Stuck in a bush! How disgraceful. Frostfire was growling loudly as he yanked himself free of the spiky plant, fur clinging to it's leaves in grey and white clumps. What a morning! He'd tripped rather disgracefully leaving camp and now had leapt right into a bush chasing a mouse. He was acting like a thistle-brained kit today. Crossly, he yanked a sharp stick from his neck fur shook his pelt desperately. When he tried to sit to yank leaves from his sides, he hissed in pain as a burr dug itself into his fur and skin. If any of his clanmates saw him like this, he would most likely die of humiliation.

It was a nice chilly day to lay out, away from the pestering voices of his classmates and the demanding warriors always telling him what to do, so what if he was an apprentice, he had every right to do what he wanted. Snakepaw had slipped out of camp before his mentor could start barking orders in his ear and prowling through the territory when his green eyes caught sight of Frostfire, keeping himself hidden he watched the warrior as he hunted. The moment the grey and white tom pounced and landed directly in the Bush is when the laughter started, snakepaw couldn't stop himself, his laugh was not good humored or light but a dark cynical sound. "You're supposed to catch the mouse, not the bush, although it looks more like the bush caught you to be honest." He jabbed with smirk plastered on his face.

i meant frostfire oops, I've reread Warriors to recently cx
Frostfire's eyes flashed up and he growled at the apprentice, "thank you for the information, Snakestar," he sneered, feeling prickly and bad-tempered. He was near to elder-age now and didn't much like these younger cats. Back in his day all the apprentices had treated their clanmates with respect. "Where is your mentor?" Frostfire spit a twig out and stood up again, lashing a tail with leaves tangled all in it. "You shouldn't be out alone."

Snakepaw narrowed his eyes, his black and white patches fur rising in anger. Who did this old man think he was, standing with one paw in starclan as it was. "That's none of your business old man, I dont need someone hanging around me! I can do what I want." His voice was low, a snarl escaping in between words. "You're the one who needs watching it seems, you should be with the other elders waiting to die."
It was known by many that snakepaw even as a kit was a bit of a psychopath, and becoming an apprentice seemed to only have made it worse.

An unreadable emotion flashed in Frostfire's eyes but his only response was a tail flick. He turned to savagely rip a burr from his side and spit it out, his silvery fur clumped in it. "I take that to mean you aren't supposed to be out here?" His voice wasn't challenging now, just inquisitive. Frostfire had chosen to ignore the rude words about his age, he knew exactly what most cats thought of him. But he wasn't ready to retire yet. WinterClan needed him.
"Snakepaw!" Came a rather harsh tone as a beautiful and elegant white she-cat with piercing blue eyes and charcoal gray ears approached them. Frostcloud was the Keeper and highly respected by Winterclan. Despite her elegant features, she was quite dangerous and rough around the edges. "That is no way to behave. If you dont straighten up this attitude of yours, I will see to it that you take on all of the apprentice chores and I'm not exaggerating. Do I make myself clear?" Her icy stare bore into Snakepaw's threateningly. She had noticed that many of the apprentices needed an attitude adjustment and Snakepaw was one of the first on her list.

Snakepaw let out a sigh as he was scolded by Frostcloud, he was to be a warrior soon and then no one would be able to reign him in, but for now he knew it would be best to back down. "Fine, but you know I'm right. He is an elder and we all know it." The black and white tom didn't move to leave after his words, he had no desire to return to camp.
"Frostfire is a strong warrior despite his age. Not many cats his age are still out providing for his clan" she replied to Snakepaw's ignorant comment. "He should be respected."

Frostfire couldn't admit that the apprentice's comments had stung, nor could he express his displeasure at being protected by a younger warrior. Frostfire was still capable of defending himself, thank you very much. "Alright," he croaked, his voice choosing a horrible time to sound raspy and frail, "I'm sure this apprentice meant well." He knew he hadn't, but didn't want to drag anything more up. "Snakepaw is probably just eager to prove himself, like the rest of us had." Frostfire glared meaningfully at Snakepaw, "he just has a lot to learn about respect."
This was not the pair of cats he would normally socialize with, but they would do in a pinch. Especially since he realized Frostcloud meant well, "would you both like to accompany me? Perhaps Snakepaw could learn a thing or two?"

Snakepaw held back the disgusted feeling that came when Frostfire invited him to tag along, he really didn't want to spend more time than he already had with the two warriors but perhaps he could have some fun with it. "Alright, I'll come. "

Frostfire seemed satisfied and took the lead, padding off deeper into the territory, "let's catch a few snow hares for the clan, eh?" The soldier's sense of smell wasn't what it used to be, but what sort of WinterClan cat would he be if he couldn't catch a few hares or a mouse or two?
