It hadn't been long since Coriander-tyke and her littermates were put into the care of the grumpy old tom who lived as a raiser in post kilo, despite his scowling face and unwillingness to confess he cared the small calico she-cat had instantly taken to him, determined she would always be there for him whether he wanted it or not. "Arthur?" green eyes searched around as she called out to him, she had only meant to close her eyes for a moment but alas sleep overtook her.
"Arthur, where did you go?" Her voice was soft as it echoed through post kilo, bouncing through the air as if in search itself for the old tom. Coriander-tyke was a soft natured and motherly she-cat even sat such a young age, she was a caretaker at heart and that extended to everyone, especially her new grandfather.

"That would be Raiser Arthur, to you," grumbled the old man as he padded up. He looked tired, but almost always did. He used to blame it on his job; he just wasn't as young as he used to be. Since the scrappy tykes had decided he was to be their personal watchover, his blame had changed to them. There was a part of him that enjoyed the fact that the kittens had taken to him, but the tom would never admit that. Instead, he would continue through his days, acting like they were little more than annoyances that had yet to been dealt with.
He shifted under his sweater, a marker of his old life, before squinting. Even after all of these moons in the Regime, he wasn't used to how dark it was. "Is something wrong?" he asked her, instinctively checking to make sure that she was alright. "Or did you just run out of other cats to bother? I'm sure I could find you a nice list if you needed one."
"Oh, sorry, Raiser Arthur." She felt her face flush with the heat of embarrassment at her mistake, but shook it off and smiled as she trotted to the old cats side. "I'm okay, I just wanted to spend time with you." There was a purr rumbling in her chest as she rubbed her head against his leg, how could she make sure he was okay and happy if she wasn't by his side, it's all she wanted... to see the cat she looked up to smile.

"There is absolutely no reason why that would be a desirable thing for you to do," he remarked with a sigh, narrowing his eyes. How had he managed to get stuck with this? Oh, right, as a whole, the universe hated him and thought this was funny, or something like that. If history taught him anything, though, it was that the kitten wasn't going to give up and bug off so easily. He could only be so lucky. The sphyx let out another sigh. "I've got things to do, so I guess if you're going to be hanging around, you might as well be useful. Take these," he motioned to the borage at his feet.
Her head tilted at his remark and she began to wonder why it would be a desirable thing for her to spend time with him, it seemed like it was to her. His next words lit up her already bright green eyes and she looked up at him with a joyful smile. "I can really help?" She picked up the borage before he could answer, being sure to hold them gently between her teeth so they wouldnt be ruined.

This was probably a mistake; he was more than definitely making a mistake. Yet, he couldn't bring himself to change his mind and tell the tyke to go play with her littermates. He was now even more stuck with her than he had been several moments ago. His whiskers twitched slightly. Oh well, mistakes had already been made. "Be very careful," he instructed with a nod. "If you damage the herbs, Chaman Meepo will be incredibly disappointed." This was definitely not a kit's job, and Arthur was unsure he'd even trust a seasoned cadet with carrying herbs. He'd prefer to do it himself. Yet, there was something about here that looked so eager...
Her ears were perked as she listened carefully to his instruction, nodding in understanding. "Do you help Chaman Meepo a lot?" She asked in a muffled voice as she spoke around the herbs held delicately in her jaws, their scent was strong being so close to her nose and while it was making it difficult to keep her grip loose she forced her jaw to remain relaxed. She didn't want to disappoint the tom, he was after all trusting her with an important task.
