Myst was in a mood. What else was new? All these cats walking around like they owned the place was giving him a headache. He could handle one leader but the proxies were beginning to get a little big for their pelts now that most were taking over large tracts of the territory. He'd had to navigate so many politics just to get what he needed for his 'zoo'. It was enough to make him want to pitch himself off the top of the cathedral.
He padded along the trail, Echo flying from tree to tree above him. He'd taken to making these walks around the territory with his companion each day in hopes the bird was getting enough exercise. He really wasn't sure what would be considered 'enough' for the dwarf scarlet macaw but he was doing his best and the parrot seemed happy. His attention was so fixated on Echo he didn't even noitce the other cat in his path until her familiar scent hit his nose and he snapped out of his daze. "I thought you were dead."

The voice was low and gravely, just like it always had been. However, coating the gravel was a thick layer of sugary sweetness, the kind of sweetness that was almost sickly. She'd gotten word that he tended to come this way every day at around this time, and, to her surprise, her source had actually been correct. How... interesting, seemingly as they never were.
Gossamer Alessandra, well, he would know her as just Gossamer - It was a lengthy story as to how she picked up a second part of her name, one that she was sure she would get into eventually - let her focus fall to her brother. Deep, dark indigo eyes, eyes that almost bordered on purple in their tone, glanced expectantly at him. It had been too long since they had seen each other, and she, too, had thought that maybe her brother had failed to survive. She had been under that impression all of the time she took building up her little project, and so she had never come looking for him, at least not until word had come to the North that he a feline named Mysterium really did live.
"Now, if you'd ever been taught any manners, you would say something like 'Oh, Gossamer, you are just as stunning as I remember,'" she teased, pressing her nose against her brother's cheek. If he was any other cat in the Everlasting linage, this would be a dangerous endeavor without seeing his temperment first. But, he wasn't any other cat, and Gossamer had faith that his pacifism hadn't outlived him.
"You and I both know neither of us were taught manners Gossamer." He mewed, deadpanned before a grin spread across his face and he returned the affection his sister had shown. "Where have you been? I thought you stayed with our lovely father after I left but he said you took off at the same time I did?"
His gaze scanned his sister with a concerned eye, looking for injuries or other hints as the what had happened to her. But he didn't see anything that gave him any reason to believe she'd been injured enough to stop her from seeking him out. "I was so close to building you a burial shrine loser." He narrowed his eyes as he butted his head into her shoulder.

"You know just how interested I am in spending any time with our father," she replied with a shake of her head. "No, no. I definitely wasn't with him. While some of us were galavanting with the ... normies," she looked around and shuddered at the place he had ended up, "others were on a mission to reassemble our birthright. I found an abandoned... what are they called? The two-leg shaman type dens. It's quite an accomodating space, and it's so easy to get cats to agree with you when you have a pretty face and sharp claws." She let out a laugh, her nose crinkling slightly. She had missed this sack of seeds, and even if their reunion was only temporary - she had affairs she would eventually have to return to take care of - it was something. A breath of fresh air.
"I had my ear out for you, though, as soon as resources were mine to spare, I prepared to find you again." Her voice was serious for just one moment as she looked at him. After all, she had needed so desperately to know that he was at least okay. "Also, before you keep looking at me like you're about to go into emergency surgery if you find one hair out of place, I'm fine. Really. We just ended up in two very different places. Although, truthfully, I wouldn't mind a shrine. Perhaps you could recite a poem over it. Ode to Gossamer Alessandra." She winked at him, before letting her gaze slip to the territory again.
"Speaking of loser, I've heard you've made quite a little name for yourself, mm?"
Myst shook his head. It was so like his sister to get herself into insane situations. He hadn't even began to wrap his head around what she'd just said but he grinned at her teasing. "Did you join a cult, because that sounds a lot like a cult." He couldn't help himself as he glanced over her once more before drawing his pale blue gaze back to her iridescent one. "You'll love this. I waltzed in and stole this little job right out of our fathers claws." He snickered. "Old fool didn't even know what happened. Now I get to do pretty much anything I want to." Echo finally noticed he'd stopped and came flitting back to land on his broad shoulders. "Oh and I have a parrot. Say hello to Gommamer Echo." He prompted the parrot who dutifully squawked "Hello, Hello."

"Baby boy, I didn't join a cult, I started one," she purred, her chest puffing out slightly. "If and, well, when, this place crashes down around you - the clan cats are so fickle - you're more than welcome to take your spot as my right hand man," she assured him, before shrugging.
It was only then that she realized what he had said. Dark delight filled her eyes and a devilish grin spread across her lips. It was in moments like these that the flame point Siamese truly loved, sweet sweet vindication. "You're kidding," she purred, looping her tail with his. "I can only imagine the look in his eyes when you snatched it from him. What I wouldn't pay..."
Her laughter only ceased when the parrot landed on his shoulder. "I got a second name, and you got a ... parrot," she observed, tone slightly confused. "Care to... I don't know, explain that one?" she meowed, before giving the creature a good poke with her paw. Not enough to hurt him, but enough to make sure she wasn't just imagining it. "A bird... That you don't eat..." She glanced back to Mysterium. Perhaps she was the one who needed to be concerned.
Another snicker. "My job as a pathologist is to 'research' remedies and unknowns." He explained, really happy about what he'd been able to build in such a short time here. "So I found what was likely an exotic breeding facility and have been gathering to escaped animals to breed and trade in the black market." Thankfully he and his sister were far more knowledgeable in the world of twolegs than most cats otherwise this would have been much harder to explain. "As for Echo, he kinda attached himself to me and is probably the least bird brained creature around here so he makes for good company at least." Echo squawked at the poke and puffed up his ruby red feathers but settled down quickly enough. "I have no clue why he'd not scared of us but it felt wrong to eat a creature like him." He thought for a moment. "Honestly I probably did join a cult."

"Ya know, it says a lot about the company you keep now adays if the bird is the least birdbrained of the lot," she mewed with a raised eyebrow. She had a disdain for Primal Instinct, one that seemed to be carved into her very bones. One day, once the pieces of Gossamer Alessandra finally got put together, it would make sense why. After all, it was Primal Instinct that stole the life of her mother- er, her great-great-grandmother, it was Primal Instinct that survived when ashes befell the junk yard.... Her eyes flashed for a moment as something deep within her stirred. A memory? The heat of a battle, the feeling of flesh under her claws... She shook her head violently, pulling herself out from... whatever that was. Weird, she thought to herself, before re-focusing on her brother.
"I'm surprised your... comrades feel the same," she meowed. "He almost looks tasty, and if we haven't learned manners, these cats sure haven't." She blinked. "Can it... do cool tricks? Predict the weather, chase away your enemies, anything interesting?"
"I might have taken more of an interest in herb dear sister but that doesn't mean Genesis' battle lessons weren't well learned. These cats wouldn't dare to harm him because I trade a life for a life." He tilted his head to the side in interest as ghosts seemed to dance in the she cat's eyes but brushed it off as she refocused on him. "He's a pretty good scout.. usually." He narrowed his eyes in Echo direction who'd failed to bring his sister to his attention. "And he's good at recognizing different cats and associating words with them and commands. For instance, Enigma." He directed the command at the parrot, who squawked. "Dummy, Dummy." Back at them instantly obviously using that one quite often. "He's got a few for the more annoying cats I like to have warning before I interact with."

"Would you look at that." There was delight in her voice as she watched the bird refer to their father. Out of all of the words that he could have used, well, dummy seemed to be one of the better ones. Of course, she had some... better options, but she didn't supppose her brother wanted to teach his new pet to be profane, did he? "So, a new trick bird, a new position, it seems like you've done well for yourself, brother," she then mused, blinking a few times. It was odd to think about how different their lives had gone the last few moons since they had been separated. "What can I say, I'm almost surprised you survived without me," she then mewed with a laugh, nudging his shoulder. "Did you pick... this place... for any reason other than easy access to a rank?"
Myst nodded, "It's not very hard to steal positions of power in a group that's about to cave in on itself." He mewed with a shrug, his eyes running over the female again.. just in case. "I came looking for our dear old dad, just to see if the rumors were true. I saw my opportunity with the leader and took it. He liked someone with no allegiance to Absum Lux I guess over Enigma." He paused, "So no there's no real other reason for me to pick this place other than rank."

When he spoke the words, an idea crossed her mind. A wonderful, terrible, wonderful idea. Her lips pulled into a wide smile. It isn't hard to take over a group that's collapsing on itself. Weren't most of these clans collapsing on themselves? Her paws shifted excitedly, little pats, before she nudged her brother with her head. "Have I ever told you that you're absolutely brilliant?" she purred at him, before making an excited circle around him. Her tail trailed across his side as a purr left her chest. "Why have I been starting a cult, when I could just take one over? Just for fun. Of course, my little project in the hills will still be there when taking over a group on this side of the road falls apart, but it could be fun while I try." She paused her circles, tipping her head. "And speaking of caves, isn't there a group that lives in um?"
"GOSS!" Myst mewed quickly, tapping her ears with his tail. "You can't just go around taking over groups silly." He laughed nervously knowing that look in his sister's eyes all to well. They might be in for a trip if she wasn't careful. "And yes, the regime lives in the tunnels but last I heard they had their own leader doing leader things." But he knew no matter what he said, she'd likely try to do exactly what she's set out for.

She raised her eyebrows. "Are you -" she paused, looking a little bit offended, "-doubting me? It feels like you're doubting me right now." Her lips twitched into a frown, but the light didn't leave her eyes. Unfortunately for the whole forest, Mysterium knew his sister too well, and when she wanted something, she was going to get it. It was the old Everlastingstar blood- those kinds of cats didn't settle for anything. "Or, maybe you're not doubting me," her lips twisted again into a grin. "Maybe you're trying to start a bet? You know, dearest brother, how much I enjoy a good bet." She paused her circles, tipping her head to the side. "All leaders do ... leader things. And soon enough, I'll be doing leader things too," she meowed with a wink. "What are the stakes? If I win and take over a group, you're takin your sorry ass with me. And if I don't, what do I have to do?"
Oh no. The only reason Myst wasn't panicking was because it was such a long shot, no leader in their right mind would turn their clan over to her right? And she couldn't fight her way in as a single cat. Myst could only smile, knowing if he showed any sort of doubt it would only strengthen her resolve. "Sure, if you take over a clan then I'll go with you. You just have to make me important, apparently leaders can make anyone important." He scuffed. "As for if you loose. You get to stay here with me and the old fleabag." He almost instantly regretted it, she'd be two times as motivated now. "But it has to be the Regime, no other clan or group." He had faith the regime might be able to withstand her.. at least he hoped they could.

If she had a watch, she would know that it was about two in the morning. She had had a long night so far, but there was so much more to do. This was simply the first on the list of errands to run before the next morning, when she would take her spoils of war. It was also the most important, though, at least to her. There were two reasons for this. The first was that she was quite ready to rub it into her brother's face that she managed to do basically whatever she wanted whenever she wanted, and the second was because it had been a week since she'd seen her brother, and she missed him.
The pride and ego part was stronger, though, and she waltzed into Primal Instinct like she absolutely owned the place. She could do that, right, now that she was a Commander ?
"Oh Mystie ! I have news for you!" she called into the forest, as if he was going to just appear right in front of her. If she had to wait in this exact spot for three hours calling the same thing into the air, she would. Eventually, he'd hear her. She had the power of the ... the ... Deaf Hunter ? No, no that wasn't it ... Oh, come on, Gossy, what was it .... Oh, right. She had the power of the Blind Protector (and anime) on her side.
She got lucky. She was caterwauling right outside of his compound.. lucky for her, but not for him as he stalked out annoyed at being woken up. "What Goss?" He mewed, all but appearing behind her. "You're going to wake up the entire league with your mouth." He shoved his fluff tail into her open jaws with a grin. He truly was happy to see her back after she ran off so quickly the last time. But why was she all in a tizzy? Surely she hadn't... his mouth dropped open. "Goss you didn't.."

She bit down on his tail gently, offering him a wink before pulling away. "Didn't what favorite brother of mine?" she whispered innocently, the look on her face all too telling. "Didn't.... what was our bet? Oh, yeah. Didn't take over a group? Renegade Regime in particular?" She batted her eyelids at him real slowly, before she did her weird little tip-tap foot dance. "I sure did. It wasn't even that hard. You made it sound like I was going to have to fight tooth and nail for it. Hope you like the dirt and you can pack your bags rather quickly, Mystie, because we have a group to terrorize now." There wasn't any space for him to ask questions while she babbled on, but as soon as she was done, she looked at him with big round eyes, waiting expectantly for praise.
