Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Soaringbird had decided to go for a walk. Stressed out by her sister's absence she left her kits to be watched by Duskwing. She'd wandered for quite a long time, she'd honestly lost track of time a little. Before she knew it she was standing at the border between NightClan's territory and SunClan's. With a sigh she sat down and gazed out into the territory. She stayed on her side of the border but still just gazed out into the distance. IT was evening. Her kits wouldn't be waking up yet for NightClan's nocturnal activities any time soon. So she sat for a moment and just... watched the sky darken as the sun set.
Perhaps it was careless of Littlebird to come this far into enemy territory, but the she-cat had her eye on certain herb that was not easily found on her own territory. She had only intended to walk upon the boarder, but with the sun setting it was even more important that she find it before the NightClan cats began to stir.
Her pregnancy had not been an easy one, and this herb was meant to help the contractions she had been having stop long enough for the kits within her to develop. She had used the last of their store, and she needed a constant supply in order to ensure that she made it full term. Even now she could feel the tightening of her stomach, and the nausea that threatened to make her empty the meagar contents of her stomach.
She nosed through some long grass, until she found what she was looking for. The strong scent of the herb, helping to disguise the scent of the cat who was now sure to have seen her.
Soaringbird spotted the intruder and immediately bristled, she tensed ready to attack pausing when she realized that the cat was a small heavily pregnant cat. What was a SunClan queen doing on NightClan territory?
"Excuse me," Soaringbird meowed going over to the she cat. "I can see that you're heavily pregnant, but you're on NightClan's side of the border..." She frowned at the way she was snuffling in the grass. "What are you looking for? Bugs?" She asked.
Her golden eyes rose from the grasses, landing upon the source of the words floating through the cool air. Apparently the she-cat didn't recognize her, or she would not have been as friendly. "My apologies" she replied politley as she took a step backwards glancing over to where the boarder lied.
"I was searching for a herb, and I suppose I was distracted" the scent of milk coming from the she-cat, let her know that she had kits of your own "I have been a little scatter-brained lately, but I guess you know how that is" she chuckled.
She tried to maintain her composure, but the trip had taken a lot out of her. She had been on bed rest for moons, but if she didn't find this herb she would be in trouble. Foxstar was to busy dealing with the aftermath of Wormwood to go get some more.
Soaringbird looked her over. The younger she cat looked worn out, and to be struggling with a pregnancy on top of needing a certain herb. "Here, can you describe it to me?" She asked. "And maybe lie down, here, I can help you to the border." She offered. "That way none of my clanmates can give you grief," She let out a sigh. "Most wouldn't but there are a few who take defending our borders a little too seriously." She went over to Littlebird offering her her shoulder.
"I know I know you're SunClan and I'm NightClan, but from a fellow mother to another, it's hard." Soaringbird meowed. "I never needed any herbs," She went on, "But my poor little dears have some health troubles, and if they don't have the herbs they need it can negatively affect them."
Littlebird smiled and graciously took the other she-cat shoulder as she helped her to the boarder "I appreciate your help. Not many would help a cat from another clan" She would remember this kindness, should they ever meet again. She probably didn't know just who she had befriended.
Once she had reached her side of the boarder she settled down onto some soft moss. "What I seek is the root of a plant. It has small white flowers with a yellow center that grow on a vine. They are in bloom, so it should be easy to find. They smell strongly, albeit a bit unpleasant. I need a few stems of the roots. They usually grow up the stalks of long grass"
"I'm sorry that your little ones are ill. It is one of my many worries about the litter I carry. What is it that Ails them, if you don't mind me asking"
Soaringbird chuckled. "I'm honestly still alive thanks to the gracious help of other clans. I was born in NightClan but, an owl stole me away when I was an apprentice. BrookClan took me in and then when I was old enough Glowstar of DayClan helped me find my sister Burningstar." She meowed as she searched around for the herb Littlebird had described. "So I honestly can't just ignore another cat in need of help, when I myself have benefited greatly from strangers help."
"As for my little dears... unfortunately it's a health issue that we fear may last with them for the rest of their lives. Blazekit has occasional spells where his little body will spasm out. Infernalkit occasionally will have attacks and will need poppy seeds to calm down. And my little Skykit is blind." Soaringbird admitted.
Technically none of the kits were hers. But this she cat didn't need to know that. As far as Soaringbird was concerned they were hers, and despite their health troubles she loved them all fiercely.
The gray she-cat took in a deep breath, trying to push away the nausea as she listened to the other she-cat. It was a pity that all of her kits suffered from sort of ailment. In SunClan it would be taken as a sign that the mother of father had done something to offend the Sun God.
"Yes, no matter what happens I will love the kits that I carry" she didn't say that their father wasn't a member of her clan, nor that their father was the leader of their clan... "There is nothing that could ever make them anything but perfect in my eyes."
"Believe me, even though my little dears have their ailments, I love them so much. They mean a great deal to me." Soaringbird meowed. She pulled up a plant that she thought looked like what Littlebird had described. "Is this what you need?" She asked going over to Littlebird and setting it down by her.
"Yes that is it!" she replied with a grin. "Thank you for getting this for me. I won't forget your kindness stranger"
She slowly rose to her paws knowing that she needed to get back to camp before Foxstar returned and grew worried about her disappearance. The last thing she needed was a large patrol bargining in a causing trouble for the she-cat who had only helped her.
"I hope that your kits grow strong and healthy" She dipped her head in thanks as she picked up the fowl smelling herb between her teeth.
"And I wish you well as well!" Soaringbird purred sitting down. "Happy to help, though I should probably get back to my own little ones. That's another thing you'll have to expect not a moment of peace." She let out a soft mrrow of amusement getting back up. "Much happiness to you and your kits." She called before she turned and headed back to NightClan in higher spirits than she'd been than when she'd left the nursery. Perhaps it would be a good day after all.
