Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
"Have you eaten today? It's important that you keep eating, I know you weren't able to eat yesterday before you traveled to the moon whatsitcalled..." The she-cat came bounding into the Leader's den. She probably should have asked to come in, but the she-cat was still not used to the boundaries that might naturally need to be set now that her daughter was the leader. "I thought about bringing you something, but I didn't know if you had already eaten."
Her eyes peeled open, and it took her a minute to come to. Her mother’s voice drummed on in her head and made it a bit harder to focus. Finally, Gardeniastar gazed at Roseglimmer. Ah, her mother’s overbearing worrying she always did. It was something she supposed she never would grow tired of. Despite it being a bit annoying at times, she found herself always appreciating the love her mother had over her kits. It was almost... inspiring.
“Good morning mother.” She grumbled softly, not quite answering any of the warrior’s questions.
She padded over, licking the forehead of her child. "Good morning, dearest," she responded. "Should I be surprised that you're still sleeping?" She let out an amused purr. Gardeniastar had had a long night, and she couldn't deny that. She probably couldn't judge her daughter for sleeping in a little later. "I guess not, hmm." She gave her another lick, her gaze warm. "How did things go? I know you can't tell me specifically, but how's my big leader?"
She fought the urge to roll her eyes at Roseglimmer. “Leader. Come on, Roseglimmer. Maybe it’s time to back off a little now..? I don’t want the others to think I’m weak or anything, you know?” Gardeniastar huffed as she pushes herself to sit up and began grooming the moss from her striped coat.
She looked a little hurt by her daughter's words, but she hid that behind amusement in her eyes. "So, what? I'm not allowed to love on my pride and joy?" She asked, flicking her tail. "If anyone has a problem with me, well, they can just come talk to me and I'll set them straight, okay?" Roseglimmer smiled. "Also, young lady, don't think I didn't see you fight the urge to roll your eyes. Even StarClan can't protect you if you roll your eyes at me." It was mostly a tease, and she partnered it with a soft nudge. "Oh, and you missed a spot," she meowed, motioning with her tail to a piece of moss on her daughter's back.
Gardeniastar gave a huff at Roseglimmer. The feline couldn’t help but find herself a little flustered. She quickly nipped the moss from her fur and spat it out. She was quiet then, her expression changing suddenly. She spoke, but so soft, as if afraid to be heard. “I’m nervous...”
Roseglimmer tipped her head. "Do you know why exactly?" There were plenty of reasons that would make her understand why her daughter might be nervous, but did the leader have one in particular? "Would talking about it help? You know that I've got as much time in the world for you. I could go grab breakfast for us and we could talk about your nerves?"
Gardeniastar gave a slow nod at the offer to breakfast. Regardless of how she was feeling, her stomach was empty and growling obnoxiously loud. She sighed as she began to clean her chest furs, knowing the cats outside in the camp were eagerly awaiting her presence.
She offered a worried smile, before exiting the den. She could see the expectant looks of some of the other cats who lazed around in camp, all of which she offered a casual wave of her tail. They didn't need to worry; Gardeniastar would come out as soon as she was ready. Still, Roseglimmer could understand why the others might be eager to see her. After all, the night before was the leader's ceremony.
After a moment, she returned with a rabbit. "Here," she meowed around its fur, before pushing it towards her. "First bite is yours."
Gardeniastar had closed her eyes and even dozed off again. She felt exhausted from the travels the previous night, but knew she simply could not sleep all day. She had many things to do, but yet all she wanted to do was curl into a ball and forget the duties and responsibilities that were now solely upon her shoulders. It was a heavy heavy weight.
As her mother returned she opened her eyes, though her lids seemed a bit low. It was obvious she lacked energy, but hoped that the rabbit would give her a bit of a boost. “Thank you...” she murmured as she pulled away the pelt, the smell making her stomach growl loudly.
