Gardeniacrown had made the journey as soon as it had been possible. The mourning of their lost leader had taken place the previous night. Arsenicedge being named as her deputy, though she felt uneasy about her choice. Not that he was possibly a wrong choice, but the cats of SummerClan hadn’t had the best reaction. The warrior had only recently joined the clan, and they’d expected Gardeniacrown to pick a cat who was more trusted, like a senior warrior. Due to her lack of experience, they’d expected her to pick a cat that could guide her with the previous knowledge of past leaders.
Yet, she’d still chosen a totally different cat than they had expected. _
She was naive, young, inexperienced. This worried the clan, but she still held her head highly. Determined to show them she could properly lead a clan. As she traveled with Graythorn, and they finally arrived. It wasn’t long before she was asleep and faced with nine starry cats.
Her eyes round with wonder, her paws almost weak at such a beauty filled sight. “Oh my.” The orange tabby she-cat breathed in, taken aback by them.
It wasn't often that Decemberstar was called to these things. Giving leaders lives was often reserved for those who were more experienced. The once DayClan leader hadn't led for long, and she often politely declined any invite to even watch the leadership ceremonies. They reminded her too much of her own, which, for all intents and purposes, had been... rough. Something that it was understandable that one would want to forget about. Yet, when she had been given the word that the newest leader to the docket of the clans was young and inexperienced, she knew that her presence would be needed. She had sighed quietly before packing her metaphorical things, preparing to travel from the outskirts of StarClan, where she normally stayed, to meet the new leader.
The tiny black and white cat was barely the size of an apprentice. Even in death, she looked frail. It had been one of the reasons her leadership had ended so quickly- despite her intimate connection with StarClan, she was very sick. Other cats didn't want a leader who existed in a perpetual stage between life and death. Out of the cats gathered, she looked most out of place, and if one had to guess, they probably would have guessed her name was Decemberpaw and that she was here to give a life of youth.
The cat's lips twitched into a smile when she heard the new leader speak. Amusement passed in her eyes; she could faintly remember that she had a similar reaction when she came to the ancestral plane to receive her own lives. "Welcome to StarClan, Gardeniacrown."
