Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Boodypaw watched as the Sun painted the sky brilliant shades of purple and red before slipping under the horizon. It was beautiful, but chilling, as no SunClan cat truly felt comfortable without their deity at their back. Just because the Sun was resting did not mean that His chosen all received the same luxury, though. The ginger tom turned back to the tree line and continued his self-assigned patrol along the DayClan border.
More and more cats were losing their wits and stumbling across the border lately, and Bloodypaw felt that, so long as he was able, he aught to put in the extra effort the keep his Clan safe. Sure, it was not his turn to patrol, but the truth was that the apprentice itched for confrontation, a sadistic trait that he likely inherited from his father. So far, the night had been as quiet as the one prior, and he was just about ready to turn back and head to camp.
The sunset over the endless fields of wheat never failed to dazzle the warrior after many moons in DayClan. Her youth's grim, desolate sunsets always stood in stark contrast to rolling waves of gold underneath the reddening sky. It was fer superior to the gray sky and dark sky of the city. Although the wheat fields were certainly a better place to live, there was one thing her old borders had that DayClan certainly did not: security. These Clans were so close to everything... and Glowstar could never stay neutral about anything. It wasn't a great combination.
Azura took it upon herself to look after SunClan's border on her own. She knew it was probably uncalled for, the cult of the Sun seemed far to familiar to her. That and they kidnapped Glowstar on some other occasion. The leader probably deserved it, but the grey and brown tabby did not want it to happen again. Besides, the patrol usually did not take terribly long. Their code made all of their patrols antisocial.
Her eyes fell onto the White Tree, a sign her route was coming to an end. In her observation she strayed ever so slightly from the path and onto SunClan's territory. She did not notice this slight deviation, and kept moving towards the landmark.
[ I'm aging him down a little bit for this roleplay, I thought it would be a bit more fun - he'll make more mistakes. I'd say he's 7-8 moons here & I love this location you picked! ]
Bloodypaw could not help but be drawn to White Tree as he neared the end of his route. The tree dominated the horizon now that the sun had set; its ethereal blossoms standing out bright like stars against the sky. There were not as many flowers as observed at his last visit, but it was still beautiful, and just as tempting: He wanted to climb its lengthy branches, swat at the bulbs, see how they moved, what they looked like torn apart... It was a shame it was on DayClan's side of the border.
Speaking on the border, he found himself right up on it, his mouth slightly ajar as he tasted the fragrant air. He looked very much at peace until an unfamiliar scent crossed his palate, causing his face to twist into an adorable snarl. There was another cat here, a DayClanner he thought, not that he had ever met one to know the scent. He instinctively let out a low hiss, "Who's there? Show yourself!"
[ Np! Sounds good, and thanks! It looked like a good spot for a first meeting!]
She cursed under her breath when she heard the cat's voice. She glanced over her should and saw the path she should have been on just a few feet away. The tabby sighed and shook her head. Of course she had to feel sleep deprived now of all nights, when some random cultist happened to be wandering about, but she did have some relief. The cat who called her out was clearly young. His voice sounded low, but there was a youthful edge to it that could not be pushed out. Whoever it was, she could take him.
"Shouldn't you be asleep? Your god isn't even out here anymore." The she-cat slipped from her place into the open space on DayClan's side of the border. Being they were the only two out here, she honed in on his voice immediately. Bloodypaw did not look like anything too impressive, except for that snarly face. A smirk etched its way onto her face. With a few tweaks it could work. "You had me thinking that you were a MoonClan cat."
Bloodypaw felt his blood boil; Who did this cat think she was, insulting him on his own territory?! It made him want to attack first and ask questions later, it was well within his rights to do so. Once he got a good look at Azura, though, he thought better of it. She was older and larger than him. Bloodypaw was a lot of things, but he was not so stupid as to pick a fight, in a middle of the night, alone, with an enemy Warrior that he was not so sure he could beat. He'd have to try to use his mind first for this one.
"A MoonClan cat never would have walked right up to you. They are cowards who hide in the shadows," He said fervently, his plummy tail high in the air, a sign of upmost confidence, "A proper SunClan cat does not hide from confrontation. I can tell you more about it, if you'd like. You DayClanners are not all that different than us, you just live in ignorance, but I can help bring you back to the light."
He certainly had some spirit to him, she'd give him that. She did not know anyone who could confidently spout what he just said without, well, laughing. He sounded like a kitten playing a game. She knew what made him so naive. Blind loyalty, a luxury Azura never had. Even though she had lived in DayClan for a large majority of her life, she still watched her back everywhere she want. The past haunted her, and it certainly did not allow her the luxury of blind loyalty.
She smirked and waved her tail. "Please, bring back into the light and show me how to please the sun..." A subtle, quiet laugh rang from her lips. "Like, do you hear yourself? You're saying I live in ignorance, while you center your life on something you can't even prove exists?"
Bloodypaw's tail lowered a bit, his ears pinned against his head, enraged. She had lead him on to think that she really believed his message... then turned around and took it all back with an insult. He was too angry to formulate a reply; this young ginger tom could only see red. He would not allow such blasphemy to be spoken without consequence on SunClan's territory. With a ferocious caterwaul, he lunged at Azura, his claws unsheathed and aiming at the DayClan cat's throat. He had had very little Warrior training and it showed, his movements clearly indicating where he was targeting.
(I figure they will have a little scuffle and Azura will win obviously, but maybe be impressed by him? We can make it up as we go lol)
Azura saw him tense up for a brief moment, and was bewildered by it. He had to be smarter than that. Well, maybe not, but she had to hope so. Even her dumb, young self what not have made this mistake, but here he came, flying at her like a fly towards a flyswatter. If Azura had any time to sigh, she would have, but time tended to be somewhat of an issue with an angry fur-ball trying to rip out your throat. She sidestepped his lunge with a quick jab of her hind legs and cleared him in plenty of time. Azura did not particularly want to fight, so she decided to give him a chance to back out. "Kid, that's your one free shot. One more and I'll end you."
Azura's quick response made Bloodypaw think twice about launching a second attack. He had sparred with many apprentices and a handful of Warriors, all from his Clan of course, but none of them seemed to move as fast as this DayClan she-cat. He wanted to know just how she did it. He dug his claws into the ground as he weighed his options, then replied with underserved conviction, "I'm just getting started. You need to get off SunClan territory before I end you." The ginger tom was defensively crouched low to the ground, waiting for the she-cat's response. Something about how she had been acting made him think that he would not get the reaction that he wanted.
He had too much fire for his own good. Her tail swept close to ground as she observed him. Perhaps she was a little arrogant, but he had done nothing to prove himself, other than proving his anger controlled him. Anger in battle was not necessarily bad, as long as it was controlled. Azura felt sorry for whatever that young tom's mentor had to deal with, but was grateful that he was not her responsibility.
His stance was certainly playing it safe. It seemed out of character, and she did not particularly care to go on offense. He would charge her. It was only a matter of time. She dropped from her ready stance and sat down with her tail wrapped around her paws. "I'm waiting. You can't do much from over there."
( nice reply! I was wondering how we were going to get to anything like training and you did a good job with that transition )
"You'll regret that!" Bloodypaw replied with a snarl. Azura was seriously ticking him off. She was not listening or him seriously. Sure, he was just an apprentice, and a young one at that, but he knew he was strong and made up for what he lacked in what he dubbed "intimidation." Of course, in reality he looked more like an angry kitten, but that did not change how he felt.
Bloodypaw did not waste any time launching his second attack. He knew he had an advantage because the other cat was sitting down casually instead of defensively, so he focused his move this time on the most sensitive part of her body: the stomach. With a ferocious yowl, Bloodypaw lurched toward the she-cat's abdomen, head first but with claws outreached. It was a good idea in theory but left no defending his own stomach.
{thanks! sorry for taking a bit to reply. I just finished finals today}
As she expected the tom was quite easy to provoke. Granted, her current position cost her a few fractions of a second in reaction time, but that would not be too much compared with his speed. It would be close, but the she-cat knew she could avoid injury. Even if he, somehow, caught her off guard, his strikes looked clumsy at best and would not inflict more than a few surface wounds without a stroke of luck. The she-cat felt in control, but she did not let her guard down.
Her eyes locked onto his form as soon as his angered snarl escaped from his lips. Azura expected this from him; attack, attack, attack. The tactic was no means bad for wearing down a weaker opponent, but this simply was not the case. Whatever. She warned him. With a quick adjustment of her forepaws and twist of her hips she executed a minimal pivot back kick at his head. The technique was akin to the typical one, but sacrificed power in the name of speed.
( no worries! take your time and never feel rushed with me Been a LONG time since I have roleplayed a proper fight, like years, so please bear with me lol)
Bloodypaw moved his head aside and dug his paws into the ground a split-second before Azura's blow landed. The left side of his face was hit, hard, but he had narrowly avoided a direct hit and was still on his feet, moving. The attack had set Bloodypaw's own off course: He had been forced to put his paws on the ground to steady himself, so he was no longer attacking with his claws, but instead with his bulk. It would have been a powerful attack had he not been considerably smaller than the older she-cat, and he was also no longer aiming at any vital spots.
Azura did not want to hurt him anymore than she had to, and the more he fought the line blurred more and more. She questioned his sanity. Would he fight her until he died of exhaustion? Her skills eclipsed his, anyone could see that. Perhaps she needed to make it painfully obvious. She let his bulk collide with her and take her to the ground, but did not rest. As he started to pass over she kicked up with her hindlegs to send him flying. Granted, it was not the smartest move. Her shoulder stung from the impact, but it was worth it.
Bloodypaw was air-born for a moment; he let out a yowl as his paws scrambled to regain balance. He landed with a thud a few tail-lengths away on all four feet but panting heavily. The blow had knocked the wind out of him and he was struggling to regain it. His breaths were too shallow, hurried, if he didn't calm down and focus he was sure to hyperventilate. Azura was scary strong compared to him and he knew in his heart that there was no way he was going to win this fight. But... he could't just give up! Not without the wrong being righted!
"Is that all you've got?" He said, a little feebly, but with a lot of fire, "I can keep going... but I'll let you... go... if you apologize."
She did not know if this persistence, hubris or both. He must know that she would not yield, and Azura knew the SunClan apprentice would never yield. It was almost worth an apology, but not quite. The she-cat laughed to herself. A lot of things fell into that category lately. She jumped to her feet and twirled around to face him. Her eyes glimmered with something along the lines of pity. "Hmm... no, I'll pass, but it sounds like you might need a break. We can stop if you can't handle it..."
Bloodypaw swished his tail from side to side. She was toying with him. He wanted nothing more than to attack again, but he was learning, albeit slowly. He was not going to win if he did that.
"Well, if you want a break so bad, take it. You don't need my permission." He was regaining his breath and tried to turn the situation around on her. He really was quite the childish young tom, but, then again, he would not be in this situation if he wasn't.
Of course he had some sort of comeback like that. She knew the type quite well. Azura chuckled and waved her tail over the grass. "I'm not the one who's breathless right now. Take a break, you need it." She did not tolerate things like that, but she gave him a free pass. He had not become annoying yet. "While you take your break, we can actually talk this out. You know, the option that does not involve me feeding your entrails to the vultures." She sat down and crossed her paws. "Let's start with names. I'm Azura."
Bloodypaw did not reply right away. He was still pretty angry, but his breathlessness was making him a little bit lenient, at least in regards to small-talk. The ginger tom wrapped his tail around his paws but kept his claws unsheathed, ready to strike at a moment's notice, "I'm Bloodypaw. But that doesn't mean you'll best me just because I'm an apprentice!"
(this thread is so refreshing because it's really the only one I get with Bloodypaw actually acting like a child. He has grown up so much xD)
