Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
(Thank you for all your patience! This is both a ceremony for all the promotions that have happened since August! As well as formally announcing Soaringbird is taking over as leader during her sister's absence.)
Soaringstar had been told by Turbulentsea that she would be the new leader of NightClan during Burningstar's absence. She had decided not to go get her lives... unless it became absolutely necessary. After all she was only holding the position temporarily while her sister was away... At least that's what she kept telling herself and telling everyone else. Deep down inside a part of her questioned. Was her sister going to return?
But since the duty of leadership now fell to her. She had to complete the duties that Burningstar hadn't had a chance to do since they'd moved. Her pregnancy making it difficult to do so. And Soaringstar had not stopped kicking herself for not trying to keep her sister from her quest.
It was too little too late for that, Burningstar was away, and NightClan needed Soaringstar now.
So once the moon rose to cast light upon the meeting cavern, illuminating the purple quarts of the Light Stone, making it shimmer and shine. Did she raise her voice to call together NightClan.
Once the cats had gathered she straightened up on the stone. "Cats of NightClan!" She called straightening up, trying to ignore the confused looks and the murmured questions of where was Burningstar or Larkwing. "My sister had a rough kitting in SunClan," She announced. She lifted her paw to calm the worries that rose up at her words. "She is all right, I have been assured she and her kits are fine... but travel is currently impossible for her. She will remain in SunClan for a time. And during this time, I, Soaringstar, will be taking over my sister's duties in her absence."
"What about Larkwing?!" Duskwing yowled, the now crippled she cat, sitting awkwardly with her damaged back leg at an odd position. "Shouldn't he be taking over for Burningstar?"
Soaringstar sighed shaking her head. "I fear he has disappeared. StarClan has not been able to find him. OR some of our other cats... But we will continue to search. However, NightClan can't be without leadership. So I will be taking over as leader, and my first act as leader. Will be to make all the promotions that Burningstar hasn't had a chance to."
Straightening up she beckoned her tail to Goldenpaw, Specklepaw, Tenaciouspaw, and Umbrapaw. "I, Soaringstar leader of NightClan, ask StarClan to look down on these apprentices they have trained hard and become warriors NightClan can be proud of. Thus I commend them to warriors in their turn."
After she'd completed promoting the four apprentices she turned and spotted Littlepaw in the crowd. She lifted a paw to gesture to her. "I would also like to take this moment to congratulate Littlepaw, who has been accepted into learning the mysteries of being a medicine cat. Congratulations Littlepaw. And now it's time for other kits to become apprentices to train to being warriors." She beckoned the kits to come to her so she could promote them.
Once she'd completed the announcement about the kits promotions and explained who was in what partnership she turned her attention to Duskwing. Since the she cats injury she'd been talking with Turbulentsea, and it was becoming clear that with her leg mauled as badly as it was. She would not be able to complete her warrior duties further. And had thus requested to retire.
"Duskwing," She said, the sharp tongued she cat lifting her chin when Soaringstar addressed her. "Is it your wish to give up the title of warrior and retire?"
Duskwing sucked in a breath casting her gaze at her kits, Spiderfang, Beetleflight, and Briarsong. Then she glanced at her injured leg and sighed before lifting her gaze back to Soaringstar, nodding grimly. "It is."
Soaringstar blinked sympathetically before dipping her head. "NightClan honors you and and all the service you have given us. I call upon StarClan to grant you many moons of rest."
With that done Soaringstar cast her gaze around at the cats gathered once more. "I have one last announcement to make." She said. "As I am taking over as leader, I will need a deputy to serve alongside me... and if should the worst happen, NightClan is not left without leadership again." She took a deep breath. She'd given it much thought. "NightClan needs a fiery spirit much like Burningstar to continue to thrive and be driven forwards as we have..." She rested her gaze on one particular ginger she cat.
"I say these words before StarClan, so our ancestors may hear and approve my choice. Flamingsoul will be the new deputy of NightClan." She said nodding to Flamingsoul.
(racer , Spot , Jetclaw please make training threads as soon as possible! Thank you ) (* Cyanide , this is just an in universe assignment, so Icypaw is noted as having a mentor) (** Faith , Spot , Jetclaw , this is also an assignment that will go into effect when the three of these cats return from being stolen by twolegs)
Umbrahound puffed out his chest when he was given his warrior name. He was finally a warrior.
Flamingsoul lifted her chin when she was named to be the new deputy. Although she looked prideful, inside was an angry and burning disappointment that she had not been made leader in Burningstar's absence. She had been sure that if she had gotten rid of Larkwing, they would have chosen her. However, she supposed being deputy, it wouldnt be too hard to overthrow Soaringstar. Soaringstar was a senior warrior, making her older and weaker than Flamingsoul. She just needed the right time to strike.
"Wait a minute! Flamingsoul just joined Nightclan! A pure Nightclan warrior should be made deputy!" Shadowfeather protested even though he wasn't a pure Nightclan cat either.
Squirrelleap purred when Umbrahound returned with his warrior name. "Congratulations." He told his adopted son. "Umbrahound, it's a good name for you."

"Flamingsoul has done a great deal of service for NightClan, she returned my sister's kits with Frozenfire. And has shown that her desire to be a part of this clan is strong enough for her to leave the league behind. A choice that could lead to her death. Because she has chosen our clan. Burningstar has long since cast aside the need for 'purity' in our clan, we need strength, new ideas, and most of all passion." Soaringstar said. "We cannot retread the same paths as before," She was rambling now but she kept going. "And so I've decided that for the time being Flamingsoul will serve by my side."
Besides when Burningstar returned and if LArkwing did not, her sister could then decide who would be her true successor. Soaringstar felt this was more training than anything, and an opportunity for the ginger she cat.
Plus Turbulentsea had mentioned in the visit he had received from Skysong, that flames were heavily referenced. Flamingsoul must relate in some way. Thus making her a prime choice in Soaringstar's mind.
Specklestorm pranced around the clearing, prideful.
His lip curled, he eyed the new leader; then he nodded once, approving. His own destiny had been uncertain and lost since the destruction of his clan. Their demise was on his paws, he knew, because he had not been there to lead them as he should have; but the brunt of the responsibility rested on the shoulders of the cats who had prevented his ascension, and now paid the bloody price. Rasputin's future hung in the balance... but hers did not. His mate had always been supportive at his side, and she was reasonable and fair, and would make a good leader to these cats in her sister's place. He straightened up stiffly, fixed his pale gaze on Soaringstar, and rumbled his approval for the crowd to hear.

Goldenhind beamed with his new name. "Umbrahound! We did it!" He purred, skipping up to his, now former, training partner. "Can you believe it? It seems like just yesterday we were covering ourselves with mud and sparring."
Ironjaw's tail twitched uncomfortably. It just felt wrong that Burningstar was absent. It ate her up inside to think about her mother in danger...
Ashpaw held her chin up and let out a purr as she was promoted. The proud she-cat was not going to let Burningstar's absence outshine her moment, even if the missing cat was her mother.
Soaringstar glanced out to Rasputin catching his nod and her heart warmed, blue eyes lighting up as she sat a bit straighter atop the light stone. She was glad he supported her, she would likely be seeking his counsel going forwards. She felt this was a chance for them to spearhead the clan and push NightClan forwards a bit.
She of course knew Burningstar's ideas and she'd strive to implement them in time, but for a moment she just took the moment to soak up the clan before her, and that for now, this was her clan to lead. Her mother in the stars had vouched for her and Burningstar's wishes backed it up.
Fierypaw was a bit saddened by their mother's absence, but like Ashpaw was thrilled to finally be an apprentice. She glanced at her sister and raised her tail proudly. They'd work so hard, that by the time Burnignstar returned they'd be warriors!
Umbrahound matched Goldenhind's excitement. "We did, didnt we?" He purred, touching his friend with his tail. He saw Goldenhind more like a brother than he did a friend. They had bonded closely with their time in training. "I could still probably kick your tail in battle, though" he teased, giving Goldenhind a playful shoulder nudge.
Squirrelleap chuckled at the two new warrior's antics. "Remember the goal isn't to be the strongest alone, but to be able to take down an enemy." He told them with a mrrow of amusement. He placed a paw on his chest. "You'll know you've made a name for yourself when you go around the gatherings and see the other cats take notice."
Squirrelleap winked at his son. "They try to keep quiet about it, but I get looks every now and then. Most cats are too proud to openly recognize another's greatness, you gotta take note of it in the subtle body language. In time you'll earn it, and in turn pick up on the silent grudging respect our neighbors will give us. Now our allies, they might talk crap, or openly rejoice our victories. But those who aren't with us? They're going to be silent and grudging," He chuckled. "Very grudging."
Umbrahound twitched his whiskers in amusement and let out a chuckle. "I wouldn't mind others talking about me...you know, in a good way" he purred, puffing out his chest.
