Royalty. Truly, Silentheart had never expected such a thing to happen to her family. Sure, it was large, and that alone garnered significant favor among the BrookClan cats, but really, she hadn't expected Kerrigan to ever acknowledge them much. Then again, maybe that was simply because the head of House Sterling hadn't made any apparent desire obvious to gain the rank of Dvorayne. Still below Cyd, but even so, it was a noticeable change. Their den was the same, given as it was theirs because of her daughter's position, but their treatment was better, if that was even the right word for it. Cats were more hesitant to say negative things, even about Springlockedgrave, in their presence, they were acknowledged as though they had some sort of power. They did, she supposed, though not nearly so much as any highly ranked religious or leading official.
It wasn't that it was unpleasant, but the blind feline was... disappointed. Mostly at the lack of distinction between honesty and falsehood now. When you weren't all that important, it was easy to tell who to trust, but when cats were coming to you with honeyed words only for a chance at attaining royalty themselves, it became harder to distinguish what was genuine from not. Slipping from the den, the sun filtering through warmed her fur despite the chill that had begun to seep into the ground, signaling leaffall's growing presence.
Wisp padded past the blind family matriarch; while he respected royalty he had no desire for it for himself. It simply seemed like to much trouble and he managed to get in trouble all by himself. "Good morning Silentheart, how is your family doing?" He inquired out of his heart as he had recently figured out how to skin and preserve pelts. The warm furs would be lovely come winter and he wanted to make sure older cats and kits had some. He knew House Sterling had plenty of both. While realistically it would be impossible for every cat to have one, he would be determined to try. So he had been busy hunting and spreading around food as he caught more than he needed. On the bright side everyone was fed.

"We are well, considering recent events." The sightless she-cat responded, head swinging towards the sound of the tom's voice. With the flood, their den had flooded, not that it was surprising. With the home for the Vrachi and Acecoops being next to the waterfall, and underground to boot, it had filled with water rather quickly. Luckily, none of them had been inside, and the water had since receded. Not that it hadn't impacted her daughter, Springlockedgrave's herb stores, however. In recent days, Silentheart had taken charge, ordering her kin to hunt and share before feeding themselves, the large group of Dvorayne working together to help rebuild in the aftermath. Replenishing bedding for nests, hunting for the other houses as needed, even gathering herbs for Springlockedgrave to replenish the lost stores while she spent her days trying to tend to those injured.
As such a large family, it was their duty to protect those less fortunate than them, no matter their rank. Their line was rife with skilled hunters and fierce fighters, and it was not only inconsiderate, but downright unthinkable that they should to anything but use their skills to the benefit of BrookClan. Once the dust had finally settled, they could pull back and let things return to normal. But, that day wasn't today.
Even so, clan politics never stopped. Cats took their kindness with a grain of salt, or used it as an excuse to try and get close. Despite bearing no ill will towards Wisp, Silentheart still had that thought in the back of her mind to be skeptical of his motives. It was sad, really. She hadn't always been so cynical.
