Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Recently, you may have been noticing an increase of pop-up ads when browsing Classic on mobile, or find yourself being redirected to another site. This is not an issue with Classic itself, but is a problem on ProBoards' end - specifically, their ad provider. To be able to host so many forums for free, ProBoards hosts a variety of different ads on these free forums, which is where they get their funding from. However, ProBoards ad policies prohibit ads that:
* annoy us (rapidly flashing, bouncing, etc)
* automatically play audio
* attempt to redirect you to another page
* attempt to install software on your computer or device
* promote adult content or services
Obviously, these recent redirects and pop-up ads violate these policies. ProBoards does have systems in place that can automatically detect ads that violate their ad policies; for example, a lot of the redirecting ads were removed from rotation a few hours ago as of writing this. Therefore, you should find a decrease in these kinds of ads.
If you continue getting redirected from Classic, please message one of Classic's administrators, and we will alert ProBoards' staff. Try to include a screenshot, or even the URL of the pop-up if possible. Additionally, you can also try clearing out your internet browser's cookies & cache. Because this is still an ongoing issue, this thread will be left open for users to ask any questions they may have.
Update on this issue, staff at ProBoards have been wondering if it's an issue with iPhones not receiving the latest advertisement blacklist, hence why iPhone users get these annoying ads that everyone else's devices block. It's still being worked on, so in the meantime, we ask that you keep on disabling the affected browsers' cookies & cache - I hear this is kinda confusing to do on Safari, so I'll leave this link HERE which should hopefully give you instructions on how to do so.
Once again, thank you for your patience with us on this It's been a little frustrating honestly, because ProBoards keeps going, "But we blocked the ads, we're sure of it!" And like, they did, but only sort of xD So thank you for your understanding, and answering our questions whenever we bug you about the popups. And speaking of questions, if you have any, feel fee to post them in this thread ^^
Also, I'm making this an announcement for the next couple of days because I think it's important that users see we are doing something even when the popups still appear, but if it's annoying, let me know and I'll take it off xD

Thank you for the very professional explanation. This is the kind of admin work I love to see! So informative and calming; you guys did your research and went the extra mile to make sure our members understand exactly what is going wrong.
Update again about this, I think we'll....tentatively mark this issue as SOLVED, because the issue seems to have essentially stopped both here and on other forums. And PB didn't even tell anyone what the real issue was in the end, or why it only affected iPhones, but...I mean, if it's really gone then I won't complain x'D
