Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Mudkit shivered in spite of herself as she stepped out of the Nursery one morning to find the ground covered in a thin layer of snow. It wasn't too much snow - most of it would most likely be melted by the Afternoon - but it was still cold and uncomfortable to step on, especially for a young kit who had never experienced snow before. The small brown she-cat curiously poked at it with her paw for a moment, before worriedly gazing across the camp to where the Medicine Cat Den was. How was she going to cross an entire field of this cold stuff to visit Graythorn? It still didn't seem fair to her that the older cats made her move her nest over to the Nursery once she had properly settled into Summerclan; she had liked staying with Graythorn and learning about his job. Pouting, she plopped down onto the snow in defeat. Now she had to stay in a crowded den with a bunch of other kits who seemed to like playing with each other more than playing with her. It had been days since the move and she only barely knew their names.

(Nice picture!)
"Hey! What's that white stuff all over the ground?" Crimsonkit came bolting out of the nursery nearly crashing into both Mudkit and Sunpaw. When his feet hit the snow he slid for several tail lengths. "This is fun!" He came running back and slid to a stop throwing the white powdery snow onto both cats.
Sunpaw's whiskers twitched with amusement as frozen flakes dusted her tortoiseshell coat. She cupped a small amount of snow in her paw and tossed it lightly at Crimsonkit. "So it's a snowfight you want, is it?" she purred.

"Is that what this stuff is called?" the reddish colored kit asked. He shook off his fur causing some of the snow to fly onto Mudkit. "What is it?" He looked down where his paw had made an imprint in the snow and saw that some had turned into water. He took a lick and it tasted cold and refreshing. "Mm, it's good!"
The little she-cat had barely opened her mouth to answer Sunpaw's question when Crimsonkit had bolted past, nearly causing her to lose her balance. As she struggled to stay upright, her impulsive denmate had darted back, sending a wave of snow cascading onto her, causing her to let out a squeak of fright at the sudden cold. Not paying attention to the playful conversation between the two slightly older cats, Mudkit quickly brushed the tiny white flakes off of her whiskers...only for Crimsonkit to shake his pelt and send more flying right back at her face.
When Crimsonkit turned to look at Mudkit, he saw a clearly annoyed scowl directly at him, bits and pieces of snow falling off her head as she twitched her ears.

"Aw, come on. Lighten up!" Crimsonkit mewed with a laugh. "This white stuff's fun!" This time the reddish kit swatted a paw full of snow in Sunpaw's direction.

"I'll play with you," she mewed, blocking the projectile with her feathery tail. "if you tell Mudkit sorry. What one loves, another may not. Do we really have the right to decide what she should and should not enjoy?"
"It's cold," Mudkit answered stiffly, wiping the snow off of her head as quickly as she could. She didn't like the cold, not one bit. Perhaps it was because her coat was thinner than the other cats'. Frustrated with Crimsonkit's antics, she angryily marched over to stand next to Sunpaw. "She's right," the kit growled in agreement, shivering slightly as a cold gust of wind blew past them. "S-So stop getting my fur wet!"

Crimsonkit looked at the two cats staring at him and waiting for a reply. A flurry of emotions seemed to be running through him at the moment. First and foremost irritation - irritation at them staring at him and cornering him. Second, amusement at Mudkit's antics over her dislike of snow. And third, what was it he was feeling? Remorse? No it couldn't be! But something was there deep down inside him wanting to make amends. The more he though about it the more prominent the thought became. "Oh alright," he grumbled. "I'm sorry you don't like snow." He hoped they wouldn't notice the way he skirted around not saying he was sorry for what he did.
At this, Sunkit swept her tail around, spraying snow at Crimsonkit, though she was very careful to get none on Mudkit. "I guess we can work on that." she mused, whiskers twitching in amusement.
Mudkit snorted at the young tom's half-hearted apology, rolling her eyes at him dismissively. "...Fiiiiine," she finally conceded, knowing that Graythorn would want her to get along with the other kits. And though she'd never admit it out loud, as much as Crimsonkit annoyed her, he was sort of nice to be around. "Just don't do it again, got it?"

Crimsonkit shook the snow off his red fur once again. "Oh, you're no fun! What are you going to do all Leafbare? I bet this stuff comes around a lot when it's cold." He was pleased they didn't press him further over an apology. "Are you going to stay cooped up in the nursery all the time?" Truth was he wanted to have other kits to play with him in the snow and wished Mudkit would be less fussy about it. "I bet you wouldn't mind it so much if you got used to it."
Mudkit stared at Crimsonkit as he pointed out the flaw in her logic, before staring down at the pile of snow uneasily. "It's just..." she stammered, slightly embarassed for making such a fuss; not to mention making herself look like a crybaby in front of her denmate. "It's so cold..." The brown she-cat shivered, memories of being cold, scared, and alone flooding her mind; being left behind by a silhouette of a cat whose face she could no longer remember. Visibly, her face became downcast, and her ears folded back against her head, worried. "Sunpaw...? Real Summerclan warriors have to hunt in this stuff, right? They have to...to take care of us?"

Crimsonkit sensed Mudkit's fear and wondered why she was so afraid of the snow. He could also tell she wasn't just being fussy, this was real to her. He jumped in and answered without waiting for Sunpaw to reply. "Of course they have to," he meowed. "Look over there." He pointed with his tail to the fresh kill pile. Some warriors were placing a fresh catch on top of the prey already there. Snowflakes dotted Pantherpaw's back as she set down a bird. Bonefang shook his fur after depositing his prey. "See? That's all a part of being a warrior and I'm gonna be the best in the whole clan when I'm old enough to hunt!" He puffed out his chest as he spoke.
Mudkit nodded absentmindedly, watching the warriors in the distance as she thought over what they were telling her. Real warriors hunted in the cold and snow to take care of everyone, including her. If she wanted to be a real warrior like Sunpaw and Crimsonkit, this was something she'd have to deal with. And she was going to be a real warrior! She had promised Graythorn she would! With a newfound determination, she stood up a little straighter, padding over to the largest pile of snow nearby. After a moment of hesitation, she stuck her paw right into the snow, letting it sink down until she could feel the frozen ground beneath.
