Nocturne had never had any luck with conversations with his fellow Sunclan members. When he wasn't holing himself up in the Janus' camp, he was out wandering who knows where. Always looking over his shoulder to try and see who was following him. Even when they announced these horoscopes, he took it with the biggest grain of salt he could find. Still, today he found himself in Sunclan's main camp. Letting out a sigh, he hated the way these little subliminal messages made him still sit here. Like he was waiting for something to actually happen, for this ridiculous horoscope to be right.

Littlestar couldn't help but watch as the Janus stood in the main camp, standing our like a stone jutting out of the lake. While the other cats moved around chatting and sharing tongues, anyone could see how the others parted around him without really interacting. The life of a Janus could be lonely. When she had first come to the clan and had been immediately chosen to become the Priestess Promised, she had felt so alone. With her kits off playing in the nursery, and Bloodyronodo off helping NikkoNotPaw, perhaps it was time to spend some one on one time with the Nocturnsymphony. "Good morning" she greeted cheerfully taking a seat at his side "I hope the Sun God has given you good fortune this day"

Oh no. OH NO. Out of everyone, why did it have to be Littlestar? He would have taken anyone, even the annoying Priest Promised that was his brother, over Littlestar right now. With anyone else, he could at least get away with a little snark and disrespect. But with Littlestar? In the middle of camp? No way. Even if he wanted to leave, he was probably better executed than exiled. There was no way his... unorthodox behaviors were unknown to her. He knew this was a bad idea. "Ah Littlestar." He bowed his head, already about the same height as the High Priestess so he could practically kissed the grass, "He has, as he graced me with the opportunity to speak with you. I hope he will give you the same. What can I do for ya'?" Wait, that was completely all over the place. What's wrong with him?!

The way the Janus spoke was off, but the young cat was clearly nervous to be confronted by her. Was he up to something? She pushed the thought aside, preferring to give the cats in her clan the benefit of the doubt unless they gave her reason to believe other wise. He was one of the Sun God's chosen, and would not have become a Janus if the Sun God doubted what lied within his soul. "With prey running scarce, it is time that I caught a delivered a worthy sacrifice to the Sun God's alter, so that he may bless us with more abundance. Would you accompany me on my quest?" she paused and then added "of course, if Autumngossamer has assigned you to other duties, you should complete those first"
While the Soothsayer was over the Janus, the High Priestess did interact with them occasionally. She rarely ever gave them any direct orders, and usually anything she did with them was through Autumngossamer. There was little wonder as to why the young cat seemed shocked to see her. However this wasn't anything official, more of an invitation so that she could get to know the cat before her.

Moonlitnocturne was almost too obsessed with his answer to realize what Littlestar was asking him. Of course, it made some sense. There was no reason to think a Janus wouldn't want to find a suitable sacrifice to their god. It was a perfectly acceptable offer, and probably one that others would fight him for. Though he didn't think of that as his soul began to leave his body. He had no idea who or what made the decision that he was Janus material, but one thing he was clear; he despised even the idea of the Sun God. And now he had to play nice, go get him something to eat while keeping his cool around the High Priestess. This wasn't a horoscope, this was a curse.
He ought to lie, say Autumngossamer had some task for him. Not that he could remember the last time she asked him to do anything. Even if he did, would Littlestar believe him? He had just been sitting here, practically begging for this turn of events. What a fool. He wanted to tear something apart in frustration. Maybe he'd get lucky and some fox or something would attack them and he could kill it. Just to satiate the bloodlust and anger that roiled in him. "I'd love to, Littlestar."

"Very well, we will be gone for a while. Make sure you let your siblings know that you won't be returning to camp tonight so that they won't worry, then come and meet me at the camp entrance. I will go and prepare us some traveling herbs" with a flick of her tail she turned towards her den, not giving the tom much of a chance to argue. When he agreed to going and catching something for a sacrifice, he probably had assumed it would be a normal hunting patrol, but she something a little... different in mind.
It didn't take long for the High Priestess to resurface and make her way over the camp entrance as she waited on him to join her.

Moonlit was taken aback at such terse directions. He opened his mouth to argue, but Littlestar was gone before he could. A tremor ran up his spine. The voice in the back of his mind had a bad feeling about this, but the Janus knew. There was no turning back now. For now, he only prayed to no one that he would live through it. The small flame point looked around camp before spotting his brother giving out orders or whatever to a few warriors. Internally, he groaned, but he stood up and made his way over to him.
Tracking down all of his siblings was impossible, but most got the message. He wasn't sure if any of them really cared nowadays if he didn't show up. He was absent most of the time anyway. He made his way to the entrance, surprised to see that Littlestar had beaten him.

When the young janus finally arrived she tossed a bundle of herbs, as it rolled to a stop at his paws "Eat up" she purred lightly, knowing that it wouldn't taste all that great. However the traveling herbs would give him the strength needed to get to their destination. "Now don't give me that look" she snapped, noticing the way he stared at her when presented with the herbs. It was the same way her children gazed at her when she told them it was time for bed "You will be grateful for them later"
She flicked her tail as she began to pad into the tunnels "Come along now, we have a long distance to travel, and short time in which to do so"

"I wasn't--" Moonlit started but stopped himself. "Nevermind, thank you." Sure, he didn't care for herbs as much as the next guy. But he didn't really intend to give her a look or anything. He needed to make it out of this mission alive if he ever wanted to leave. So he ignored the bitter flavor and texture and ate them down. His throat craved a mouth or some water to wash it down, but he didn't let himself have any as he followed Littlestar out of the camp. Though as they walked, he couldn't dismiss this nagging feeling in his stomach.

They walked in silence for a while, before her voice broke the uneasy quiet that had fallen between them "How is your training with Autumngossamer progressing?" The soothsayer was supposed to be training the janus, but recently Littlestar had began to have this nagging feeling in the back of her mind that something was off. She hadn't seen the she-cat do much with the Janus, and she kept catching the she-cat in deceiptions. Perhpas Moonlitnocturne could give her some insight to what was going on with the soothsayer

The Janus, despite being one, sometimes just forgot he was a Janus. Granted, the circle on his head should really have reminded him a lot. But his paint needed to be redone, now little more than smears across his white fur, and he didn't care enough to have someone do it. The flames and swirls that once covered him had mostly washed off, but the black circle on his head was always there. Like, some sort of brand. He knew it wasn't best for him to speak lowly of the Soothsayer, but he really had little positive to say anyway. Besides, maybe he'd get lucky and get demoted for bad-mouthing. Who knew? "I can't really call it training. As the newest Janus, I've been getting taught of course. But it's mostly been by the other Januses. If Autumngossamer gives me a task, it's more busy work than anything. Not a lot of learning and all that. I don't tend to see her much, mostly Ruinedportrait around." He didn't want to mention the times he's fallen asleep during Skipstep's or Heavenwhisper's lessons, but she probably already knew.

After she had been caught lying during the incident with MoonClan, she seemed to fall even further behind instead of working harder as she had hoped. She didn't quiet understand why the Sun God had chosen her, but she was not a god. His reasoning would always be beyond her understanding, her duty as the High Priestess was to enforce his decisions, and ensure that his will was carried out.
"being a Janus is an honor, but it can also be a heavy burden. It is a lot of responsibility to place on the shoulders of one so young" she had only been a few moons old when she had been chosen, and not even from SunClan. She could still remember how hard it had been to learn about her new place within the clan, with all of the extra duties "but the Sun God has his reasons, and always chooses the correct cat for the role in the end" she gazed at the young white cat wondering what it was that he had seen in Moonlitnocturne. He didn't seem particularly skilled in any one thing, nor all that dedicated. She had already recieved word that he had been struggling to stay awake in his lessons. She hoped that this trip would help them bond, and spark his interest.
As the passed SunClan's border, she didn't hesitate. Her paws guiding her on the path that she had tred many times before. "Please and thank you." Moonlit spoke briefly, almost rushing through to get to silence again. After the Moonclan incident, he was a little surprised Littlestar kept her current staff. Or the Sun God. But let's be real. It was Littlestar. She probably got tired of seeing him fight all the time and made him Janus to give him some other skill. He really was only good at fighting and getting into trouble though. If the God existed, he had very poor taste. If it was an honor, he wanted that medal gone. He mouthed out an 'i guess so' but didn't even consider raising his voice or looking at her.
Oh well, getting out of Sunclan was good, even if it was accompanying the High Priestess. The warning was sweet, but he was always escaping so he was surprised he even got it. "I will, thanks." Moonlit answered bluntly.
