was being intentionally vague, not because she was trying to excite Zakiyyah for whatever it was, but because a). She had no clue if it was going to work and she didn't really want to get the other cat's hopes up, and b.) even she wasn't one hundred percent sure what was going to happen. Interesting, that was for sure, and probably enough to make a lasting memory if it turned out to not be a type of thing that could get them killed. It was good enough stakes for her, though.

"I'll take the chances. Anything to stop staring around at dull ruins all day." She agreed readily, rising to her paws and waiting for Elleth to do the same. Now, usually, she wouldn't be inclined to believe anything a League cat said, and even now she was skeptical. The huntress could be lying and only agreed to show her something because she wanted to 'teach the initiate a lesson' or something similar. It wouldn't surprise her, given the cruelty she saw on a daily basis. Still, she was bored enough that she decided it was worth it. The worst that happened was she died, and nowadays that didn't seem like such a bad option, not that she was looking to die or anything.
"Lead the way." There wasn't much more to it than that, she simply had to believe the she-cat knew what she was doing enough to not get them both killed, and that she didn't have any sort of ill intentions towards the initiate. Her life was in Elleth's paws right now, for better or worse.

Had Elleth known the she cat's suspicions, she wouldn't have blamed her for them. Trust was a pretty tough currency to come by even in the most pleasant of places, and even rarer in a place like the league. Furthermore, her description of things probably hadn't instilled much confidence in the other hunter. It hadn't instilled much confidence in herself, either, considering it was all up to her to make whatever she was trying to make work, work. Still, her natural ego had a way of pushing her forward, and so with a quick reaffirmation to herself that she probably knew enough about what she was doing, she got to her feet and started heading for the exit. "I'll try not to disappoint." Elleth offered her five words of very little encouragement, before disappearing into the forest with the likely accurate expectation that the she cat was right behind her.
"So, I get the feeling you kind of got the gist of everything earlier, but I feel like I ought to just restate things to make sure we're clear: We're kind of messing around with stuff that isn't mine and we might end up getting into some not so safe situations because of that." After walking in silence for a few minuets Elleth had already started up again, trying to make sure she wasn't unwillingly dragging someone into a death trap. Being stuck in death traps with unwilling participants often tended to be less fun than being stuck in them with willing ones. "The good news is, the stuff this belongs to is actually a pretty nice person most of the time, so I'm going to guess they're not dealing with anything that will kill us on the spot. That gives us a bit of an advantage."
Every once in a while, as they padded through the forest, the black she cat would pause and look around, as if looking for specific landmarks. Because that's exactly what she was doing. Then, seeming satisfied by whatever stone or log or plant seemed to be in eyesight, she'd continue her navigation onward. "Sorry to be so vague by the way. Let's just say that whoever the thing I'm looking for belongs to, they'd be a whole lot more mad about someone finding out that theyown the thing we're messing with than finding out that I was actually messing with it. " Elleth explained in possibly the most convoluted sentence possible. At this point the pair had been walking enough of a ways to end up a little outside of the far end of league territory, close enough to not have crossed into anywhere insanely out of the way, (in fact, there was enough league scent in the area to suggest that this slight distance from the borders was just practically an unofficial extension of their land), but still far enough that if there was trouble, there was a more than high chance no one would be close enough to hear them scream.
Finally, coming to a small, slightly crowded area with a few sparse bushes and over-growths in what was rather, clear moor-like land, Elleth stopped. "Aha, we're here!" She said, standing rather proudly in what was a relatively normal patch of land, before throwing a glance back at Zakkiyah. "I think."
The whole place was pretty non-spectacular, and was only interesting in perhaps the fact that there was an old burnt tree stump, but the wood had clearly been rotting for so many years that it was nowhere near recent. In fact, the remains of what once had likely been a rather large and towering tree had been taken over by a plant that was often seen in the forests in and around the league, which tended to bloom flowers most of the year long. Here, however, despite the fact even in league territory the plants had pathetic wilting pink flowers on their limbs, this plant was completely flowerless despite being rather healthy in appearance. Likely due to there being no other plants to pollinate with within a few miles, but it was still slightly odd. Not worth walking almost an hour just to see it kind of odd, but a slight curiosity nonetheless. Other than that, the place would have easily been forgettable, and yet Elleth was looking over the place up and down, as if searching for something that didn't seem to be there at all.
At this point, she was so busy trying to figure out whatever it was she was trying to figure out she had pretty much forgot to realize that being brought out to a place like this, not far from the city or the two-legs place (but also them both being around a ten minuet walk away) and yet just sitting in the middle of nowhere was probably seeming pretty strange and disappointing to the poor initiate she had just dragged all the way out here.

Zakiyyah was entirely silent throughout the journey, shrugging slightly at Elleth's comments. No, it made sense alright. Whoever actually owned... whatever it was, didn't want cats realizing they owned it, and cared less, if at all, that anyone was messing around with their things. Instead of speaking, the she-cat chose to watch her surroundings, creating her own map of where they walked, should she wish to return in the future, or if it became necessary that she walk back to the League alone. It wasn't too hard, really, she'd always been an explorer, and it hadn't even taken her a moon in the Regime to figure out how to hide from those she didn't want to find her, that she may explore without interruption.
"Wow, so exciting." There was a certain sarcasm to her tone as she spoke, rather unimpressed with the place in it's current state. Of course, she wasn't so daft as to believe this was really all there was to the place. Clearly, Elleth was looking for something, something more than just this place as a whole. What it was, the she-cat had no idea whatsoever, but that didn't mean there wasn't something she was missing about the strange place, with the plant that was familiar, though she couldn't place why. All she could do for the moment was wait. So wait she did, taking the time to look around while she had it.
