Praline found travelling at night a little difficult. Especially when she wasn't horribly used to navigating the cliff face even during the day. Her new sleep schedule lead to her yawning constantly, tears leaking from her eyes and coating her calico face. Most of Nightclan had passed by her, and just when she thought she was getting used to it, the earth slipped underneath her. Tumbling down in a veil of darkness, she could only pull her head towards her stomach, praying nothing would snap. Finally landing and slowing, she let go of the breath she didn't realize she was holding. Nothing was broken, but now she was completely lost and potentially stuck. "Hello! Can anyone hear me?"
Umbrahound was hunting nearby when he heard a crumbling sound and then, shortly after, a cry for help. Umbrahound was a good hearted tom...in his own way, but when it came to making friends, well, Goldenhind was his only friend. He had made Nightclan his home even though he wasn't purely Nightclan blood. He was brought in as a kit after the great earth shake killed his mother. Squirrelleap had taken him and his siblings in as one of his own and even though his siblings were all he had left of his family, they had grown apart as they aged. Making friends wasn't easy for him and he preferred to stick to his duties. Leafbare was almost upon them and the need for prey was getting more and more demanding.
He was just about to catch himself a tastey mouse when the sound of the earth giving away and a cry for help startled it into hiding. Cursing for his lost meal, he went in search for whatever had disturbed his hunting. That was when he came to the cliff and noticed Parline a little ways down, stuck. He hadn't officially met her yet and what a way for the two of them to meet. He had seen her join them but had never introduced himself for the mere fact that he just didn't care. He let out a frustrated sigh at seeing the distressed feline. Great. Now he will have to do rescue work which wasn't exactly on his agenda for tonight. "Are you alright?" The seemed like the right thing to ask, right? Even though, clearly, she was stuck on the side of a cliff. He supposed he truly meant to ask if she was hurt.

Her panic quickly died down into amusement. Wow. A rude savior. Just her luck. She couldn't recognize who it was, just the light smell of Nightclan telling her this wasn't an enemy. Even the trees hid his silhouette, only the light of their eyes visible. Ignoring the fact that she was stuck in a hole and covered in dirt, she was 'okay'.
"Uhhh yeah." Her voice was hoarse from the adrenaline but it was still laced with humor. It was fairly ridiculous. Just got to Nightclan and already causing trouble.
"Okay, hold on" he responded and turned to find something to help pull her up. With luck, he found a vine that seemed long enough abd sterdy enough to pull her up. "Grab this" he mumbled through a mouthful of vibe as he lowered it to her reach.

Dirty paws touched the walls around her slowly, barely able to make out the vine falling and having to feel for it. It felt like an eternity before she stumbled along the vine. Grabbing it by her teeth, she gave it a quick pull to see if it would just fall. It didn't, so she held on more, clumsily trying to wrap her front limbs around it and kept her back legs free so she could help push herself up.
Umbrahound felt the tug of the vine and knew she had a hold of it. He pulled with all his might, slowly reeling her up. What felt like forever, he finally had her at the edge of the pit and rushed to grab her scruff to pull her the rest of the way up. The tall, muscular tom stepped back to give her space and to examine her to make sure there weren't any serious wounds she couldn't feel. Once he knew she was alright, he helped dust her off with his tail. "How'd you end up down there, anyway?" he asked as he dusted her off, a look of annoyance in his honey golden eyes.

Digging her back paws into the steep side of the hill, she helped as best she could. Though she was sure she was helping more than harming. No other voices echoed down, it was somewhat surprising that no one else had found them yet. It felt like forever before she could see the grass outside the hole. Teeth dug into her scruff, and she scrambled to pull herself out of the hole. The grass felt so nice suddenly, as she took a moment to catch her breath. Letting out a huff as the questioned was asked, she rolled her yellow-green eyes and started to dust herself off as well. "The ground gave way underneath me. This place probably isn't used to all the activity."

"No, but you guys really walked in on my territory." Really, Praline had been found here when Nightclan moved in. She was fairly familiar with it, sure now that ground was shaky before. But whether that was the actual truth or the tremors in her feet talking, she wasn't sure. Shaking out her tail before brushing the last few specks of dust out, she stood on those shaky feet, "I'm not used to walking through it at night, that's all."

"Cause who wants to join a clan called Nightclan and then not see them at all? Your whole thing is the family unit, right? It'd be weird if a member of your family lived with you but you never saw them." Really, he had a point. But Praline looked to impress too much, which led to this whole mess. All messes really. She spat some dust out of her mouth.

Praline couldn't help but feel a little suspicious. But it'd be rude to voice such things to the one who pulled you out of a literal ditch. The whole thing was about learning to trust the members of Nightclan, she shouldn't let the fleeting feeling capture her attention. She stood and followed him when ready, lifting her paws over everything overly high. Like she was a soldier or an overly ambitious hiker.
He chuckled at the way she was walking and halted. "First off, you should use the dim light to see objects in front of you. See how the moon and stars leave a little bit of a shine on the trees and logs? It makes it easier to locate where some objects are when your walking at night. Also, you can usually tell when your getting close to a hole in the ground with your paws. Usually, the ground becomes softer and gives more when you walk. That may be because there are tunnels and if it rains, the ground gets soft and eventually caves in or an animal digs it up. Either way, if it's a big enough hole, you can feel the difference in the ground. Plus, your whiskers can help, too. If you get close to a cliff, the air will change and you can feel it with your whiskers. There is a lot of ways to see without your eyes."
He looked around and saw a large leaf and rushed over to it. He gripped the leaf stem between his teeth and yanked it free. Then, he padded over to Paline and tied the leaf around her eyes. "There. Now, we can work on those senses of yours. Get them strong. I'm going to stand a little ways away from you and your going to follow my voice until you reach me. Okay?"

She listened as he talked. She was most familiar with using her sight to get through the night or sleep through it bizarrely. Pretty un-cat like. She never had much chance to figure out how to do it. "Oh god help me." Praline muttered as the leaf was wrapped around her eyes, only staying in place out of the vague obligation to listen to Umbrahound after he got her out of that pit. Fear grabbed at her heart as everything dimmed. She could swear she could see the blinking red lights of the past and that made her throat feel like dirt was filling it. Only the gentle smell of the forest kept her steady. "O-Okay."
"You can do it!" He encouraged, taking his place. "Come to me! I'm over here!" He called so that she could follow his voice. "Follow my voice and feel the forest around you. Feel the breeze, the earth beneath your paws. Enlighten your other senses!"

"Gee, there's no reason to be so romantic." Praline said more to herself than addressing him. Her whiskers twitched, some too preoccupied with the leaf on her head to let her completely focus on the task at hand. At first, her steps were high and uneven, trying to make sure she didn't trip. Slowly, she got more comfortable with it. Opening her mouth, she caught his scent on the light breeze and turned to face it. Heading towards it, she got ahead of herself a bit and bumped her shoulder against a tree. Hissing quietly, she stepped to the side.
Either he hadn't heard her comment or he rather ignored it, he tried to hold back a small laugh as she bumped the tree. "Well, I think you felt the forest" he joked about her bumping the tree.

"I think you'll feel my claws in your mouth in a sec, bub." Praline muttered, ears craning towards Umbrahound and making her way towards him. It was weird to walk in complete darkness, she expected the ground to be ice cold and hard. But the earth gave way, the smell reminding her she was outside. Free. The ends of her whiskers brushed up against the foliage, and she managed to navigate around a few of the bushes and even managed to step over a branch.
