Foxbane wasn't a fan of water. She didn't particularly hate it, but she wasn't exactly a cat born to swim. The Senator was meant for trees, for running and climbing, not for diving or fishing, and her knowledge was basic at best. So it was confusing as to why she stood at the edge of the old dock, half teetering off the edge as she stared into the frigid water, veiled with the thinnest possible layer of ice over it's surface. Not yet cold enough to freeze the entire thing over, but certainly enough to cover the first few feet around the clear lake.
It was a cold day. The wind whipped around her unadorned fur as she stared down at the water. Even as she allowed herself to tip forward, breaking through with a soft crack as she plunged into the freezing depths, she knew how dangerous it was. The day was cold enough to allow freezing, and though the water was warmer than the air had been, it was certainly cooler than was safe for one to be in for any prolonged length of time. Especially with her thick fur that seemed to soak it all up.
The fox-furred feline blinked slowly up at the watery light above her, where the ice had shattered, leaving a semi-circular shape to show where the hole met unfrozen water. A few second later, and she could feel her lungs urging her up, to get air. She hadn't taken an adequate breath, though to say she'd even tried to was an overstatement. Nonetheless, she gave in to instinct and propelled herself up to take in a gasping breath before heading to shore. It was an idiotic move, to endanger the lives of her unborn kits in this way, and to be sure, Fox expected nothing less than to be scolded for it. But maybe that was what she was looking for. At least if Littlestar yelled at her, she could hold onto that.
Without much further thought, she headed on back towards camp, soaked to the bone and already starting to shiver.

LIONPRIDE
THE LOVEABLE - SUNCLAN WARRIOR
Lionpride had every reason to hate Foxbane. Not only had she tried to kill him...twice, but she had tried to rip aconite away from him and made his mother try to kill herself in order to save him. For the gentle tom it was a lot. He had been off for moons now, not the happy go lucky cat that he was known to be. It was only now that he had a reason to be joyful, that things had started to turn around. Aconite was carrying his children... For real this time.
His world revolved around her, which is what had drew him away from camp now in search of something to surprise her with. He was always bringing her little things and tokens, anything to bring a smile to her face. He had bent down to pick up a small flower, one of the last blooms before leaf-bare would be upon them. The sudden splash and crack of the ice made him jump back to his feet. Had one of the apprentices fallen in? He raced off towards the water full speed only to almost crash into the soaking wet Foxbane.
He skidded to a stop, his eyes wide at the sight. "Auntie Fox...bane" he stopped himself not sure weather to offer to help or to turn tail and run

She was surprised. Less by the fact of Lionpride's sudden appearance, and more by the fact he still dared to call her his aunt. Foxbane didn't deserve the title. Taking a paw, she brushed it down her face, droplets of water falling onto the snow between cold paws, simply staring at him a few moments. "Lionpride." The Senator returned awkwardly. There was too much to say, and nothing she could say, either. Prior to the Regime, the idea of hurting him would have been a mere consideration, but something she never would have done. And after, she'd tried once to kill him directly, and then almost killed his mother by ordering his death. Not really the sort of thing you could smooth out over a piece of prey.

THE LOVEABLE - SUNCLAN WARRIOR
The silence was awkward, as the two cats stared each other down. Neither one of them making a move. He felt a shiver make its way down his spine, making the fur rise along it. What was one to say to the cat who had tried to kill you twice? It was only when she wiped away the water droplets that he realized Foxbane must have been the one to fall into the waters, but why? It was a rookie mistake, even young apprentice knew better than to venture out onto the ice while the sun was out melting it's surface.
"You should go get warm" he murmered, letting his gaze fall down to his paws. "Are you ok?" he forced the words out

"I'm not dead yet." She answered with a slight shrug. "Take that as you will." Certainly, it implied that she'd meant to fall in. This idea was only furthered by the fact she made no effort to agree that she should warm herself, despite the fact that snow tossed up by the wind was beginning to stick to her pelt, and she couldn't help but shake against her will, no matter how much she tried to steady herself by digging claws into the ground. Still, she couldn't make herself leave. It may or may not have been partially due to the fact that her limbs were cold and stiff, but beyond that, she couldn't force herself to step around him and continue walking in the cold.

"Good, the sun god isn't finished with you yet" he stated flatly. He had had to believe that, it was the only reason that she would still be standing here after everything that she had done. He must still have some purpose in mind for her, something that she had yet to do. It may have been naive, but it was the belief that he clung to. A hope that everything hadn't been for nothing.
They were at a standstill, but he couldn't just stand here and wait for her to freeze out in the cold. He body was clearly starting to suffer, and the kits that were inside her didn't deserve that. He moved forward, and did something that even surprised him. He began to groom her fur backwards, to wick away the water from her skin and fluff up her coat against the cold.

"Don't I know it." She answered with a rueful smile. No, he had plans for her, she was sure, and most likely weren't pleasant. When he neared her, she tensed up, her expression shocked when he began to groom her, attempting to warm her freezing fur. It was most likely a futile effort, but even so. "W-what are you doing?" Her voice displayed all the surprise she felt, utterly confused as to why he'd even attempt to be kind to her.

"Trying to warm you" he replied simply, continuing his efforts despite her confusion. "Why I else would I groom your fur backwards?" honestly he didn't know why he was trying either, but perhaps if he could find it within himself to move on and forgive, so could she. Foxbane had done some terrible things, no one could say otherwise. He didn't understand what had driven her to murder, scheme, and loose her mind... but the cat that did all those things... that wasn't the Foxstar he had grown up with. That wasn't the Foxstar who had taken his mother under her wing. That wasn't the foxstar that brought him extra treats when Littlebird wasn't looking. That wasn't the auntie Foxstar that he loved.
No after the fire, something had changed in her. The Foxstar that did all those terrible things wouldn't have stepped down so unceremoniously and be content being a senator. No she was different now, even though he didn't understand it all. What if she just need someone to show her some kindness? What if she just needed one cat to believe in her? Even though she had tried to kill him, he had to believe that there was more going on there. That something had their grip on her mind.
