Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Littlestar waited on her new promised to awaken. Yesterday had been a big day for him, and she had allowed him to sleep in through the morning prayers. There would plenty of time for his training, and he would do better if he was well rested. The soft morning light filtered into the main cavern of the den that they shared as she began working on sorting through some of the herbs that she needed to place into their proper storage container while she had the time. Skipstep had taken out their litter of kits to the sun flower fields so that she and Bloodyrondo could have some bonding time. She hummed softly as she worked enjoying the mind numbing work. She found it soothing and relaxing after the business of the past moon.
Hearing some movement coming from the smaller chamber on the opposite side, her ear flicked towards the entrance while she continued to work.
Bloodyrondo stumbled out of the Priest Promised's den, his long fur sticking out at odd angles, his body paint from the day before smeared and in need of removal. He had been so caught up in the ceremony and following celebration that he had not found his den until long after the Sun had set. His promotion had set his evening routine askew and thus neglected his, for lack of a better term, beauty routine.
When his eyes met Littlestar's in the entry chamber, he froze, not quite expecting to find her there. He squinted at the light that filtered through the entrance and realized it was much later in the day than acceptable (at least in his opinion) and panic took over, "Oh no, did I miss morning prayers? Why didn't you wake me?"

"You did" she replied not glancing up from the herbs that she was sorting, as she carefully folded and placed some oak leaves into on of the nooks on the wall. Her small size compared to many of the larger cats in the clan made it easy for her to stretch her paws into the small storage areas. "However, yesterday was a busy and exciting day for you. It was better for you to sleep in and get some rest, than to get an early start on your training" after placing some seeds onto a shelf she turned taking in his rather ragged appearance
"As my promised, you have a lot to learn. You can not do so, if you are not performing at your best. Get yourself cleaned up, then we can reapply your paint. Appearances are important, the moment you step out of this den, eyes will be on you"
"I don't need to take it easy, you know. Next time you should wake me." Bloodyrondo replied with a little bit of attitude, but he took her advise without further complaint and began to groom his fur. He wanted to do it anyway. The ginger tom was anxious when disheveled; It was very out of character for him.
He watched Littlestar work as he ran his tongue over his knotted fur, his eyes drawn to her nimble paws. He was impressed by how quickly and confidently she moved. The ginger tom did not know much at all about herbs. It couldn't be that hard - he knew he was smart - but he still felt, for the first time in his life, a touch overwhelmed. Bloodyrondo did not take it very well. His tail-tip was twitching, his eyes slightly dilated. He was nervous. Again, quite out of character. He hated the feeling and prayed to the Sun god it would pass quickly,"What are you doing, anyway? It was pretty neat before, are these herbs new or something?"

"You should always respect the body that the Sun God has given you. When you are weary, rest. It is only then that you may serve him at your fullest potential" she finished placing the last of the herbs, before pulling out several folded leafs that would contain the paints they would need to finish his coat
"I could have woken you at first light, but your mind and body would then be ill prepared for what lies ahead" she opened the first of the leaves revealing the bright red paint that lied within and dipped a claw into it. She then proceed to draw the sun symbol that marked him as the priest promised. A symbol that she had worn herself for so many moons, until Foxbane's had retired and became a senator. It fit until his forehead naturally, like it was meant to lie there on the contour of his head "These herbs were picked this morning by the Janus, and brought to me just before the morning prayer. We are lucky to have such an abundance of herbs. The ceremony springs make it easy to grow and harvest them year round, but that also means our garden needs constant tending. They knew today would be your first day of training, so they tended to the garden so that we would have time to focus on your initial training"
(what's interesting here is that since I am such a noob so much of this stuff is new to me, too; I feel like I'm getting trained along with Bloody LOL. As he matures he will start to have a more religious vernacular like Littlestar, but I like the idea of starting out like a kid in a candy store)
Bloodyrondo remained silent while Littlestar applied his paint. Maybe he should have paid more attention to her message, but truthfully he was much more interested in the brilliant red herbs. He had never had access to such a color up until now; it was beautiful and looked great against his own fiery coat. He was, however, critical to how Littlestar applied it. He thought she was being a bit sloppy. She wasn't, of course. He just wanted to do it himself, but he did his best to hold still, although he did squirm a little bit when she got close to his eyes.
"Thank you, Littlestar," he meowed when the body paint application was done, happy the pull away from the leader. Design aside, Bloodyrondo felt powerful and ready to tackle this new day the Sun had given him. He was most eager to go into the off-limits portion of the Janus camp, although there was just so much to learn, there was no telling where Littlestar would take him today. Whatever it was, surely it would be a higher quality than any combination of what he had learned from Honeysplash so far, and he wasn't one to wait and see what unfolded, "What type of training are we doing today?"

"We shall be starting with a full territory tour, including some areas that I am sure you have not been allowed to enter" it probably would sound rater boring to the young cat, however the long journey they would take around their territory today would allow her to gather more information about where Bloodyrondo was on his knowledge of the clan and it's inner workings. He had been training to become a warrior up to this point, and their focus was focused more on fighting and hunting, than culture, history, traditions, and politics. As the priest promised, her duty was to train his mind as well as his body. Yet she didn't state that this was a test of sorts, she wanted to see how he would react when he wasn't under a lot of pressure to do well. She would be watching him carefully, judging his words and actions.
She rose to her paws, flicking her tail tail for him to follow. As the bright sunlight above faded to the darkness of the maze of tunnels that protected their camp, his assessment began. "Bloodyrondo, why is it that SunClan uses these tunnels as the entrance to our camp?" she left the question open ended, curious to see how his mind worked
/(Well you kind of are being trained along side him :3 Once you feel ready I can starting teaching you about activity checks, editing the page, ext. I wanted to give you some time to settle into the position first though)
( that is very true! I am getting the hang of Freeforums so I'm ready whenever you are I did read through the Skype fyi I just didn't think there was anything I needed to comment on just yet. also, side note, Berry aged up Bloodyrondo's litter to like 22 months, so I guess he's just a touch immature for his age? lol I will probably stop playing apprentice-minded on any new threads with him, but I will leave any current ones as is )
"Sounds great," Bloodyrondo replied, following Littlestar out of the den. He was annoyed that they would have to go through the entire territory today - he had done it many times before, after all - yet his excitement to see locations that had up until now been off-limits overshadowed his dread. He was about to comment on the fine weather today with Littlestar spoke.
The question threw the tom a little bit off guard, mainly because he was not expecting one like it. A question about herbs, ceremonies, battle tactics? Bloodyrondo had an answer prepared for each one. But... camp layout? There was not a whole lot to say. A number different answers ran through his head before he settled on the one most likely, his eyes tracing the cave wall while he answered, "Strategically, it makes sense, as it's weather resistant and easy to defend. But I imagine the main reason we live in this cave system is because the Sun guided us here and gave us the Temple."

Interesting... Most young cats just assumed it was soley for defense of the camp, and yet he did try to bring the Sun God into his answer. "While it is weather resistant and easy to defend, it can also be dangerous for the members of our own clan. After all the tunnels open up to drop offs and dead ends. Snakes, badger, and foxes make their way into the tunnels from time to time." she paused allowing her words to sink in as she walked through the darkness
"The sun god did guide our clan here, and yet few truly understand the purpose of these tunnels"Littlestar left her response up to interpretation, neither confirming nor discounting his response. While his response was technically correct, she wanted to see if he could dive deeper into the question. To look beyond the words she had spoken, to get to the real reason for this question. What seemed like a simple tactical question, was actually quite deep. (I'll message you on skype :3)
"Cats who get lost in the tunnels are just being tested," Bloodyrondo replied quite quickly, "Enemies getting into the tunnels are also a test... we SunClan cats need to always be ready for the unexpected, we can't afford to get soft in times of peace."
He spoke with such conviction that the underlying meaning of his words was easy to miss. A cat who found himself under attack be it from a snake to a badger was most certainly under a test from the Sun. Or, in the worst case, at attack from the Moon. Bloodyrondo would spin the story in his favor regardless.

SUNCLAN HIGH PRIESTESS
"Believe it or not, not everything bad that happens is not always a test from the Sun God" she could still remember a time when she had thought in such a way. It had taken a dramatic event for her to realize this truth, so she didn't expect him to understand.. not right away any way. As the emerged into the light on the other side of the tunnel, she found it best to allow the question to linger in his mind, hopefully he would find the answer on his own if given time.
She smiled a little more playfully, shaking off the seriousness of the question she had asked him "Next we will go somewhere that is very special to me, but lets make it a race. To the sunflower fields we go" without waiting for a response, she used her powerful back legs to launch herself forward.
Whatever wisdom the SunClan leader had tried to pass on to the young Priest Promised just now was lost on him. He was must too stubborn to yield his own beliefs in favor of anyone else's interpretation, even if it did come from Littlestar herself. Bloodyrondo began to reply, but, before he could say so much as a word, the small she-cat had taken off. He stood there for a second with a confused expression on his face, then pelted after her.
The ginger tom was not a particularly lean or long-legged cat, but he was pretty quick. He did not expect to beat Littlestar but wanted to at least be able to catch up. He dug his hind claws into the ground to propel himself forward, leaving little blades of grass drifting to the ground in his wake, his thoughts on the previous conversation fading away as his muscles burned and his breath quickened. Littlestar was a tiny silver streak in front of him, but he was gaining. Unfortunately, he was sacrificing precision for brute speed, and was forced to come to a complete stop thanks to a fallen branch Littlestar had evidently cleared with ease.
By the time he arrived at the sunflower field, he saw the new Priestess there waiting for him. Bloodyrondo swished his tail said a little abashedly,"You had a head start, so I'm not counting that as a loss."

Littlestar turned, waiting on her promised to catch up to her. She stared down at the three sunflowers that she had planted all those moons ago, marking where her three kits were buried. Each time that she saw them she couldn't help but feel a pang of sadness. They would never get the chance to grow like her other children, but she knew they were waiting on her to join them when she was ready to pass on. It was both comforting and sad. Tearing her gaze from them she looked over to Bloodyrondo with a slight smirk "A loss is a loss, pay closer attention next time"
Littlestar strode forward through the rows of flowers, heading towards the ceremony springs and the Janus camp "What do you know about the Sun Flower fields?"
Bloodyrondo wanted to challenge Littlestar on the definition of a loss, but thought better of it. This was his High Priestess, not just some random Warrior who he could pick a fight with and win easily. He took a deep breath, inhaling the pleasant smell of sunflowers, to clear his thoughts just as Littlestar asked her next question. Another strange one. "We use the sunflowers picked here for Initiate promotions, so I know they have special significance with the Sun God. I mean, they are call sunflowers, after all," He nosed one fo the flowers to get a better look, noting its beautiful, vibrant yellow petals, like little bits of sunlight,"I assume it has medicinal properties as well?"

She chuckled "Not so useful when it comes to healing, although the seeds do taste rather good after being allowed to dry out" she sat down flicking her tail at the three small sunflowers "Every time a member of SunClan cat passes away we plant a sunflower over their grave. Their bodies nourish the flowers, serving as monument to the life that the cat once lead. In initiation we ask the initiates to go into the fields, and pick the flower that speaks to them. In this way our ancestors help the Sun God determine who is worthy to join our clan. It's also where at special times of the year, we can come and speak with those that have passed on " she paused, sadness creeping into her voice :These three... These are the flowers I planted when I lost most of the kits in my first litter.I come here often when I am troubled. They don't always speak, but sometime the Sun God will allow me to speak with them"
Bloodyrondo did not reply right away, instead letting a careful silence settle between the two of them. He had never had a loved one die, so he'd never been present at a burial, never witnessed the tradition at work. It was a poetic reflection of their god's love, for what encourages the sunflower to grow is equally the body of the Clan as well as the Sun's righteous rays. A symbol of the earthly bond between this world and the next. Bloodyrondo had always looked past the sunflower up until now; the territory was full of them and he favored red over yellow. Looking at them now, observing the graves of Littlestar's first litter of kits, gave them a new type of beauty. He really had a lot to learn.
"They are beautiful. Those sunflowers, I mean," He said, gesturing to the three in front of him. They weren't any different from the rest in the field but his intention was obvious, "Thank you for sharing this place with me. I guess I've been lucky to not know about this yet."

"That you are" she replied, slowly rising to her paws. She struggled to pull her faze away, and even harder to walk away "Next I shall take you to the Janus camp. I know that you have not been allowed past the entrance until now" she flicked her tail on his shoulder as they began to head that way "However, you may not speak of what you see except to other Janus" she warned
Bloodyrondo's paws itched; the Janus camp had been his goal from very beginning. However, the eagerness had dulled a little bit after starting off on such a serious note, intentionally or not Littlestar had managed to reign in his attention in a very positive way, "I would never reveal Clan secrets, Littlestar. That goes without saying."

"I should hope not, however the things that you will see today is likely to make that difficult for one as young as yourself. If you want to talk about it, then should speak with myself or one of the other Janus" she lead him into the ceremony springs where the well manicured gardens had herbs sprouting and even blooming out of season. Here herbs were plentiful and easy to grow due to the hot and humid climate. She began climbing the hill at the center until they cam to the tunnel that would lead the to auditorium that marked the entrance to the Janus Camp. She led him though the tunnel until the arrived, the stone steps stretching upwards. The stone entrance to the Janus camp standing watch overhead.
"I can control myself, thank you. I was chosen by the Sun for a reason," Bloodyrondo replied with a touch of attitude. He did not appreciate the vibes of doubt that Littlestar was sending his way. His age was really his only flaw; most other Priest Promised had several more moons experience under their belt at selection but, lately, the Sun God had been selecting younger cats into his prestigious ranks. Moonlitnocturne had been selected as a Janus when he was apprentice-aged, after all. There had to be a reason for it. In that since, Littlestar doubting Bloodyrondo was the same as doubting the Sun God. That's how he saw it, anyway.
Regardless, Bloodyrondo's attention began to shift as he felt the smooth stones beneath his paw-pads. Despite the humidity in the air, the stones were cool to the touch, and worn down incredibly smooth due to generations of cats who traversed these paths ahead of him. They were not his ancestors - Bloodyrondo had no SunClan blood himself - but being here really made him feel like part of something bigger, something powerful. He went to take a step through the doorway but paused, glancing back at Littlestar. See? He could control himself, "After you, Littlestar."
