It was rare for Romancefable to be single, but now was one of those times. he just couldn't bring himself to date anyone after his last rather trumatic break up. he still had scabs on his cheek from where she had slapped him. He just didn't understand what he was doing wrong. He had tried so hard to find the love of his life, going above and beyond in order to do so. He had dated so many she-cats and none of them made him feel the way the cats in the stories had. There had been no true love's kiss, or love at first sight. He sighed laying his head wearily on his paws.
Swelteringeclipse had just finished navigating her way back to camp through the tunnels, her ebony and auburn flecked coat carrying a thin dusty layer of brown. As she made her way through the clearing, her eyes were not forward but locked on her paws with each step they took, she was once again lost in fantasy. Daydreaming about what her future may hold. It wasn't uncommon for the she-cat to do this, closing herself off from reality to live in a world all her own, a world where everything went right.
A warm smile was spread across her lips until a sting of pain shot through her head as it made contact with one of the dens, she stood there dazed, her eyes now resting on the solid object.

Hearing the dull thud, he lifted his head just in time to see the rather stunned she-cat staring at the edge of the den. He hurried to his paws, rushing over to her side "Oh dear, that looks like it hurt. May I get you something to help with your head dearie?" he asked sweetly, trying to keep any sort of judgment from seeping into his voice. After all he done similar things in the past when he wasn't paying attention. Who was to say she didn't have a lot of things going on in her mind?
Swelteringeclipse nodded, the movement causing an aching throb to travel through her head. "Thank you, Romancefable." She gave the tom a warm smile, he seemed to understand the embarrassment she was feeling when he offered to help in a less populated place. Not only was he handsome, but he was kind, like a fairytale come to life. "You're a sweetheart, you know that?"

"No I insist my dear" he bowed low, showing her the way into the warriors den "I keep some cobwebs tucked near my nest, it will only take you a moment or two to get you cleaned up" he knew what it felt like to be the center of attention, and this way she could get it taken care of without having to go see the medicine cat or having everyone see the blood dribbling down her forhead. "I promise not to tell" he added with a wink

"I have been called many things, but that is a new one" he pured lightly as he dabbed at her forehead gently to clear away the blood. Instead of wiping, the gentle dabs of moss would pull it away from her fur and keep it from staining. He had learned to do that on himself, since blood showed up so strongly against his snowy fur.
The black and auburn she-cat let out a purr, though it was cut short by a stinging pain on her forehead as the tom dabbed her wound with the moss. "You seem to know what you're doing." She commented, trying to keep herself from pulling away.

"Well I spent a lot of time being cared for by the High Priestess. When I first became apprentice I got attacked by a dog, and I nearly died" he placed the moss down on ground and kicked it over to where the apprentices would collect the dirty moss from tomorrow "Even after I recovered, my wounds would open up from time to time. So I learned how to hide them, so that other's wouldn't stare at me all time"
As she sat listening to his story, Swelteringeclipse could feel her heart tightening, not able to imagine what he must have been feeling or the pain he had to endure, but sad none the less that he had to go through it. "I'm sorry you had to go through all of that, but I am glad you are here now." Her eyes softened as she spoke, lingering on him for a moment before falling to stare at the ground.

She was the first cat to ever tell him that... Not even his siblings had said such kind words and he felt his heart soar "Thanks" he murmered, even though he often though about if it would have been better if the dog had just killed him.
"I should be the one thanking you." She smiled softly at him and placed a gentle paw over one of his before suddenly moving it away with a nervous laugh. "Um, so how does it look?" She lowered her head a little, so he could see it a little easier.

"Much better!" he purred "Where your pur has patches of color, I don't think anyone will notice unless they are looking very closely. Id say in a day or two you won't be able to tell at all"
She let out a sigh of relief and sat back up, suddenly trying to think of a way to repay his kindness. "Is there anything I can do to repay you? Favorite meal i can bring you? Anything?" Repaying him wasn't the only reason for her asking, admittedly she wanted a reason to spend more time with him, but she wasn't about to just say that.

He didn't really want anything from her, after all it hadn't hurt him any to help her. He thought for a moment "I know, next time just be more carefull" he purred. "Keeping you safe is more than enough of a reward"
