Goldenhind shook out his short, but thick, fur as he emerged from the bushes. A rabbit had gone stray off the path and sent him flying into the brush. On the bright side, he held the stubborn creature firmly in his jaws and a proud gleam in his pale blues. He half-skipped, half-limped towards the camp, looking like a porcupine with all the twigs still hanging onto him. Silently he wondered if his friends were having his kind of luck with their hunts.
A squirrel crossed Goldenhind's path in a rush, its eyes wide with terror. Moments later, a flash of black fur hurtled after it. The squirrel launched itself into the tree and the black figure followed, climbing almost as quickly as the squirrel. The prey scurried out on a branch above Goldenhind and now that they were in plain sight, Goldenhind could recognize the black figure as Umbrahound. The black tom followed the squirrel, his weight causing the branch to bow. The squirrel leaped to the next tree and Umbrahound made the leap behind it. The squirrel made it to the next tree and escaped while Umbrahound landed on the second branch and it snapped under his weight and sent the black tom falling. He stretched his legs out to slow his fall and landed in a bush beside Goldenhind and disappeared into it. After a moment of rustling, Umbrahound emerged with leaves and sticks clinging to his fur. He spit out a mouthful of leaves before speaking, "never chase a squirrel up a tree."

Goldenhind placed a paw over his maw and attempted to hold back his laughter. It didn't take long before he utterly failed and busted out in a series of snorts. "Dude, you okay? That was some kind of fall." He meowed through the fits, sniffing his friend over to make sure there were no broken bones or bad gashes. After a moment, he glanced over his shoulder at his messy, twig-filled fur then back at Umbrahound's messy coat. "Well, don't we look like a pair of porcupines that just got into a fight."
Umbrahound cuffed his friend over the ear gently with his paw and let out a snort of laughter. "Yeah we do. After all this training, I still make a lousey hunter at times. What happened to you?"

Goldenhind shook his head. He knew well that Umbrahound was more talented than he let off. "Ehhh, kind of similar to you." He responded with a little chuckle. "I was chasing a rabbit and one thing led to another and I ended up in a bunch of bushes. Maybe we ought to go back to training?" He ended his sentence with a purr of amusement at the thought.

"This is true." Goldenhind responded with a nod and a playful grin. "Come on, let's head back to camp and see if we can spread our luck around." He began to lead the way to the camp, rabbit in jaws. "I wonder how everyone is fairing today." He meowed behind a mouthful of fur.
Disappointed that he hadn't caught anything, he followed Goldenhind to camp. "I'm not sure." He shrugged. "How have you been recently? We haven't really talked since we graduated!"

Goldenhind placed the rabbit on the pile and gave his friend an understanding glance. It always felt crummy when one had an unlucky hunt. "You'll get it next time, I know it." He reassured then continued, "Well... I guess I've been good. To be honest, I'm not sure what to do now that I'm a warrior." He finished his answer with a chuckle. "What about you? How has life been as a new warrior?"
"I feel the same way" he chuckled. "It seems all that I do now is hunt and patrol! I sometimes wish there was more to being a warrior than this." He paused for a moment before continuing. "So, uh, have you found yourself a mate, yet?" He gave Goldenhind a smirk and a friendly nudge.
