( Eternal & Tempest )
He'd never met his cousin. It was funny, really. Son of Yellowmoon, who was now dead, due in part to his own paw, half-brother to Jaysolstice, Rhapsodyrose, who lived in WaterClan with his niblings Aureolekit, Skylerkit, Taliakit, Zephyrinekit, and Minkkit. But he'd been abused and isolated as a kit, able to live only thanks to the kindness of his aunt, Eclipseknight, and during his very first training session, he'd fled to DayClan. What was also amusing was that Glowstar was the great grandmother to the aforementioned niblings. For the higher ranks of the bright clan, they had quite the connection to the place.
Of course, that's the short of it. The longer version isn't nearly so pretty, and Eternallaughter knew that full well. His family, all those who had the misfortune to be descended from Yellowmoon, really, had lives full of pain and suffering and death. Truthfully, the Immortal Council member still hadn't forgiven himself for Threepaw's death, and the image of his brother's body would never leave his nightmares.
The tom shook his head. Snap out of it. You're an Immortal Council member, you have two lives, and could very well succeed Glowstar one day. You should be able to compose yourself by now. He told himself. Besides, what's Tempestignite going to think, if you're blubbering before she even gets here? That would just be a wonderful scene, wouldn't it? A heavy sigh escaped the tom's lips as he forced his shoulders to relax, gaze wandering to the autumn trees, nearly leafless now, then to the clearing they'd chosen to meet. It was near to DayClan, admittedly, and the tom briefly considered taking her onto the territory. Glowstar wouldn't mind, though he knew he probably shouldn't do it, regardless.
More than anything, he wondered how she'd react to his appearance. Certainly, she'd have been warned of what Yellowmoon did to him. On the lesser end of things, the otherwise handsome red tabby, with his burning amber eyes, had ears that were full of perfectly made holes. A twoleg would have compared his ears to swiss cheese.
From one of the lower holes on either side, hung a feather. In DayClan, these worn feathers symbolized things that the particular cat who wore them valued most, and cats could each have two. The first, on his right ear, was gray, of mid length and sort of scruffy looking, with a straight top. It symbolized Protection. He'd failed to protect his brother, but he vowed that he would never fail his clan in the same way. The second, on his right ear, was much more ornate, it had a flared, wild base of beige that turned golden at the edges, the top large, like a triangle but with a curve for the top of the feather, and a little section missing. The top portion was lined with teal at the edges, then there was a line of curved black, then vivid blue with beige spots. This beautiful feather symbolized Justice. Actions had consequences, and Eternallaughter, more than anything, was a cat who sought that others faced the consequences, just as Yellowmoon had, eventually.
It was his maw that was the worrying part, however. After all, his mother had carved a permanent smile on his face, a gruesome thing that made even the most innocent of expressions seem terrifying and disingenuous. Cats usually got used to it, but it tended to shock cats, the first time. He could see it, even if they tried to hide it.
I thought I told you to get it together? He mused once more, She won't care. Probably.
Tempestignite had been surprised when she'd been told one of her cousins wanted to meet her. While they'd been close in geographic for a minute, it had been a long time since she'd been near a Forest Clan, having chosen to not go to any recent Gatherings (due to her awkwardness as a former leader) and didn't know how she felt about being so close to where she'd been born. She had heard stories of what her aunt, Yellowmoon, had done to one of her children, but didn't really believe them. It had been a long day when she'd heard the stories of the former WaterClan Warrior, and former WinterClan Medicine Cat. She had to take a double take at her cousin when she saw him. Oh, StarClan, how could a mother do that to her kit? She felt a wave of pity for the tom. She was sure he was still self-conscious of the scars, and didn't want to make this first-time meeting of family awkward.
What was one supposed to say when they first met a family member? Up until a few days ago, she hadn't really talked with Eclipseknight, and she'd never gotten the chance to meet Violetsky or Yellowmoon, and she didn't know what to talk about with her cousins in WaterClan and she saw them everyday. She shivered with the sudden wind.
"Hello, Eternallaughter." She mewed awkwardly, as way of greeting.

He could see her disbelief and her surprise. Of course, how could he really blame her? If he hadn't lived it, he wouldn't either. It was a crazy story, one that would likely get told by elders for seasons to come, the details distorted and becoming more unbelievable as the season wore on. A tale used to warn kits who were being unruly. Of course, he wouldn't tell it, but he couldn't really stop others from doing so.
Most days, he forgot the scars were there. Well, forget wasn't quite the right word. He could see it in the rippling waters, could feel the wind whistling through his ears and the tug of scarred flesh when he gave any sort of expression. It was just so mundane, and cats were used to it, so he didn't feel as out of place. Tempestignite was kind enough to remind him he was anything but normal. Of course, he didn't blame her for that. It wasn't like it was her fault.
Her awkwardness caught him a tad off guard though. Usually, cats reacted with fear or horror, or questioned what had happened, but he supposed she'd already know about all that. As such, the tom couldn't help but smile, a light chuckle leaving him. Though the expression read that he was a killer, the amusement and twinkle in the eye of the younger tom lightened the mood considerably. "Hello, Tempestignite. Are you well? I hope you're not too tired from the trek."
Now that he mentioned in, she did feel slightly tired from her journey and her legs ached a little, but it wasn't anything she couldn't handle. The thought of the journey back to her home, however, made her legs ache even more. Tbe breeze made her fur fluff up. She tried giving it a shake to make it flatten again. No need to get cold from the wind. she scolded herself.
She shrugged at her cousin's words. "I'm fine." though her tone suggested anything but. She was still a little spooked by the fact that SunClan's leader had stopped by to say hello the other day. "And you?" she asked politely. She still didn't know him, other than the fact that his appearances didn't seem to bother him anymore. Or, At least, not as much as they probably had.
