Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
It was rare to see Designerdarling in such a tiff. Normally, the somali she-cat was as cool as a cucumber. Using whatever she could to hide the truth, even by burying it in the snow around them. Today, though, she had a witness. An apprentice, no less. She felt like she had a good speech to give Wintrystar about how bad of an idea this was. For some reason, she held back. It was the early morning, and as much as she hated leaving in the morning, she had little choice. There was a lot to go over and she'd give Frozenpaw another few minutes to get ready. Definitely not because she didn't want to move from her spot next to the entrance to camp.
Frozenpaw scrambled to groom herself, her long pelt a mess with peices of moss that got entangled in her deep slumber. She couldn't stand looking so wild especially on a special day like today. She was finally an apprentice and she was finally going to start her training. The nerves hummed through her body in a strange mixture of anxiety and excitement. With a few more quick and rather rouge tugs at the last of the moss at her side, she was finally done. She launched herself off her bed, her short legs moving quickly through the rows of sleeping apprentices. The early morning light was brighter than the she-cat had anticipated, blinding her for a moment. After Frozenpaw blinked away the brightness, she was welcomed by the sight of her mentor awaiting ahead of her near the camp entrance.
"Good morning Designerdarling." Frozenpaw meowed carefully, her expression serious for a young cat "I'm sorry, were you waiting a long time?"

She was serious, almost overly so. Designerdarling didn't mind, though she felt it was going to make things worse. Designer was a vaguely serious cat, shy and rebellious and fairly new. "No, not at all." They'd have to try to meet at the same time every morning, so Frozenpaw could get used to this horrendous schedule. "I figure we'll start with a tour of the territory. Best places to find prey and all that. I'd like you to get used to walking in the snow in the day before we try later at night." This one had nothing for her yet, no need to get defensive yet. Right?
As her mentor formulated the plan into words, Frozenpaw could not help but perk up in a small display of excitement. This would be the first time the she-cat had ever explored outside of camp. The idea created a mixture of excitement, curiosity and anxiety grow in her stomach. "That sounds like a great idea!" Her words came out fast, faster than her previous, another blatant hint to her excitement.

Designer's lip twitched like she was about to smile before falling back. The empty camp was a reminder; there was no one else here to impress. She needed to hold herself together, for her sake as well as Frozenpaw's. Her gaze softened, the other's excitement infectious as she led the way out of camp. "Now, before we go too far, I'll let you know how we hunt." This was the worst part, the routine, "Most cats here have lighter pelts to blend in with the snow. Outsiders like us have to...ugh, roll around in the snow and cover ourselves with it. We won't be doing much hunting, but you'll want to get into the routine of doing it every time you leave camp."
Frozenpaw followed, her back erect as she padded, her natural grace and poise reflecting in her careful movements, but her excitment was noted in the smallest of hops the apprentice made as she followed closely behind her mentor. Frozenpaw blinked at Designer's words, looking off to the side to take note of her rather bright coat. She hadn't realize how much of a distraction it would be in hunting. The idea caused the she-cat to quietly "Oooh".
"You do that every time you go out to hunt?" She asked incredulously, her wide pale green eyes taking in her mentors rather short coat "Don't you get cold?"

"Pretty much and yes, I do." Designer held back another sigh, now covering herself in the stuff by instinct. She was grateful her pelt was long and thick, but it was so bright, she needed a lot of snow to just get the thing dull. Even with it, sometimes the chill would go straight through to her bones, especially when she had to sit and wait for prey to turn around. She hated it, there was no part of her than enjoyed it. But it was a necessary evil, like popping the pills you hate to live or tolerating the incompetent nurses that take care of you. The snow was her care, her cover. So she did it every day. "It's a pain, though yours isn't as bright as mine. So you won't need to as much." She perked back up, not letting that mask fall quite yet.
Frozenpaw stared after her mentor, watching as her mentor began to cover herself in the white powdery snow. She looked at her own pelt, which was noticeably lighter than Designerdarling's but dark enough that it needed coat of snow. She slowly proceeded to follow her mentor's lead, rolling in the snow lightly to cover her pelt ever so slightly. Thanks to her thick and long coat, the cold hardly reached her core. She looked up at her mentor expectantly, her pale green eyes wide with anticipation of the next step, quietly reciting the previous instructions in her mind so that they stuck.

"Alright." Designer rubbed her nose with the back of her paw, holding back a sneeze out of pure will and knowing she'd have to put her head back into the snow again. After a moment, she spoke up again, "Now is when you would go start hunting. But we're gonna start with a walk towards the bottom of the hill. Show you the training hollow and the borders to start. Are you up for a walk?"
