Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
The sun was high, the heat of greenleaf still perceptibly present in the mid-afternoon haze, before Bee had finished her morning duties. She was in the midst of proving her loyalty and her abilities to Springclan, still running her probationary period. These cats were strange to her, and she kept her distance, doing her duties and eating and sleeping alone.
Bee's sleek, petite ginger tabby form was curled up in a shady spot adjacent to the warrior's den, her honey colored eyes watching the comings and goings of the clan absently as she took a breather. They were so tightly knit of a group, so different to her upbringing and it threw her off, made her mistrustful.
"Are you enjoying the view?" a voice asked from the mouth of the warriors den. The silver tom left the entrance and strode toward the she-cat, his blue eyes looking her over. She was new so he felt it necessary to welcome her. Being one of the clan's Trusted, it was only right for him to introduce himself. With a friendly smile, he said, "Hi there. You must be Bee. I'm Viperstream. Nice to meet you."
"Enjoying?" Bee lifted her head to take in the approaching cat, feeling some vague sense of recognition, though there was no name in her memory until he spoke it. "It's interesting, if that's what you mean. Really different from what I'm used to." Feeling awkward about lying down while Viperstream stood, Bee scrambled to her feet, her lithe stature highlighted against the backdrop of camp. "My name's Bee," she returned the greeting, tilting her head. "You're a... what are they called? Warrior?" The names were still clumsy on her tongue.
He let out a slight chuckle, her naivety amusing him. "Yes, I am a what they call a warrior, however there is more to it than that," he said proudly. "I assume you're unfamiliar with clan life," he responded as he sat down, wrapping his tail around his paws. Curiosity ebbed into him. "So, what brings you here to SpringClan?"
"Incredibly unfamiliar," she admitted reluctantly. "I called you all Gladiators for the first day until someone corrected me." Bee mirrored the tom, sitting down and letting her tail rest near her feet. "I joined because I had a conflict with my loner group leader. I didn't want to live on my own. It's different here, but it's... nice, in it's own way. There sure are a lot of rules, though." So much emphasis on honor and rule-following was a new concept, and Bee didn't always see the practicality in it. It did seem to be working for these cats, though. "Have you always lived here?"
He nodded as he looked out over the clearing, his clanmates passing by carrying on their daily tasks. "Yes, I've been here all my life. Through thick and thin, good andn" he hesitated as a terrible memory came to the forefront of his mind, "...and the bad." she shook his, clearing the negativity and put on a friendly smile returning his gaze to her. "How are you liking it here so far? I must definitely be a cultural shock, I assume?"
"That's for certain," Bee's whiskers twitched in sardonic amusement. "Different roles, different structure, different lifestyle. It's all a little overwhelming, honestly. But I've found that I enjoy it more than my old way of life." Though she had been caught off guard, she was beginning to appreciate the conversation with Viperstream- she had been a little lonely, but also a little too unsure to approach anyone else to initiate a conversation.
He nodded I'm understanding. "I get that. Do you miss those from your old life?" he asked out of curiosity. The question almost sounded foreign to him. Since he was surrounded by so many of those born in the clan, he hadn't really had the chance or need to say those words. He shook his head. "Nevermind that, it's not my place to ask," he said.
These Springclan cats were so strange, with their curiosity combined with their timidity- they were dying to ask her questions, but also too hesitant too. Bee found it amusing. "You can ask whatever you want," the ginger she-cat told him; she prided herself on being incredibly honest. "I thought I would miss them, but I don't. They weren't the nicest cats in the world." She envied the deep ties that she could see among these Springclan cats, but she didn't know if she could ever be a part of it.
He nodded again. "Well, wouldnt this be another chance at making new friends and build deeper bonds?" he suggested. "But at least you were able to get out of such a bad situation." One thing lingered in his thoughts: if she left the rogue group on bad terms, would they come back looking for revenge against her. "Your previous group, they didnt set up camp anywhere near here, right?"
"Not that I know of, but I wouldn't put it past the leader to track me down," Bee shrugged. It wouldn't be a huge deal if he did- she now had the shelter of Springclan, and it was starting to feel like home, bit by bit. "But he would only bring three, four cats max. You'd all have no problem getting him to go away." Bee would fight Jay personally if he showed up. Last week she was still mad enough to kill him, but at this point she thought she'd just rough him up a bit.
He nodded. "But it would be best if they didnt come here at all," he added. He glanced around the camp grounds, noticing activity starting to wind down. "Do you feel safe here," he asked. He didn't doubt she did but he just wanted to have verbal confirmation.
