She felt a prickling of unease. Not that that wasn't a common feeling in the league. She had learned faster than anything it was normal, like a permanent atmosphere that penetrated their slice of the world. But she was no fool, at least, not on these kinds of issues. Elleth could take notice the slight change, a sort of restlessness in the air. She walked and acted like nothing had changed, as if somehow it could make the world normal. But again, she wasn't ignorant to it. Something stirred in the air. But she wasn't dumb enough to provoke it.
Instead, she followed the rather stale scent of mouse that was old enough that following it seemed rather pointless. It was routine at this point, nothing more.

"Are you going to keep wandering like a lost kittypet all day?" The huntress drawled from high above the ebony feline, her shadow lined pelt of rust start against the weak autumnal sky. It was a rare sight to see anyone apparently doing nothing, even more so when the cat was so blatantly lazing about.
Senescence sprawled comfortably across a dark branch, heavy scarring lining her body, her eyes mismatched, one a blind violet from an old injury that originated from a time before the league, the other the haint blue she'd been graced with at birth. A bloodstained pendant of slate gray stone hung on from a rusted necklace chain, lightly bumping against her white chest as she leaned forwards ever so slightly to peer down at the cat below her. Unlike Elleth, the she-cat seemed utterly at ease despite the certain feeling to the air, her gaze daring to be bored and disinterested though most cats were wise to stay on edge, lest they be surprised by one of Vera's spawn hiding just around the corner.

"What? Isn't it obvious I'm super engaged in hunting?" The comment was, obviously, filled to the brim with sarcasm, and she gave a huff of air like a silent laugh at her own comment as she lifted her head, letting her sunflower optics rise up to meet the gaze of the she cat above. She looked her over, curiosity hinting her features as she looked the she cat up and down, and yet, whatever conclusion she came to about the other feline she hid well enough under a relatively relaxed and casual half grin, something a little more sleazy than friendly, but at least amiable enough for the league.
"Anyways, is there something else you'd prefer me to be doing?" The inquiry was a slightly sardonic, but somewhere beneath its surface there was an actual tinge of curiosity bubbling. Did the other she cat have anything better for her to do? Sure she could hunt more actively, maybe see if there was sparing practice to be done, or patrols to join, but those cats so afraid of being caught slacking off were already doing those things. It would be redundancy. And, if there was one thing Elleth really did despise, it was pointlessness.

"Well, either you could actually put some effort into pretending to be busy, or we could drop all of that and go do just about anything but stay here. Terrorize some kittypets, kill a clan cat, burn the forest down, there's more than a few things to choose from." She replied easily, leaning over further, to the point her body was half hanging off the branch. All it would take was a little slip and she'd come tumbling head first down into the dirt, but she seemed to be keeping her balance remarkably well. That is, until she simply let herself slip off upside down, twisting sharply to land on her paws and roll past Elleth, springing to her paws and continuing to walk on without a moment's hesitation. Without missing a beat, Senescence cast her gaze behind her to the other huntress, a brow arched in question. "So, the question is. Do you wanna keep 'hunting' or actually find something halfway interesting to do?"
Unlike most of the League, who seemed so concerned with being caught anywhere but their proper places, she couldn't care less. If they had a problem with it they could bring it up to her. Until then, she'd keep doing what she wanted, and they could waste their time with useless training and pretending to keep themselves otherwise occupied.

Well, she was impressed. Actually a little more than impressed, because this cat's landing skills were pretty awesome, and admittedly something she probably couldn't do. Not to mention this random tree cat just mentioned killing a clan, which automatically meant fun times. Still, she wanted to keep her cool, the last thing she wanted to do was proved that she was maybe a little lamer than this other cat was and not able to do cool flip-tricks off trees, so she gave a chill shrug. "Sure, why not?" She said, picking up her pace to keep at Senesence's side.
"So, do you offer these adventures to all the ladies around her?" She asked with a teasing wink, the thought that maybe she shouldn't push her luck with tree cats who could do awesome tree jumps either not crossing her mind, or she just was gutsy enough to take the risk. It wasn't likely the reason would change any outcome, so perhaps the reason was then entirely pointless.

'Awesome' wasn't usually a word used to describe Senescence. 'Suicidal' or 'Insane' probably would have been more accurate, for there were only a select few cats willing to risk their own lives for seemingly no reason at all. Gazing at the yellow eyed feline now beside her, the former proxy snorted, quite clearly unfazed by the she-cat's comment. "It's offered to anyone I find tolerable enough to deal with for hours on end. Congratulations, you're less annoying than ninety percent of the League. Best to keep it that way if you want to keep me from locking you in a burning building later."
The scarred feline spoke in a bored tone, but everything about her screamed that she was entirely serious about killing the feline if she got too irritating. Perhaps not the best way to convince someone to join you on mysterious adventures, then again, she'd never been accused of being the encouraging sort anyway.

Despite the fact that this she cat posed a very real threat to her life, and even though she wasn't one to doubt death threats even when they weren't said in tones that implied literal life or death circumstances, Elleth seemed perfectly fine with just trotting side by side with the heavily scarred feline. It would have been wrong to think Elleth was a cat like Senescence who seemed to have a death-wish. She'd survived things that had flat out murdered entire groups because she had enough street-smarts and a stronger desire for life than pretty much any other emotional or physical need. It was hard to reconcile that with her actions sometimes. She was the type of person who seemed to dance with death up and until the final few beats, and then fought like hell to escape the ending bows.
"If you keep on like that you'll make me blush. But, you know, I'll try not to annoy you to bad." She let that linger on for a heartbeat, before thinking to add, "You know though, if you do decide to kill me off you really should use the burning building idea. I'd like that. Seems like a pretty neat way to go, if I had to."

"Also one of the most painful, so I'm told." As if to accentuate her point, her eyes drifted to the scars across her flank, rippling and pink from burns sustained near five moons ago now. In fact, that fire was probably one of the few things she was known for nowadays. A fire had broken out after lightning struck a massive tree, and one of Vera's sons, Devante, a newly named proxy at the time, had gotten trapped under the blazing branches. Due to the combined effort of Vera, another of her kits, Hathor, and Senescence, the tom had been freed, though not without consequences. Vera lost a life and the litter she'd been pregnant with, and Devante had lost the use of one of his legs, rendering him incapable of continuing his duties as proxy.
Everyone else had run, but she'd stayed and helped another feline without regard to her own safety. Some thought she was a suck up, others regarded her as crazy, and still others as weak for putting anyone above herself. Most were careful around her, believing she might actually be loyal to the Nemesis, though that was the only instance to back up the notion.
"You'd get along with my mother. Too bad we'd have to kill her on sight since she's DayClan's leader and a traitor to the League." Senescence seemed almost disturbingly nonchalant about killing her relative, but then again, she was too nonchalant about everything, so it didn't make much of a difference.

She sort of nodded along with Senescence's comment, taking a look at the wound and being at the very least intelligent enough to realize that something fire or burning related had probably caused it. The question of what happened was on the tip of her tongue, but she reconsidered asking, figuring it was likely not best to bring up old wounds metaphorically, even if the other she cat had literally. Unlike the other hunter, she hadn't lived through those same deadly events. She would have been living miles away, the league not even a thought that graced her mind. Though, looking at the rather nasty wounds, she considered the fact maybe she was lucky to have avoided whatever situation had lead to that. Maybe fire wasn't the most pleasant way to go. Still sounded pretty metal though.
She blinked at the whole Dayclan leader part. "Wait, your mother is the Dayclan leader? Why aren't you there living it up there instead of out here? Mom issues?" It was weird to think anyone would willingly choose the league if they didn't have a better place to go to. Well, then again, she considered her own situation. Why was she even here? Maybe it wasn't good to try and psychoanalyze. Everyone had their reasons. Or at least, most people did. "And how does a Dayclan cat end up a traitor to the league?" The entire situation seemed pretty far fetched, and it was hard for her to imagine how a clan cat that came from a place that sounded so sickly warm and fuzzy could have and link to their dark shady hellscape, not to mention any of the other strange details that had to be pieced together for the other hunter's story to make a lick of sense. For the first time she considered the fact that the cat beside her might actually be crazy. Then she mentally shrugged it off. Even if she was crazy, it was bound to make a good story.

"Mom issues? Hardly. To put it how my uncle does, the entire family is insane and you'd be wise to avoid every one of us, but I guess it's a bit too late for that isn't it?" Once again, there was that note of dead seriousness to her tone, one that suggested Elleth was in for a rather wild ride.
"Now, where to begin. I suppose at the beginning. Now, my mother and her brother were born in the tunnels of the Regime. In their prison specifically. To a League father and Regime mother many, many seasons ago. The long and short of that is my uncle, Sean, stayed in the Regime, my mother, Green, was a Spy Cadet briefly under the group's leader, Commander Largo, until she got herself imprisoned again and then ditched that for the League. Worked her way up to Assassin, fell in love with my father, Rake, the Assassin successor. Eventually they both became proxies. Rake, who is an alleged demon so I'm told, was warden for a while under Swift E'tani. At some point my mother gave birth to my litter. Green became Deacon under Swift's successor, Roxanne. Deacon was essentially a position in between proxy and warden. They were the future Warden, and served pretty much the same function. I, along with my adoptive brother, Shame, was proxy during Roxanne's reign as well, after returning to the League. If I recall Green stepped down from Deacon after those proxy trials, but that's a story all it's own, and she stayed a proxy. Everyone lost their rank when the Warden, Severine became Nemesis, but my mother, and two brothers of mine were chosen as proxies, along with a former leader of a now nonexistent clan, CrowClan. A later Nemesis, Duriel promoted me to proxy again until I stepped down, the same leader killing one of my littermates. Oh, and he was Deal's son. The same Deal who's a prisoner now, by the way." Truthfully, Senescence was giving Elleth a lot more information than she probably cared to know, but too late, she'd opened that can of worms and now she had to see it through. Besides, the huntress seemed the type to want to know about all the things she'd never known, about the League and the cats in it and the the territories beyond.
But, they still weren't at the end of the story yet. "Following Duriel was Quartet, the daughter of Indy the second Nemesis of the League, and niece of Katie, the fifth Nemesis. Both her mother an aunt were Shamans at some point in their lives as well. That was when Green left, and became the Deputy of DayClan. When Quartet found out, Green was banished, and then became DayClan's leader more than five seasons ago, now. Vera briefly had a paw in DayClan, also a long story, though she's since decided Green, who most now know as Glowstar, isn't worth the trouble. Glowstar also got catnapped by SunClan's Priestess at some point, inducted into their cult, and then her and Foxstar killed each other. They're still friends, but my brother, Rift, who lives in DayClan, has tried to kill the SunClan leader more than a few times at this point as revenge. Of course, this doesn't even touch Green's adopted kits, nor on the rest of the family, including those living in the Regime, WaterClan, and of course, here in the League and in DayClan, but should give you more than enough of an idea of Glowstar's past, and a general synopsis of her side of the family, as well as some League information."
All throughout the conversation, she spoke with a bland disinterest, as if they were talking about particularly average weather. Senescence had always been detached from her family, and as she'd very briefly hinted at somewhere in her tale, she'd been gone from the League for a while in her youth. She could go on, for hours and hours, about each member of her family and the particulars of their lives and such, without a moment's consideration for the danger she might put them in. She would also, in a heartbeat, kill even her own siblings and mother, so it was a touch more understandable then. "If you're not already too bored by the story, we could always stop by the Regime. I'm sure Sean would be happy to tell stories about Green, and if not, he's more than happy to talk about himself, or we can simply annoy him and the rest of the group. Otherwise, we can just continue heading the way we are."
By now, they were well out of League territory, wandering the rogue lands beyond. Senescence was a half-step ahead, guiding them towards a place only she seemed to know the location of, though at her question of heading for the Regime, she stopped, waiting for an answer from her fellow huntress. After all, they'd have to turn halfway around to head there.

Well Senescence was right, Elleth did love a good story, especially long ones with twists and turns and weird events. But the hunter’s tale was also admittedly more than she had bargained for. She tried to pay attention, she really did, and she might have actually listened almost attentively to the entire thing, if it wasn't for the weird sense that she was forgetting something. Every once in a while, something in the story would trigger that nagging feeling of something being right on her tongue, like a distant childhood memory that was just narrowly evading her conscious mind. She just didn't know what it was.
Elleth would be midway through wondering what was just barely avoided her mental grasp, when she'd snap back to reality and realize that Senescence had jumped on to another Nemesis and had started naming a new list of proxies. She'd try listening again, but all the sudden the feeling would return and she'd zone out again trying to recall whatever she was trying to recall. She felt bad, but to be fair, Senescence wasn't making life easy for her. It would have been easier to pay attention if the narrator of these stories didn't sound as passionate about the tales as a bag of rocks. Still, she tried hard enough to pay attention and absorb all the information that she got the jist of it. At least her version of the jist of it, which was that Senescence and her family had practically managed to outlive like twelve generations of her own (which she supposed explained why the other hunter looked so rough), and that they'd been longtime power-players in the league. It wasn't what she had expected from the she cat, she'd give her that.
She didn't really know how to respond to the choice, however. She'd just been following along behind the other hunter for a half hour listening to a random story, possible being dragged off into a murder den which was as likely as pretty much anywhere at this point. Still, the Regime did sound tempting, if only because she still hadn't wrapped her head around how those cats managed to live in tunnels underground, or what that even must be like. Truth be told, Elleth wasn't the super indecisive type, but she had no real answer to the offer. Going off into who-knows-where sounded equally as enticing as meeting Senesence’s probably crazy relatives in the weird underground tunnel network. "Listen, at this point I've pretty much put all my faith in the fact you know what's interesting around here, and after hearing all that I don't feel like I really need that much faith anymore anyways. So to put it simply, I think you should decide, because I'm willing to go with the craziest option, and I get the sense you'll be a better judge of that than me."
It probably wasn't smart idea to let a person you just met who just told you one of the craziest stories you ever heard (and also not-so-subtly warned you they along with their entire family were mad) make a decision of where to go for you. But Elleth had followed Senescence's judgement thus far, for better or for worse, and she figured she was too far down this rabbit hole now to back out.
Also, she was still sort of preoccupied with that thing she couldn't quite remember and it was starting to drive her insane.

Senescence couldn't blame Elleth for tuning out half the story. It was rather long winded, even for the 'short' version, and she did indeed sound rather disinterested by it all. She did sense that there was more to her fellow huntress lack of attention than the tale itself, but that was her own business. The rust and shadow she-cat didn't exactly mind talking into empty space, she had hundred of stories she could tell even outside of her relatives, namely about cats she'd killed, with different keepsakes from each to show for reference. They weren't here to talk about her hoarding issues, however, and at least the story had been a good time sink.
"If you're looking for the craziest option, then to the Regime it is. If nothing else, you'll either get a good laugh out of Sean, or want to kill him if he's around. Feel free to do both." She replied, spinning on her paws and trotting diagonally from the way they had been headed before, back towards the Regime, though her gaze was more focused on the ground. After all, legend had it that Renegade Regime's tunnels stretched under the entirety of the territories, and they weren't exactly wrong. She knew a few of the entrances, but it would be a bit of a walk.
"Oh, and no matter what he promises you, don't agree to get him a white hamster." Senescence added as an afterthought, letting that rather bizarre comment hang in the air without explanation.

There was some slight flicker of disappointment that arose in Elleth at the realization that, wherever Senescence had planned on taking her, she wouldn't get to see it. But then the thought of seeing and breaking into an underground tunnel network and meeting one of these insane relatives of this other she cat took hold, and she didn't feel quite so upset anymore. Part of her wondered how the whole thing would go down. She didn't know much about the Regime; they weren't a clan so her immediate bias couldn't kicked in, but they were another major group with the potential power to do some serious damage, at least when working as a group. She figured breaking in would be pretty interesting when considering that. Or maybe because Senescence had family there it would be easier? Then again, the other hunter had just offered to let her kill the guy, so maybe her relationship with this 'Sean' fellow, so maybe they weren't that close. Oh well, she figured she'd better not waste that many brain cells on something she had no way of logistically planning out. She supposed she'd see the situation, see what Senescence was doing, and either create or follow along with the plan from there. Maybe not the most safe way of dealing with the upcoming situation, but she supposed neither was the general idea in the first place.
"Listen, if I was to find a white hamster, do you really think I'd give it to someone else? That thing would be mine." She said with a laugh. Believe it or not, that was one of the less crazy requests she'd heard of, and registering the rather bizarre sentence barely took her more than a second.

"Don't tell Sean that. He'd do anything to get one, and he's been searching. So, if you do find one, keep it to yourself. He doesn't need the encouragement." Senescence warned. Could she stop Elleth? Not really. But they didn't need a repeat of the duck adoption incident.
It wasn't much longer before the huntress turned ever so slightly, slipping down into what appeared to be a fox's den, disappearing into the darkness and leaving the other feline to follow. Surprisingly, the supposed den never seemed to end, and soon enough, once their eyes had adjusted, the tunnel spread before them, going off who knew where, with an infinite number of branches, twists, and turns. It was all but impossible to map out the path they took, surrounded by the ground and earthy scents broken up occasionally by prey scent and even some bones of weary creatures who lost themselves in the depths.
There was no telling how long they walked. Down here, there was no measure of time, only the underground and the sounds of their own heartbeats to accompany them. At some point, however, a new scent mixed with the earthen walls, which had been artificially widened. They had reached the Regime. Or, more accurately, they were just outside the range of their underground lands, but the Regime had claimed all the tunnels for their own, even those beyond the territory that had been marked above ground. "We're here."
Sean took a deep breath with tears thick in his eyes, "Okay Snowy," He swallowed hard, "This is the surface, you mean everything to me Snowy, you're really almost all I have left and I want you to enjoy the winter and the feeling of open land. SO YOU CAN HATE IT AND NEVER WANT TO COME BACK! So. I'm going to put you down and you know... If you leave I guess you were never truly mine."
With that Sean placed down his prized possession, his incredibly rare white syrian hamster. A rare hamster that was not a he and was actually pregnant at the time and he's probably gone through two hammies already not noticing that they were different hamsters that looked alike, "Go on Snowy."
He watched as the white hamster move slowly about the grass weaving in and out of Sean's paws, "Yes Snowy, let the outside world fester you with rage," Sean encouraged.
The white hamster stared up at Sean with big eyes and then ran away instantly at a speed Sean didn't think Snowy was capable of.
"SNOWY NO!"
His voice echoed throughout the entire forest. The birds fled from the trees and his words made his way all the way to the two league cats already hearing his cry of agony.

"We're too late. He's lost it." Senescence sighed, the sound of her uncle's agonized wailing ringing throughout the tunnels. After a momentary pause to locate the source, she led them another few steps through the underground, before turning towards the feeling of a breeze that soon turned into a speck of light. The world opened up for them once more, bright light forcing the huntress to blink until her eyes adjusted, only to see a small white hamster darting past.
That was Snowy, or at least, Senescence assumed so. A glance around her surrounding revealed Sean, looking rather unhappy, if she had to say so. "So you found a white hamster after all." The scarred feline commented, looking wholly sympathetic to the fact the Sentinel had lost his prized pet.
