A chilly wind ruffled Pantherclaw's black fur as she looked out across the field below the training area. Leafbare was coming again just like it always will. Seasons come and seasons go and yet so many other things in life change. Three clans lost their homes forever but many of the cats were making new homes in the remaining clans, many had come here to SummerClan. Her mind was so preoccupied with thoughts like these that she almost missed the rustling sound which came from behind her. Startled, the black she cat spun around to face whoever or whatever was approaching her.

Sunfrog was doing her best to help with the extra cats in camp but she was always grateful for the chance to slip away for just a minute. Today what had caused her flight was camp was the issue of expanding the nursery, there had been too many opinions and paws in the way and eventually Sunfrog had simply slipped away. The plight of the refugees was awful and Sunfrog sympathized, but she was also missing the space they'd had before. A moment alone felt like just what she needed, so she was upset when she brushed along some bushes and spotted Pantherclaw has she spun around. Company, great. Trying not to sound too unhappy, she waved her tail in a friendly gesture, "it's just me," she assured the other warrior, despite not knowing each other all that well. "Did you have to get away from the crowd too?"

Relieved she saw a clanmate and not a fox, Pantherclaw relaxed and smiled. "You can say that," she meowed. "So many cats these days, not that I'm complaining mind you. But sometimes you have to get away from all the hustle and bustle. I was just thinking about going to the waterfalls. It's nice and secluded there." It was one of her favorite places to go and get away and think. "Were you headed there too? We can walk together if you are."

She hadn't been, but the waterfalls was just as good a place as any. Besides, most of the refugees wouldn't know about it yet. "Sounds great, I'd love your company." Sunfrog wasn't against the new cats, but it was harder to be around them. They weren't clanmates to her yet. But cats like Pantherclaw had been her clanmate for moons and she found herself missing the dynamic the clan used to have.

"Great!" Pantherclaw replied. A gust of wind puffed up her black fur and she had to force it to lay flat again. "I'm afraid this wind is ushering in Leafbare. We won't have too many nice days left." She went through one Leafbare but she was an apprentice then. This would be her second. "So," she said as she began to walk in the direction of the falls. "How do you feel about all the new cats joining us?" To tell the truth, she had mixed feelings on the subject.

[[ I'm sorry this took so long ;-; ]]
They were closing in on her second leafbare and Sunfrog was not eager for it. She agreed with Pantherclaw and was unhappy with the knowledge that each moment of warm sun was potential the last for moons. Leafbare sun was weak and didn't hold adequate warmth. Frankly, it was miserable. This was not the climate SummerClan cats thrived in.
Sunfrog frowned at her companion's question, wondering momentarily how honest to be, "I think we did a decent, warrior-like thing by taking the refugees in, and I don't think we will regret it. But the adjustment is... frustrating and sort of stressful. Not that... not that I want to seem rude about it." Sunfrog very much hoped she didn't sound like an elitist snob about the changes, she'd always be supportive when it involved helping other cat, no matter their clan.

[No problem ^^]
"I know what you mean and I don't think you're rude," Pantherclaw replied. "It was a good thing to take in the homeless cats. I'd want someone to do the same for me if I ever found myself in that situation." She quickened her pace to the waterfalls wanting to get there faster. "But on the other paw it's a ... I don't want to use the word hard ... it's a ... trying time for the rest of us." She was pleased with the word she chose. "Change is always difficult but not impossible." Those were the words her mother, Gentlebreeze, had spoken to her when they had discussed this same topic.

Feeling reassured by her clanmate, Sunfrog suddenly felt lighter. "You're right, and I'm sure soon enough everyone will be settled. Maybe in a moon this will all feel completely normal for us," she hoped so anyway. Sunfrog wasn't accustomed to change and didn't particularly like it, but she was very hopeful that this would lead to a stronger SummerClan. "I wonder if this makes us the biggest clan, we have so many new cats! Maybe we outnumber everyone now."

Pantherclaw brightened at the thought. "I bet you're right," she said. "We just might be the biggest clan and that just very well may mean we're the strongest too!" In her excitement she leaped up and snatched a brightly colored leaf from a low hanging branch then tore it to shreds with her claws. "Just think! We would have the most secure borders and no one would ever try to bother us. We'd just tear them up like this leaf if they ever tried." Bits of orange, red, and yellow leaf shreds laid at her feet.
