( A little background here. Immediately following the apocalypse, it was revealed that Bluejay was influencing Foxstar, hence all the murders that followed her return from the Regime. With her mind clear, she found much of her present tainted by the knowledge of this manipulation, and has felt an immense amount of guilt. This has also forced her to look back into her past, and with all this bombarding her at once, she sent herself into a self-imposed isolation for the past half-moon or so since the apocalyptic event. She carries out the prayers, and ceremonies, but is distant and has avoided everyone in the Clan. Though she does make an unexpected stop thanks to the Sun God's orders... Until today, when she gets up, and unexpectedly announces her resignation.
Please congratulate Racer on being SunClan's new Priestess! And may the Sun God help Littlestar. xD )
"Oh Sun, Great Protector of SunClan, as you fall below the horizon, you reveal to us the eternal war you fight against the Moon. Lead us this night, that we may help you to overcome your enemy, as you strengthen us against our enemies, and guide us in our daily lives." Foxstar's voice rose into the sky, her breath misting on this cold evening. The Priestess had been absent as of late, barely carrying out the simplest of her duties, and largely leaving the rest to Littlebird. Ever since the apocalypse, she'd been reclusive, acting cold and distant in a way entirely new to the cats of SunClan, and it was clear that despite expecting, she'd lost weight . She hadn't even tried to talk to Sunset or Strikhedoniadalisay, and had been quite successful in avoiding them up until now, actually. Rather than dismissing the clan to eat as she did every day, the Priestess simply sat down, her plush tail curling over her paws. This wasn't over yet. There was a sort of tension in the air as the silence dragged on, and a soft sigh left her lips.
"I am stepping down from SunClan High Priestess." The words left the heavily pregnant feline's lips to shocked silence. Of all the things Foxstar had ever done, this was the absolute last thing anyone would expect. The fox-hearted tyrant had proved time, and time, and time again that she was a forced to be reckoned with, and any resistance at all would be met with swift retribution. This had to be a joke, right? "From this point on, my name is Foxbane, and I will be retiring to the position of Senator. Littlebird, Littlestar, is your new High Priestess. Congratulations."
With that, the former Priestess, who'd led the clan through a fire, through hostile takeovers, through her own insanity, brought it to where it was today, and had threatened it's very members not too long ago, flicked her tail in dismissal of the meeting, turning to walk down the path and towards the camp entrance, expression unreadable. Littlestar hadn't been told of this, and by now, one might have expected the former WinterClan she-cat would never get the chance to lead. But now, the new Priestess was left standing up at the announcement place alone, with the clan under her command.
Skipstep was startled by this revelation of his mate’s promotion, but he immediately lifted his head. “Littlestar! Littlestar! Littlestar!” He chanted his sister Jetclaw joining him. The two moving closer to the rock, with Skipstep looking up at his mate. After all they’d been through, Littlebird was taking her rightfully earned place. And he was thrilled for her.
////——////
Sunset watched this play out surprised. Foxstar-Foxbane was the last cat she’d have imagined would relinquish her power. But after the apocalypse that killed many, Sunset had noted Foxbane was absent.
Concerned, Sunset moved to follow Foxbane. It’d been a while and they probably needed to talk anyway.

LITTLESTAR
SUNCLAN HIGH PRIESTESS
Of all the things that had begun to race through her mind as silence settled over the camp after the prayer, this hadn't even come up as a possibility. Her heart begun to thump in her chest as Foxstar, Foxbane, walked away without even a glance in her direction. Why now? After all this time, and everything that Foxstar and the Sun God had put her through to get Foxstar back... why now? It wasn't that she was necessarily worried about ruling, she had been the practical leader of the clan in all but name since Foxstar had been captured all those many moons ago. Littlebird had fought a war for Foxstar... Littlebird had argued with Sun God for Foxstar... Littlebird had even tried to kill herself at one point to stop Foxstar from making a terrible mistake. All of that, and for what? For the former High Priestess just to step down without so much as a word of warning.
She managed to maintain her composure, as her mate started calling her by her new name and the rest of the clan joined in. This should have been a happy moment for, but all of the hurt and confusion of this revelation threatened to overshadow the reality that the clan was now hers. Littlebird was born and raised to be a leader, but is this really how she wanted to achieve that goal? She took in a deep breathe and began to speak as the chorus quietened "Cats of SunClan, I am honored to serve as your High Priestess. I will lead this clan to the best of my ability, from this day until my last. May the Sun God watch over us all, and bless SunClan with prosperity in the moons to come"
Bloodypaw looked from the retreating former High Priestess to the current with a bewildered expression. He could not say he was unhappy with Littlebird assuming the role, but Foxtar... she had power, authority... and just gave all that up? For what? It did not make any sense. The ginger tom glanced up at the sun, his pale green eyes searching for an answer. The sky was clear of any clouds. He looked back at the new leader. He knew Littlebird, of course, but they had never really spoken much. The same could be said of Foxstar, though. Bloodypaw had always supported any decision made by the Sun god, but who made this decision, really? After a few moments, he shrugged his concern aside and joined the chorus of cheers for his new leader. It was not up to him, not yet anyway.
After the raging fires that Pandora had brought upon the land, he was done. The flames had nearly scorched him and he could still feel their heat against his face even from a distance, and his heart had not pounded so loudly in years, not even when the meteorite struck their camp. He had barely escaped the border where they were held, and ever since he had been wandering alone, stalking the borders of the clans and hunting only for himself, until he had made up his mind.
He was done. His job had long since become unnecessary and so he was leaving.
He must have grown sentimental in his old age because Singedwolf turned his paws back toward the camp to say one last goodbye to the kit he had saved. Littlebird wasn't so little anymore, and she was involved in all this too deeply to take her with, but he almost wished he could steal her away. He slipped in and crept up to the gathered cats as Foxstar concluded her message, only.... Foxbane? The burned initiate shook his head in wonder. The crazy little bird had ended up leader after all.

SUNCLAN HIGH PRIESTESS
Movement at the back of the crowd caught her attention, just soon enough for her to catch Singedwolf's eyes. Staring into them made her feel safe, a feeling that would be hard to come about in the times to come. She dismissed the crowd with a flick of her tail, a little smile sneaking its way onto her lips. She had hoped that he had returned to congratulate her, but she had a feeling that she would be getting a lecture about how this new found power would only be putting herself in danger.
After nuzzling her mate, she made her way over to where the old tom stood "You shouldn't have worried me so" she scolded lightly,

Darkcomplex couldn't help but smile, chanting alongside everyone else at Littlestar's unexpected promotion. Though he couldn't help but feel a prickle of doubt seeding it's way into his heart, judging Foxbane's motives. He'd known her much too long to believe there was any good intention behind it, regardless of his daughter's influence in previous actions.
Foxbane continued on walking for a long while before she opened her mouth. "Why are you following me, Burningstar?" She never called initiates by the names they knew before, but for whatever reason, she'd chosen to do so this time. Her voice was weary, speaking of a cat who simply wanted to be left alone.
"I wanted to make sure you were all right," Burningstar said softly. "IT's been a rough past few days... check that moons. And I've been wanting to talk with you, but well it's been difficult to get a moment. I know I'm not Glowstar, and I don't have as tight of a connection. But I wanted to let you know, I'm here for you. I might not agree with what you've done, or condone it. But I don't hate you Foxs-bane. So if you want to talk to someone, I'd be happy to listen. Whenever you want to."
He snorted, regarding the new leader with a guarded dark gaze. He didn't trust Foxbane for a moment and it made him suspicious that she'd suddenly hand power over to Littlebird. More than suspicious - she must have some trickery planned, and he misliked thinking his naive little bird was in on it. But she wasn't so little anymore, was she? At some point he had to admit she didn't need him anymore, hadn't needed him for a long time, and he'd just been too reluctant to go. But she was leader, she could absolve him of any duty an initiate had to their clan, and she had plenty of lives to waste.
"Long live the priestess," he muttered, his voice haggard and rougher than usual from lack of use. "To think, you haven't listened to a single thing I've said your entire life." Hadn't he warned her to keep her head down? To avoid Leatherstar, to avoid Foxstar, to let herself be forgotten? Hadn't he told her this wouldn't end well?

SUNCLAN HIGH PRIESTESS
"and yet you have stood beside me every step of the way" the old cat used to frighten her, but not for a long time. She had been able to see past his burned face and rough exterior, and peer into what lied underneath. For all of his rough mannerisms and violent tendencies, he had good soul. He had cared for her when all those she knew had died. It was him who had brought here to SunClan in the first place. It was him who had protected her from her own heart's follies, and always been on her side. She pressed her nose to his burned cheek "Thank you"
