The sun gently baked the ground beneath her paws and her fur felt warm as she padded along the border. Sunfrog was a young warrior, still small in stature, but with a heart that yearned for adventure. Of course, she would never dream of abandoning her duties to her clan, so her way of answering that tugging in her paws was to pad along the border and imagine what must lay beyond it. Today was no different than usual, at first. The yellow tabby had hunted and patrolled and then excused herself for a walk. No cat ever argued, possibly because her mother had only just died. That pain still tore at Sunfrog, but it most definitely wasn't the cause of her frequent walks.
Wy had chosen FallClan, and he didn't regret it. He had needed a fresh start, to get away from the hostile glares of his clanmates that remember his mistakes, and the clan was warm and friendly and they accepted him. He wasn't alone either, he had Calamityshrine, the deputy that had replaced him, as awkward as that could be some days for him. His family was in SummerClan, though, and he missed them fiercely, and more often than not he found himself making excuses to visit their border.
The golden-brown tabby trotted quietly along the border, lost in his own thoughts as per usual, his hazy green eyes unfocused in the distance. A glimpse of yellow-orange fur at the corner eye caught his attention and he spun around, beaming, to face the cat walking along the border toward him. "Is that you-" Wyverndelirium began excitedly, then stopped when he realized it wasn't his brother at all.

Sunfrog was so lost in her own thoughts that she didn't even smell the other cat until he was calling out to her. Startled, she hissed and backed up away from the border, "is it who?" Her mew had a challenge in and the small yellow cat stalked back up to the border with unsheathed claws.
FallClan, of course. And about to cross their border! The nerve of some clans. Trying to sound authoritative she lashed her tail and leaned towards the tom, "which of my clanmates are you looking for?"
He smiled nervously at the approaching feline. "Oh— don't worry, he doesn't know I was looking for him, please don't get him in trouble," he mumbled, ducking his head apologetically. He didn't want to cause any tension, it was bad enough he came down here looking for a glimpse of his family, he couldn't let everyone think their loyalty was confused.

Sunfrog glared at the tom a moment longer before nodding and stepping back, relaxing slightly. Should she walk away now? Unsure, she tried to engage him, "are you patrolling? Or waiting for that cat? I don't know if I can just leave you on the border like this..." It felt wrong to just keep walking when another warrior was on their border, but she always realized that fighting wouldn't be smart. She was small and alone and he could probably beat her in combat.
"I was just patrolling," he assured her quickly. It wasn't entirely a lie. "I won't cross the border, I promise, I'm not that kind of warrior. I know the rules." He could understand if she didn't trust him after this awkward meeting, though, and offered her a fleeting smile. "Um— hi. I'm Wyverndelirium, but everyone calls me Wy. It's easier."

"That's a mouthful," she agreed, looking slightly impressed by it. "Wyverndelirium." She liked saying it. "I'm Sunfrog. Sorry to seem so, um, unfriendly. You can never be too careful you know?" But he seemed nice and Sunfrog relaxed completely, "besides, it's not a crime to walk along the border."
Wy smiled again, feeling warm as she said his name. Most cats didn't even try to say it when they first met, they were grateful just to call him Wy. He didn't mind, but he liked the way his name sounded, and sometimes it was good to hear someone care enough to try. "Nice to meet you, Sunfrog," he greeted with a dip of his head, "and you were right, anyway. I really shouldn't have been so close to the border... I'm just still getting used to all this," he confessed. "I'm new around here, and my family are new to SummerClan, and I was just worried about how they were settling in..." He caught himself. "But you don't care about that. sorry." He ducked his head sheepishly.

"Oh I care," she promised, surprising herself. "Why aren't you here with your family. What happened?" Sunfrog had a stable family, or so she thought, her mother had been a loyal warrior until she died a few moons ago and she'd never known her father. But that wasn't strange to her. However, having family in a different clan was a weird concept to her.
Wy hesitated. "We were separated when our clan flooded," he explained. He was sure she could still smell his clan scent clinging faintly to his pelt. "We all lived in WaterClan then. I haven't gotten along with my family for a while, though, and things weren't going well. I wasn't used to being the outsider, and at that point I didn't have many friends left either," he admitted with growing shame. "So when I found FallClan I decided to try a new life here instead. I thought maybe I could start over. I didn't think I'd see Calamityshrine here." Wy laughed sorely. The tom had been WaterClan deputy after him and he'd never been sure how to talk to him.
