Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
"I wanna boy with claws that shine like justice ♪♩♬ I wanna boy whose mind is as bright as the sun ♬♫ I wanna a boy with tall legs and a looooong tail ♪♩♫" Glowstar sang out her tune as she trotted in the apple orchard, "Na na na na na na naaaa naaa naaa ♪"
She whipped her head back shooing away a stray tuft of fur from her pretty line of vision. She hadn't been apple picking in a while and gosh darnit. She was the leader of DayClan, but also a forced graduated member of SunClan and she had to provide for them too. How long had SunClan survived without her bringing them apples? Those things were hard to hunt. It wasn't like they were everywhere, definitely not crowding around her paws making her dance around them just to get by. Nope, plus it wasn't like this was a lie, it was hard work to pick apples cause there's such a selection to choose from. Her gaze examined the apples picking through the ones on the ground. It was her tactic, find an apple on the ground she liked and then work at climbing a tree to get it. Most DayClan cats didn't know how to climb trees, there weren't enough to really get good at climbing in DayClan except for these sad excuses for trees in the apple orchard. But since she had grown up in Primal Instinct she had a knack for scaling trees.
(Mind if I jump in? Dont know if your wanting this to be a romance thread or not!)
"Help!" Came a small voice from high in the apple trees. Between the branches, golden fur could be seen. A small figure, much like a kitten. In fact, it was a kitten! A kit was stuck high up in one of the apple trees. Not just any kitten, however. It was Buttercupkit, clinging onto the branch tightly. A breeze whipped through the orchard and rattled the branches. Buttercupkit gripped her branch with her tiny claws as tight as she could, her eyes widened with fear as she struggled to keep her balance on the moving branch. "Please! Someone help me!" She called again, her voice panicky.
"Now should I pick granny smith or honey gold," Glowstar wondered rubbing a single paw over her chin.
"Help!"
"Pft, no I need help. I'm in a crisis over here, which tastes worse..."
"Please! Someone help me!"
Jeez someone was- Her ears perked, was that? Her emerald eyes turned to Buttercupkit hanging from a tree branch. Her eyes almost popped out of her socket and if the scream hadn't gotten stuck in her throat it would have been blood curdling. Sure, she was lenient and let DayClan kits do whatever they wanted like they were already apprentices, but she was a mama bear just as much as anyone else. Glowstar raced over faster than she had in two moons. She hadn't even run this quick when someone told her there was a weird cult meeting at the gathering place.
Glowstar pressed her paws up against the tree, "Buttercupkit?" She called out uneasily to her, "Darling, why don't you just fall onto my cushiony fur, I got you," She cooed. She had considered racing up the tree, but she rather have Buttercupkit take an uncomfortable fall onto her back than risk a brutal fall to the ground if she didn't race up the tree in time.
Buttercupkit squeezed her eyes shut and shook her head, "no! I can't! I cant do it! What if you dont catch me? What if I hit another branch?" Her voice was still frantic but was relieved that someone was there to help her. However, even though she felt relieved that someone was there, she suddenly felt dread. Would Glowstar be angry with her when she got down? Windchaser was going to be so angry with her.
"Buttercup, we have two options. One, I climb up there and get you, but if you fall before I can get you we're lying to your mom and getting you healed in another clan and pretending that you were chosen for some great prophecy that StarClan chose you for and she will never EVER know about this. Or two, I'm going to throw apples up at that tree branch or wait until you let go of it yourself so you can fall onto me. Possibly traumatizing you for life, by heights, but by far the safest option. So which are we going to do?" Glowstar asked.
Buttercupkit widened her eyes in horror. Would Glowstar really throw apples at her? She knew the leader was notorious for doing out of the ordinary things and didnt want to test that theory. The golden kit gulped nervously before releasing her grip on the branch. She felt the blood rush to her head as she began to fall. The wind roared in her ears and she felt heavy as gravity pulled her toward her death. "Catch meeee!" She cried as she fell down. In Instinct, she stretched her arms and legs out in hopes to slow her fall but all she could feel was the wind tugging at her and her heart pounding.
Glowstar let out a sigh of relief, thank StarClan, she was going to fall. Glowstar watched for a moment rocking her hips back and forth in anticipation for when Buttercupkit would let go and rocket forwards swooping right into Buttercupkit mid fall and spread her momentum to only be a foot off the ground. Buttercupkit at first was against Glowstar's chest, but upon landing fell onto her back on the ground, but was also no more hurt than if she was standing and accidentally fell over.
Buttercupkit laid on her back in the grass, panting, her turquoise eyes widened in fear and her chest pounding. "I-I think so...unless I'm in Starclan" the kit responded, still unsure whether this really just happened or not and whether she was alive or dead.
Glowstar nudged Buttercupkit playfully, "Heh, I can see the wild fire in your eyes, you just met death and he's seen your pretty face. Don't worry though, I flirt with death full time and at this point, I'm kind of his stalker, he stays far from me. It's how I got one life and my hearts still beating."
Her tail moved behind Buttercupkit comfortingly, "You can get up," She said teasingly.
She took one last deep breath before rolling over and rising to her paws. "What do you mean I saw death? I didn't see anyone!" She didn't quite understand what Glowstar meant. She thought death was an actual cat or something. Glowstar did say she flirted with death. Was death a spirit cat? She looked around, trying to catch a glimpse of him. Did Glowstar see him when she was falling? Why did he let her live if he was here?
"Death is all around us," Glowstar said with a magical wave of her paw before scooping Buttercupkit towards her side with her other paw, "Look around you. You could die at any moment. A rotten tree branch could fall onto you, flesh eating virus from the water, rabies contracted by prey, one loose apple seed slipping into your meal, sickness. We have no control of this world around us and it's beautiful. The day just simulates the same chain of events over and over again. It's day, then night. It's greenleaf than leafbare. The waters rise and fall. The stories always the same, but there's these beautiful factors like time and emotion that add flavor to this bland world and you just got a sip of it for the first time, how amazing. First times always scary, so is the twentieth, but after it's absolutely freeing," She marveled, her eyes looking dizzy in thought for a moment before glimmering back to it usual emerald glow.
Buttercupkit shook her head, her eyes wide with fear "that doesnt sound amazing! It sounds horrifying!" She paused for a moment. "Wait. You've died before. What does it feel like? Does it hurt?"
"Yeah, so there I was, underground in SunClan's territory trying to escape when Foxstar appears. And I was like, "Yo, I think I'm gonna head back home." And she's like, "Not with your life!" And so I had this deadly herb in my claws and she had one too and mine was paralytic, it would paralyze her for life if it didn't kill her first. She injected me with her poison and I had mine right at her throat and I could have killed Foxstar right there, but I didn't have it in me so I only gave her a little. It's hazy, but I remember lying next to Foxstar, us both dying. I remember my brother and Deal standing above me and their voices sounding so far away. And it's so weird, I remember the pain turning cold and I remember them saying how I was dead, but I wasn't. I wasn't dead and I listened to them for what felt like forever before passing on. And I appeared in the Isles with Foxstar and-" Glowstar smiled, "We just started fighting all over again, it became a yelling match. I remember the Sun God splitting us apart and telling Foxstar she can go back to her body. The heaven was beautiful, I remember looking around and thinking how I could have a life there, but I also just really didn't feel ready and that's when Deal gave me one of his lives and I was back. I'm living off of borrowed time, this isn't my life, it's his."
Glowstar looked sad and it was probably because the tom hadn't been returning to DayClan lately. She had broken up with him, fate separated them as often as ocean waves touched the shore.
Buttercupkit held in a little chuckle at the mention of the two leaders fighting even after death and the Sun God had to split them up. Despite that part, it was kind of a scary story. She couldn't imagine laying there dying and listening to her loved ones fade away. She then picked up on Glowstar's sadness and flattened her ears. "Deal is a hero, then. If he didn't save you, you wouldn't have saved me! I should thank him! He saved me and you!" She didn't know who Deal was but she had heard his name from the cats back at camp. She knew he used to be Glowstar's mate but that was as far as she knew about him. "Where is he? Did he die since he gave you his life?"
"I don't know, he has werifesteria, it's a scary sounding word, but it means to wander longingly through forests. And that's what he enjoys, he's a wanderer, a tourist. Enjoying the sights and being involved in adventures with a devotion to be in others lives and help. That's the good thing about him, but sometimes being a tourist gives you a bad name and that's what happens to him. I know we'll meet again some starless night when the world is upside down," Glowstar smiled, "Although. It seems the only times we're ever together is when something horrific is about to happen so I suppose it would be bad if I ever crossed his path again. We're bad luck to the universe I suppose," She said, a giggle escaping past her jaws as she covered it with a paw.
"You can have a badger right if you would like," Glowstar said lowering herself to Buttercupkit's level.
