Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. Nikkopaw entered back into SunClan, if it was a good day maybe a SunClan cat would ask him to join and he would say no and he would die. But what was he saying? He shouldn't talk that way, that was optimism and optimism was like oil to water, it never touched him. The blue grey tom stalked through SunClan, his posture slouched as usual and tail dragging behind him causing the white tip to catch mud and debris. He wondered if his mom had passed whatever the initiation was, she probably did, she was a good test taker. He wasn't though, probably because he never attended class or pretended to stare at she-cats like he was interested in them, but instead just found every single little flaw about them from the weird dot on a muzzle to an ear that was slightly longer than the other. It was a good thing he couldn't see his own reflection.
"Anyone home?" He asked feeling incredibly hot just standing there. He was used to WinterClan and on a hot day there it was about cold, but here while it was still cold it almost felt like a cold late spring day. Of course SunClan was weird and winter wasn't winter it was leaf bear. He was pretty sure leaf bear must have been a warrior.

It didn't take long for Littlerstar to recognize the young cat standing on their border, but for the life of her she couldn't figure out what his intentions were. She had originally met the cat when Mistyrose had decided to join them as an initiate, but her son had disappeared without a trace. She shook her head, finally making her presence known by stepping our into the light "Now now, you really do enjoy flirting with death Nikkopaw" she looked him up and down, taking in his haphazard apprentice
She didn't know much about this cat other than he was Mistyrose's son and that he had a death wish. Normally a cat that fled from initiation would be killed on sight, it was only the fact that she cared for Mistyrose that she hadn't yet acted
"I wish, death has a restraining order on me, she does not like stalkers" Nikkopaw said before following simply, "Anyways, I want to join SunClan to be with my mom, my missions complete now so I don't have to burden her with ditching class all the time... Or whatever training you do here, sunflower growing- I'm not sure, point is I have time and focus for that now. How have you been?"

"Unfortunately its not that easy The clan believes that you have fled from your initiation. They won't take kindly to you just walking back into their lives"she paused tilting her head slightly "however if you explain your mission than perhaps I might be able to convince them to reconsider their view" she sat down allowing her tail to fold neatly over her paws. The tom before her was strange, but she didn't believe that he meant any ill. His mother had passed initiation, so perhaps he would to if given the chance.
"I could explain my mission, but personally I don't like seeing dorky smiling faces or even engaging into friendly conversation like talking about the weather. Let's opt for the scowling faces and judgmental comments, I would hate to see people get too chummy around me," Nikkopaw said with a pretty convincing fake smile that made him look younger than he was. But the smile was almost dropped immediately. looking around the forest as if deciding this will do. He turned back to look at Littlestar, "So can I join back into initiation?"

"Very well" she replied with a flick of her tail. After all it would keep her from having to explain to Mistyrose why her son had been marked for death. She turned motioning for him to follow, as she allowed her thoughts to flow freely. It wouldn't be easy for this cat, and he would face many challenges "I have just the cat to help you on your road to becoming a member of SunClan, but first you must take on the name of an initiate. Your initiate name must not contain your old WinterClan name, as a symbol of your dedication to learning our ways. Take the time as we continue to SunClan's camp to reflect on the name that you shall choose"
As they neared camp, they came across a patrol that she sent to run ahead and tell Mistyrose that her son had decided to rejoin the clan as an initiate.
"Oh, okay, how about um. Nikkopaw1 then as my initiate name?" Nikkopaw suggested. Much like SunClan's tradition he already knew his warrior name was meant to be Nikkohydrangea. His mom had given him the name and was willing to bully WinterClan's leader into giving him that warrior name. Truthfully, although it was an odd clan cat name he appreciated it, he never met another Nikko and it seemed to be a name rogues and revolution group members liked and was still appreciated in the clans.

Littlestar turned her gaze on him, and tilted her head slightly as if trying to figure out what he meant. Did he really think that just adding a one after his name would satisfy the Sun God? She shook her head "That is to similar to your current name young one. You must show faith, and leave your old life behind you before you can walk in the light" As they neared the camp's tunnels she paused giving the young cat time to make up his mind so that he could be greeted properly by his new name
"So it doesn't matter how many ones I put in my name? Like Nikkopaw7 or Nikkopaw9 also wouldn't work?" Nikkopaw asked out loud trying to think. Last time his sister tried to change her name his mom was really distraught about it, but if she went through initiation she probably chose a temporary name too and wouldn't be mad if he got one. This was his time to be creative! "Alright, I'm thinking NekoNotPaw22 then?"

A little sigh escaped her lips, despite her effort to remain calm and centered. "Your missing the point" she blinked trying to figure out this strange cat. She supposed he took after his mother in that respect, "The point is to give up your old name, so that you are not burdened with the past. When you come with SunClan its the start of a new life for yourself" She had experience a lot of things in her time in sunclan, but she had never had a cat suggest such a name for themselves. Why would you add a number after your name? But as the thoughts entered her mind, behind appeared the familiar figure of the sun god who offered her a nod before letting his tail touch the young cat's shoulder. He wouldn't be able to see or feel the sun god, but she could. She sighed again "However, the Sun God seems to have approved of your choice. So welcome to SunClan NekoNotPaw22"

"Apparently so" she replied, receiving a nod of approval from the Sun God before continuing to lead the apprentice into the tunnels that lead into SunClan's camp. "When I came to SunClan I was only a kit, so I was never an initiate. The Sun God sees the good and purity that lies within kits and allows them to join us without going through initiation" she paused a little smile tugging at the edge of her lips "Your mother has probably already told you that I was once apart of WinterClan as well. Do you know the story of how I came to be in SunClan?"
(speaking of which Nikko probably should have just been added as an apprentice, but you know XD Whoops. Honestly I may lower that to just be kits only since it has been broken so many times)
(Yeah like Autumngossamer was an apprentice, probably should have just been accepted, but I inferred Foxstar was just giving her a hard time. But Nikko when he originally came should have been just made an apprentice and not an initiate xD Right now he's 14 moons old, past the 12 moon age cut off date. All my cats have exact ages)
"Uh, pieces. My moms only had time to pay attention to me recently, so I've only heard from other warriors. Typically things like, she ditched us, or she vanished, or it would dissolve into debates on whether Goldenstar was a cool guy or not. Surprisingly, lots of debates on whether a leader was a good leader, no one was definitely a good leader. Mom always said SunClan cats were manipulative neat freaks who thought with their heads and had actual opinions. So I took that as no ones pure, but some people are just better than others by comparison?"

"I suppose most of WitnerClan would assume that I simply left" she shrugged her shoulders. She had made peace with that long ago, even though there was once a time that such a statement would have gotten under her skin. "From my understanding, my father never really loved my mother. In his mind, she was just a means to an end. He wanted children with pure WinterClan blood, and she wanted power and influence in the clan" she to had mostly heard the story through second hand accounts, but she trusted Singedwolf's view of what had happened. Her own memories were scattered and fragmented. "A lot happened between the two of them, but it ended in something my father came up with to put an end to it. He called it a trial by combat. The theory was that the two cats would fight to the death, and whomever lived was being back by StarClan. I was only a few moons old, but I still remember that day"
She took in a deep breathe, closing her eye as they walked allowing her whiskers to guide her in the darkness of the tunnels. "I remember being confused, not understand why my parents were hurting one another. My half-brother Proudlion tried to keep me out of the fight, but when my father moved in to kill my mother I managed to slip past him and run inbetween them. All I had time to say was, Pappa... one word... but that gave him enough of a pause for my mother to retaliate. In that moment I had unintentionally sealed all of our fates as she delivered a fate blow to Goldenstar. I don't remember much after that, until I woke up being carried by scruff almost at the SunClan border.r Singewolf had managed to snatch me out of the chaos and carry me to safety, for if I had remained I to would have been killed like my half-brother Proudlion. It wasn't safe for me in WinterClan any longer, so SIngedwolf brought me to the only clan he thought might be able to offer me protection.... SunClan...."
(We can always say he wasn't formally accepted the first time, so now he has to go through initiation XD whoopsies)
Nikkopaw wondered how that was like, having half siblings. Was it weird knowing that your parent once loved someone else? Did you love your sibling the same? His mom had always stayed loyal to dad, they were one of the few couples that were very publicly affectionate, often making out in camp, in front of patients, middle of the night when people were trying to sleep. Okay so it was really little wonder why Mistyveil had so many kits. But this made things harder to imagine why or even how two cats could become mates and try to hurt one another. He was a downer, but definitely a believer in true love, "What happened to Singedwolf?" He asked, but now couldn't help, but wonder what WinterClan would be saying about him and his mom. Than again he was raised not to care about other peoples opinion. Although it was interesting to hear that Littlestar came to SunClan as a kitten. He had so many siblings from such a vast amount of litters that by the time he was born WinterClan kits understood that sometimes WinterClan born kits just appeared one day in the nursery. He had been a part of the only litter that Mistyveil raised, but it made him feel like an outsider. Medicine cats didn't have kits and often it made him feel alone, like he wasn't supposed to be alive?

"He remained by my side here in SunClan as an initiate" she offered a simple answer, although it was slightly more complex than that. "Even after the Sun God saw fit for me to become the priestess promised, he always stood by me even when it was difficult" a certain amount of fondness creeped into her voice when she spoke about him. He was a father figure to her, the one who had raised her and kept her safe.
In truth, her used to terrify her. His burned face, mean scowls, and harsh words... all the things that she once saw in her nightmares she now longed to see more of. Since becoming the High Priestess he had distanced himself from the clan, although he still held the title of an initiate that kept that cats of SunClan from hunting him. "Even now he watches over me from a distance"
Nikkopaw looked left and right like he would see the guy in the distance, "Right. Well, sounds like your childhood worked out in the end for you. Too bad you missed out on WinterClan's flower phase, that was the best phase, I still string together flower leis."
Truthfully he was surprised that Littlestar had such a rough upbringing, but turned into a sane sensible adult. He was pretty certain that would not be the case for himself. For one he constantly wanted to die and had a longing to make others hate him before they could decide to dislike him on their own. That and he didn't even have a tragic backstory, both is parents were alive, he had a nice older brother and yeah his sister hurled herself off a cliff, but whose family was perfect? The answer to that was Raspberrypaw, she was the happiest person he ever met and now avoided her like poison. If there truly was a God out there he hoped he would prevent their paths from ever meeting again.

The image of Leatherstar wearing a necklace of feminine flowers came to mind, and she couldn't help but giggle. It was almost a ridiculous thought, he always had put on this tough guy image. She could only image how hard it would have been to maintain with roses and daisies wrapped around his neck. Perhaps then other would see the soft and squishy side of him that he was always trying to hide from everyone but her "I'm sure that phase would have brought me much amusement" why had mistyrose not mentioned this earlier?
Speaking of which... "You mother passed our initiation. Her name is Mistyrose now"
"It was a nice phase, I liked it a lot, the flowers were always a comforting smell and I liked how soft they felt around my neck," Nikkopaw ventured further before looking up at Littlestar when she mentioned his moms new name, "Oh she changed it? It sounds more beautiful now, I guess that's a nice name, rose would never be a WinterClan name, they don't bloom out there. Here she can grow, but she still has her thorns that no one can see coming," He said thoughtfully, "She always said my name will be Nikkohydrangea, I think it's too long, I kind of figure I'll always just be Nikkopaw or Nikko, but I guess that'll be other peoples problem when they have to say my name," He seemed to suddenly realize he was talking more than he wanted to, "If you could point out authority figures later on that would be appreciated. I get that basically everyone's above me, but you know what I mean, like the deputy and medicine cat sort of thing," He said, scraping his mind for what clans called those things. WinterClan changed their slang around so much he wasn't sure what was common and what was weird.

She understood, when she had first come to SunClan the ranks seemed strange on her tongue even though now they were second nature "I am the high priestess, equivalent to the leader in WinterClan. I speak with the Sun God, and lead the clan in all matters. I also heal, similar to the role your mother once had in WinterClan" she paused as they emerged into SunClan's camp. "My second in command is Bloodyrondo. He is my apprentice, and will one day take over as High Priest when I am gone. He is similar to the deputy in winterclan" she paused gazing over the cats for the young bight red tom Jadie
