Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
The soft chirping woke the dusty tom from his deep slumber, his narrow green eyes even narrowed as a couple of rays of light blinded him momentarily. Left daze for a couple seconds, it did not take long after for the tom to realize how high the sun was into the sky. He jumped to his four paws, his brows furrowed deeply as his mind began to panic. He was never one to sleep in, on the contrary, the tom was always one of the first warriors up-
He paused as a soft voice in his mind quietly corrected him. <Leader.> Thistlestar blinked slowly as a rush of memories hit him. The night before, he had made his trip to The Japanese Gardens, Springclan's most sacred landmark and received his 9 lives. The magical experience was swift and powerful to Thistlestar, but when he came to, so much time had passed, it was near morning when he woke from his slumber. It made sense to the tom now why he had woken up so late.
Thistlestar stretched out carefully, stretching each joint slowly, taking the time to examine the leader's den around him. It was spacious, far too spacious for just one cat yet there he was. Having grown up in a clan, Thistlestar was used to waking up to the smells of different cats cramped together in a large den. The drastic difference was a small shock to the tom, but largely, it served as a heavy reminder of his new responsibilities.
A chilly breeze hit the newly appointed leader as he made his way out of his new den, causing him to shudder slightly. Even with the cold leaf-bare winds, Springclan was bustling with energy and excitement. Kits play fighting near the small stream that cut through the camp, Warriors returning from hunting, some carrying rather plump fresh kill and even cats scattered around camp lounging in the little sun that shinned through the clouded sky. Thistlestar made his way down from his den, taking in his fellow clan mates with each step he took as he neared the most active part of camp...

Eveningspirit yawned as she stepped out of the warriors, stretching her long legs as the warm rays of the sun brightened her ginger and white pelt. A smile pulled at her lips as she gazed around the clearing, her eyes stopping on Springclans new leader. "Good morning Thistlestar." She purred the greeting, dipping her head slightly as she approached the tom.
Thistlestar's green orbs found the long-haired ginger she-cat before she was able to express any words. His serious expression softened with a chuckle "Good morning Eveningspirit." His deep voice broke past the chilly morning sky. "I don't know how long it will take for me to get used to hearing that." He offered a small but shy smile as he glanced back around the camp, observing all the multitudes of different cats. It did not take too much time for the tom to refocus, despite his excitement. "I presume everything ran smoothly yesterday while I was gone?"

The she-cat smiled at his honesty and flicked his shoulder lightly with her tail tip. "You'll be used to it before you know it." Her eyes roamed over their surroundings, it was a peaceful morning and everyone was going about their daily routines with no issue. "Everything went well yesterday, im sure you would have heard something by now if it hadn't." She laughed softly and turned back to Thistlestar.
Thistlestar smirked in quiet agreement before glancing over to the fresh kill pile "If you haven't already, would you like to join me to eat?" Thistlestar offered kindly, taking in Eveningspirit with heavy consideration. It was an odd feeling now knowing he was leader. Just a couple moons ago, the two were considered equals as he was deputy and she a Trusted. Though he felt no different in the moment, he knew that his new position held him at a higher standard. He knew that approaching his clan mates had to change, but it felt odd. One other thing he had to get used to.

Eveningspirit purred at his invitation, she knew things would be different now that he was leader now but she would always consider the tom a friend. "I'd love to join you." As soon as she spoke her stomach grumbled, sending a rush of heat to her face. "Haha, so how are you feeling now that you're back?" She didn't know the extent of his journey the day before, but hoped he had gotten enough rest upon arriving back.
Thistlestar's tattered ear flickered at the sound of the grumbling, a small smirk growing across the tom's face, his green eyes taking in the she-cat from her paws to her head "Perfect timing." He chuckled as the two made their way towards the fresh kill pile.
Thistlestar paused, thinking hard on the she-cat's inquiry. Where to start. The experience in itself was... amazing. He couldn't help but smile to himself at the memories. "I have to admit, I slept more than I am used to... but I don't feel fully rested." He spoke up, his eyes glancing down at the she-cat before taking a look at the fresh kill pile. With no hesitancy, the leader nudged away a couple of fresh kill that laid at the top until he reached the body, grabbing a rather small vole that laid colder that the rest. " But I am happy to be back."

She listened to his story as she followed him to the fresh kill pile, her mouth opened to respond but seeing him dig out the smallest peice of prey drove her words to change. "Thistlestar, I know as leader you have to look after the clan first, but you will be no good to us or yourself, if you don't take care of yourself." Her eyes moved from the scrawny vole to the tom, worry flashing in her orbs.
Just then, Finchwatcher, one of the other Trusted members, approached with a rabbit dangling from her jaws. Following behind her, Dovewish carried two squirrels and a mouse by their tails. The prey was rather small but had decent amount of meat on them. As the cooler seasons moved in, prey were becoming more scrawny. Both females laid their catches on the pile. Finchwatcher stepped forward, her light green eyes concerned. "Thistlestar" she greeted with a polite dip of her head. "We came across fox scent within our borders. I believe they were only passing through but I thought you should know."
Dovewish nodded in agreement, her beautiful blue eyes illuminating in the sunlight and her glossy gray pelt dancing in the slight breeze. Dovewish was the daughter of Cardinalstar but was rather quiet and usually off doing her own thing. The sweet, elegant she-cat stepped forward beside Finchwatcher, dipping her head the same as her fellow hunter. "If you are worried about it, we can take a few more cats out to investigate." Her voice was soft, smooth and thick like honey.
Thistlestar offered the she-cat a small smile, setting the vole down to his paws. "I appreciate the concern Eveningspirit," he began, his voice deepening slightly as his tail flickered out to touch the she-cat's shoulder gently. "My appetite is quite small today, so this vole will do for now." The lie was smooth and effortless, but necessary. His body ached food, especially after his trip to Starclan, but his natural habit of eating only after bringing in fresh kill himself won the decision as always.
Before he could get another word out, Thistlestar noted the approaching figures in the corner of his eyes. His naturally stern expression returned as he turned to face the approaching cats only to find the welcoming sight of Finchwatcher and Dovewish. Thistlestar returned the nod to both she-cats, noting the concerned expression the Trusted member fashioned. His slightly straighted posture only grew more erect as the she-cat relayed her news. His green eyes followed as Dovewish stepped forward.
"Thank you for relaying this to me." Thistlestar spoke up, his spring green eyes falling kindly on Dovewish before jumping to meet Finchwatcher "I will accompany a team to scout the area for fresher scents if there are any-" He felt his own muscles clench in protest, reminding him of the tiring events of the night before. "If you haven't eaten already please, stay and eat. You did well in bringing this up to my attention."
"Thank you, Thistlestar." Finchwatcher took one of the squirrels they had brought in and settled beside Thistlestar and Eveningspirit. She gestured for Dovewish join her and took a mighty bite out of the squirrel, feeling the hunger grip her stomach.
"Thank you" Dovewish repeated more quietly, feeling a bit uncomfortable to be in a casual presence with the new leader. She settled next to Finchwatcher to share her squirrel. The gray she-cat took a small piece of the mouse and chewed, enjoying the flavor of the forest the squirrel carried. Dovewish wasn't as savage as Finchwatcher had been with the squirrel but gave an amusing twitch of her whiskers as Finchwatcher enjoyed her piece of prey. After swallowing her bite, she then turned to Eveningspirit, her blue eyes kind. "Eveningspirit. Your looking well. How have things been with you?"

Eveningspirit nodded to Thistlestar, only outwardly accepting his words, she knew better than to push to far. The she-cat had just picked up a sparrow from the pile when Finchwatcher and Dovewish approached with their news of foxes. "I would like to join the patrol if that's alright Thistlestar." Her worry for the new leader now transferred to the danger that may be lurking within their territory.
As the others settled and began eating, Eveningspirit took a bite of her own meal. The sound of her name drew her eyes to Dovewish. "I'm doing alright, just trying to keep busy." The ginger she-cat didn't often have free time, she stuck to a daily routine and was known to take on more than her share of duties in the clan.
"I know the feeling" Dovewish responded with a chuckle. She then turned her attention to Thistlestar, "What about you, Thistlestar?" She grew warm under her fur in embarrassment for addressing the leader.
" I would appreciate the help Eveningspirit." Thistlestar responded, giving her a small, approving nod before picking up his pick and stepped aside. Thistlestar carefully melted down into a comfortable position on his stomach, cradling the small vole in between his paws. The leader took in the sight of the she-cats with a thoughtful look and patiently waited for take their first bites before he proceeded to take a bit from his own kill, the body a bit more firmer than he had anticipated. Despite the new concern that clouded his mind, he felt a comforting sense of peace as he sat surrounded by the she-cats.
Thistlestar took in the small talk with interest, glancing back and forth from the warriors. A small shock of surprise disrupted his intense observations as he heard his new name called out. It couldn't be helped. Having grown up, Thistlestar was much more of the observant cat of the bunch, finding comfort in listening more than speaking himself. He couldn't help but realize in that moment that that habit would have to be altered now that he was leader.
"There is always much to do in Leaf-Bare, where prey is scarce and other animals find difficulty in finding food as well." He responded, his tone matching his serious expression. He paused for a moment, intending to end his part of the conversation with just that statement, but the inner pressure to say more pressed him to continue on. "The adjustment I must admit, is an odd one." Thistlestar added carefully, his green orbs glancing off in the distance, taking in the distant sight of kits rolling around in play combat. "But I appreciate the lack of formality thus far, it's made the transition to leader much less uncomfortable." He offered a small side smile to Dovewish before distributing it to the Trusted members.
Dovewish nodded and gave a nervous chuckle, "yeah. I bet." She turned her attention to the kits tussling, enjoying the simple little moments before turning back and taking another small bite out of the squirrel and swallowing. "Do you feel any different? Having nine lives now?"
Finchwatcher had finished her half of the squirrel and was now sitting up, grooming.
Cardinalsong emerged from the warriors den, the ginger tom stretching out for a moment, licking his chops as he straightened back up. He noticed his sister eating with the leader and several Trusted. He trotted over to them. "Hey sis," He said nudging her shoulder, before joining the group. He dipped his head to Thistlestar. "Thistlestar, congratulations,"
Thistlestar took in a bite of his vole. It was a rather small meal even for himself, but there was something very fulfilling about the rather old kill. It could have been because it had been sometime since the tom ate. Last thing he could remember was eating a crow the morning before his Nine Lives ritual. Having been too nervous, the leader had passed on eating before taking his trip. Dovewish's inquiries brought his mind back to the present, causing his green orbs to find her own pair of blue eyes, his brows furrowing in deep contemplation before responding "Oh yes, most definitely." He responded with all seriousness, his naturally stern face adding to the heaviness of his words "I am still getting adjusted to flying though, it is much harder than the birds make it seem though." He glanced off casually, a small smile breaking the serious expression that laid dominant across the leader's face. The ability to joke so casually did not come very often to the tom, especially in the mists of acquaintances, but today felt different. There was peace within the tom, despite his exhausted state.
The entrance of a new cat caused the leader's natural serious state to melt back into place, his green eyes locking onto the sight of Cardinalsong. He dipped his head back in return "Thank you Cardinalsong." He spoke up, glancing over at the fresh kill pile before turning back to the warrior "Please, take a moment to sit down and eat with us." He offered calmly, his stern expression failing to show his genuine offer.
Dovewish was unsure whether to laugh at Thistlestar's joke or simply nod. Instead, she let out a small chuckle and twitched her whiskers. When her brother approached, she stretched her neck up and touched Cardinalsong's nose with her's. "Hello, brother." She greeted then nodded at Thistlestar's offer. "Oh, yes. Please join us." She hadn't spoken to her sister or brother in a while. She usually kept to herself but it was always a treat to spend time with them.
Cardinalsong licked his lips at the sight of the freshkill. "Don't mind if I do!" He said eagerly picking up a small vole and digging in beside his sister. "So what's the new order Thistlestar? Got big plans for the clan now that you're leader? Going to start holding parties every night?" He asked a mrrow of amusement in his voice, whiskers twitching.
Thistlestar grazed the last of meat he could off his vole when Cardinalsong rejoined them. The leader couldn't hold back the chuckle. "Big plans Cardinalsong." He grinned, taking in the warrior with intense interest "I actually was planning to recruit you to aid me." He allowed the words to sink in, giving the warrior the opportunity to bask in the moment before calmly adding "The camp has been rather messy lately, more so than usual." He took in the sight of the camp, which was rather well kept, with false disappointment "I need a strong leader to step up and take the reigns of my newest invention- Pick Up Crew." The tom's thin tail flickered playfully behind him as his intense gaze burned into the warrior.
