Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Ever since the Phenomenon event things had gone from quiet amazement to outright uncontrollable chaos. It seemed the younger cats were the more out of control their powers became. This was the meeting to try and form a task force dedicated to controlling any cats who got out of paw with these new found abilities. All clans were invited for this gathering, but only so many would come as not everyone wanted to contain this out of control new force of power.
Among the cats there was Autumngossamer from SunClan and Sean and Xuxa from Renegade Regime, the two most rule following clans so it wasn't much of a surprise to see the three there. It seemed cats were attending with or without their leaders.
Peachblush had almost skipped out on the gathering - he didn't really want anyone figuring out his power and trying to misuse it, but at the same time, he couldn't really justify not going. Not when something this unprecedented had happened, so full of potential to destroy the forest forever if powers fell into the wrong paws.
Of all the cats who had arrived at the gathering by now, there were only a few he recognised, and even fewer he'd actually spoken to. He considered heading on over to Sean and Xuxa, but he stopped in his tracks once he got halfway there. Knowing Sean, the other tom probably had some ridiculous power that could kill everyone in the clearing in like two seconds flat, or some other power that would make Peachblush want to be as far away from it as possible. No, it would have to be Autumngossamer. SunClan and DayClan were allies, it would...probably be fine.
"Interesting week, huh?" he said to Autumngossamer as he padded over. He tried to keep his tone light, but it came out a little forced, like most of the things he said now. To be fair, I did just make the understatement of the century.
Well, of course Shule had to be here. Everything was insanity, even in the Regime, and the feline wasn't going to have it. Her own powers were fairly simple, and she only realized it when she'd almost gotten crushed by a cave in that morning. She'd been looking at one of the unstable tunnels, when she got half buried. The surprising part was that she was not only able to pull herself out when she realistically should not have been, but she wasn't even harmed. No broken bones, and if there were any scratches, she had hardly noticed. Convenient, and she definitely preferred the less flashy sort of style it had.
Mountainsound was also present. She'd spent so long already healing injuries that super powered cats had inflicted on themselves, or on those less fortunate, with powers that didn't really spare them from harsher injuries. It was how she'd discovered her own powers. She had a healing aura that she could manipulate, and interesting thing that she could certainly get used to. After all, who wouldn't want to know they could heal worse injuries with less effort, and without the need of herbs? "These cats are going to get themselves killed if we don't get this under control." The blind feline stated bluntly as she arrived, rubbing a paw against her face in frustration.
"CHEEP CHEEP. CHEEP CHEEP CHEEP!" The Squirrel replied back shaking its fist.
"No you shove it!" Fuzzyheart spat at the squirrel, "The time of squirrel rebellion will never come you pompous little weasel."
"Cheep! Cheeep cheep cheep cheep! CHEEP!" The squirrel said one last time before diving into the bushes.
Fuzzyheart walked over to Peachblush, "Gutsy little bushy tailed jerk. Trying to rise up and challenge me, I could shove my claw down his throat and out the other end if I wanted to. Anyways is this the meeting where I can get rid of my powers, because hunting has become quite a lot like assassinating where my food gets to talk back to me."
Autumngossamer watched with amusement, "More like we're trying to gather our powers together to form a plan to police all these supernatural powers," She turned to look at Peachblush, "What's your power?"
Cadet Zion stayed low and kept his scent out of others reach. As far as the Regime knew Zion had vanished, but in reality he woke up invisible. At first he was just chilling in the gathering figuring he could find a way to get rid of this power like Fuzzyheart wanted, but now that this was apparently a meeting about policing others he wasn't too sure if this was the side he wanted to be on. But despite things having dived into anarchy Shule was his superior and if she asked him to spy he would obey. Which was exactly why he was trying to escape Shule's senses and just watch this go down!
"I think the plan should be that we kill those who are too over powered and aren't willing to follow the rules. Those who are willing to follow the rules will go on living as though this never happened. But should their powers become unreasonably out of control that's when we can come in and ensure they keep it together or get out," Xuxa suggested.
"We're not killing anyone unless it's absolutely necessary." Shule countered almost immediately. Perhaps because her own daughter, Kaisra, was one of the out of control ones, and there was no way she was just going to let Xuxa murder her if she started ignoring the rules. Of course, they would have to find a way to reign the Sentinel in, but they could figure that out without murder. "Imprison? Maybe, but let's avoid the murder route unless our own lives are at stake."
Peachblush's eyes lit up as he spotted Fuzzyheart. "You made it!" he purred, nuzzling the other tom affectionately and adding in a low voice, "Sorry about the hunting thing, I know how much you like it." He cleared his throat awkwardly and turned back towards Autumngossamer, trying to put on a more serious expression. "Healing," he replied, not willing to divulge the other aspect of his power just yet. Perhaps it would be too short an answer for Autumngossamer, but he didn't care - Fuzzyheart was here now, and he felt much more confident with the other tom around.
"I'm also opposed to the murder-ey option." Yumemi wasn't exactly one of the more influential cats in the forest, but she'd held a healing position in Absum Lux before, so she at least had some experience standing before a crowd - even if no one really knew who she was anymore. She felt her fur begin to harden at anger at Xuxa's suggestion, resisting the urge to fire into the crowd. "I agree that we need to hold cats accountable for what they do with their powers, but the ones who actually can't control their powers need help, not death." She stepped back into the crowd, feeling mildly proud of herself for using the word accountable without stuttering.
It was difficult to tell exactly when he had arrived, as Glaniur had not made a sound. He stood off to the side of the gathering, keeping a large distance between himself and the rest of the cats. If he wanted to watch and learn of the other's abilities, he had to keep a distance. His clear eyes swept over the cats, making a mental list of the powers that had been mentioned thus far, and by whom. "That is, if there actually is a way for them to control their powers," he added, his head slightly tilted. "We don't know the range of how dangerous some powers can be. Perhaps someone kills everyone they make eye contact with, or maybe they just don't want to understand their new abilities."
Hystericplague slunk in, his body seeming to writhe in the shadows until the hairless tom joined the others. So far, as the medicine cat of Fallclan, he had to deal with the brunt of these new powers, and oh did they interest him. He had his theories, of course, as to how the powers manifested, and at this point most of his experiments were revolving around the blood of the afflicted cats. It was wonderful, cats were volunteering themselves for his experiments, as long as he claimed to be searching for a cure. Understanding the origin of such abilities would eventually lead to a cure, but Hystericplague had other questions he wanted answers to, as well. Were the powers hereditary? Could they be transferred to others? Oh, how he wanted to know. His search for answers had led him to this gathering, and he noted that he wasn't the only medicine cat in attendance.
Yumemi's eyes narrowed. "Then claw their eyes out or something," she replied. "Sure, there's no doubt gonna be some horrifying powers popping up. We just have to come up with some horrifying-ly creative solutions! That aren't murder," she added with a slight cough. She briefly glanced away from Glaniur as Hystericplague slithered in. She'd never met the tom, but being a healer herself, she certainly knew of him. No doubt he was researching the powers every waking second. She would have to try and talk to him later, if the circumstances allowed. Which they wouldn't, because the universe didn't usually let Yumemi have nice things. But she would try.
Peachblush frowned at the former sage's words. Glad to see she hasn't changed. "I'm not sure that we should advocate clawing out cats' eyes just because it's slightly less bad than outright murdering them," he said with a sidelong glance at Yumemi, "but I'm...not opposed to Xuxa's plan. Although it would need regulations, to keep things from being an outright bloodbath."
"We most certainly will not claw out any cats eyes." Summersolstice said firmly. Her amber eyes blazing. The former leader of NightClan now Senator of SunClan stalked into the gathering. Her ginger pelt looking more fiery than normal. Particularly at the appalling thought of injuring those who could not control their powers. "Besides doing such will only sow fear of us, and when cats are afraid is when things get ugly." She said simply.
"Though I do agree with Xuxa as well," Crimsonrose said, the WinterClan knight having been sitting and listening to the ongoings only now joining the discussion. "Most cats aren't foolish, as long as the rules are sensible they will abide by them. If they don't then they're a threat and other actions may need to be taken."
Summersolstice grimaced. "Perhaps there might be a way to negate their powers? Do something to prevent them from using them, like a prison."
Crimsonrose's whiskers twitched. "Why Burningstar, after you spent all that effort to break out your rulebreaking clanmates last Leafbare, now you see the wisdom of WinterClan's prison?"
Summersolstice scowled. "When the punishment fits the crime," She said stiffly.
Glaniur shrugged, not commenting with his opinion of clawing out eyes. Instead, he picked up on Summersolstice's idea. "Perhaps certain powers can negate others," he said. "I doubt a prison will be able to hold back superpowers on its own. We would need a prison specifically built for cats with powers." He cast a glance at Hystericplague, fully aware that if Glaniur were to come clean about what his power was, the creepy medicine cat would be among the first to want to test on him. Of course, there would be others too. Still, he wasn't going to go out of his way to hide what his powers were, and he's escaped from the prisons of Winterclan before, he could probably escape experiments as well.
For his part, Hystericplague sat quietly, just watching as everything played out before him. He wasn't here to debate, and anything that he had to say probably wouldn't sit well with the other cats. After all, it would probably be something like 'or we could just lock them up and experiment on them'.
Peachblush nodded slowly, brow furrowed in thought. "Containment is certainly a possibility. Recruiting cats with useful powers to work as prison guards may be something to look in to. We could try sedating some cats if we can't build a better prison for them, although it would depend how their power manifests, and how their powers react to the herbs." His eyes scanned the crowd, looking for a healer that he trusted more than Yumemi. His gaze fell on Hystericplague - not really someone he trusted more than Yumemi, but somewhat more...stable. "I imagine they could be useful test subjects, if anyone here happened to be interested in that."
Yumemi frowned as Peachblush finished speaking. Endorsing using out-of-control cats as test subjects? It wasn't like she wasn't keen to do some good-old-fashioned ethically dubious experimentation, but Peachblush didn't strike her as that kind of guy. Had he developed some different hobbies since they'd last parted, or was his power messing up his thought processes?
Meeting Peachblush's gaze, Hystericplague grinned, his eerie golden eyes seeming to shine. "I've already started trying to figure out how the powers manifest, and, of course, attempting to create a cure." He broke off into a cough, but when his eyes found Peachblush again, he was no less confident.
