deerHoneystorm @peepingpeeper @cottonseas uniqcrim @dreamrain || Here dat Funk family thread If you had told Funk he'd be leading the League and had 8 kits old enough to be trainees soon, he would have laughed. Oh, it would have been so funny. But this was reality, and it was still kinda funny. He didn't have a lot of time to spend with them, he was busy doing various Nemesis activities. Like getting reports from patrols, helping solve issues, keeping his pillow warm. All very important things. But he was astonishingly left alone today, so he snuck off to the nursery today. He'd normally want to bring them something fun to do, like a prisoner where he could show them the best ways to torture, or a dead animal cause who doesn't find interest in dead things or any number of herbs cause they need to know what to do if they eat deathberries. Of course, Miracle had always gave him a hard time over anything fun, so he settled for the next best thing, a young live rat he found in his lair today. It hung limp from his jaws, playing dead as Funk stood in the entrance way.
~~~
Hayate-chan was still sleeping, head pressed right into Nagi's chest. Even for the approaching fall, it was perfectly warm in their little den. Her dreams were spun of flowers and honey, overly sweet when the smell of something different muddied them. Rousing from her light sleep, she stared at her father with cloudy blue eyes. Tilting her head, she scrambled her way up and out of the warmth, not paying attention to where her feet were going. The closer she got, the more the smell of herbs hit her, and she knew this could only be her dad. "Dad! What're you doing here?"
Hearing her sister's exclamation, the tiny snow bengal she-cat named Mephilia-chan turned around, icy blue eyes piercing and devoid of anything substantial. She tipped her head as she took in the scene before her and the rat in her father's jaws piqued her interest. Standing up, she walked over and swung a single paw at the rat in his jaws. "Is it dead? Did you kill it?" She asked curiously, sniffing at it. If it wasn't, it would be fun to watch it die for certain.
He didn't even see his sister coming. Disco was upon her littermate in a heartbeat's notice, the glitter bengal tackling the tom without question, bright and joyous laughter escaping the vamp feline's mouth as the both of them fell in an ungraceful heap. "Well, well. Look who it is. If it isn't my oh so sweet brother Funk. Oh, let me correct that, Funk E'tan."
Funk would have touched his nose to each of their foreheads, but considering the living and breathing rat in his mouth, he didn't. So his tail tip would have to do as he booped them. "No, I haven't. I did take out it's front teeth so you guys could practice on it safely. So if Miracle finds out, tell her that first, okay." He was new at this whole 'fatherhood' thing, but he did is best and he loved how curious and adventure seeking his kits could be. He could bring them almost anything he found cool and they'd think it was cool and suck up all the knowledge he had. They were like little sponges, it was great. "He's playing dead. You commonly see possums do this technique but it's a good one for you to learn as we--EEEELLL." Normally, he would have put the rat down gently, well as gently as one could with a not dead rat. Instead, it flew out and tumbled a ways away as he hit the floor. In the whirlwind of confusion, he pushed up to get the mystery cat off of her when he heard that laugh. He hadn't heard it in moons, ages, and seeing the familiar glitter bengal face of his older sister, his confusion doubled. "Disco, what're you doing here?"
~~
Hayate-chan listened with rapturous attention, overly curious about how he managed to do that when he got tackled. Admittedly, the rat had her attention, and she was sure her dad could take care of whatever. The rat stood up and made for the exit, but she blocked him, quickly giving chase.
"Let me get it!" Riamu-chan said brightly, bouncing up from her spot in the corner to intercept her half sister's attempts to catch the mouse. She had greeted her father with a lazy tail flick when he arrived, but hadn't gotten up or paid much attention at all to what was being said. However, the excitement of the mouse scampering away had roused her enough to inspire a more playful attitude. "Let me!" She implored Hayate-chan, nudging past her.
Jazz paused in the doorway as his sister tackled his brother. Far too over the top for his taste. “I suppose she misses the joy of family” Settling down just inside the doorway he watched the chaos that was his family ensure. A large black and white paw batted the rat back in the direction of the kits as it tried to escape. Personally he would have brought the kits a bird, that would have been more of a challenge and these kits were old enough. Jazz did not really get the whole kit verses kadet thing, he was in the belief that kits should learn from day one so they are prepared when the time comes.
It had been just under a moon since he had found them and while he was close there was just something off that he had yet to figure out. It didn’t help that Jazz had yet to find a loyal minion or two to do his bidding. He hated not having anyone owning him their life. It was so boring without making little deals under the table yet he was trying to behave for the moment. After all his brother was in charge and Jazz did not want to make him look bad just yet.
Einheria the perfect little combo of her father Funk and mother Soigne. She stood out against her littermates Mephila-chan, Nagi-chan, and Hayate-chan. She was a mink bengal with her face, legs, and tail all dipped in charcoal ash from her mother Soigne. Two lavender blue eyes watched from the side lines as her littermate Hayate-chan and half sister Riamu-chan chased the rat. Being the oldest of her litter she watched her younger littermate chase the rat in slight disgust and slight curiosity. She had better things to be doing than chasing a rat. For example sorting her ever growing feather collection in her secret hideout. "Can I dissect it?" She asked caring little about what her siblings, aunts or uncle thought of her.
Reprise stopped at the doorway to the den, her whiskers twitching. It was nice to see her brother's family happy, playing peacefully. However, she hoped that he wouldn't enforce his poisoning ways upon his kits. She sighed, if only her siblings could be a little more... less insane?
She sat down next to her brother Jazz, nudging him in the side. "Speaking of family, I wonder what would happen if you had eight kits running about your feet?" The thought amused Reprise, she could almost imagine Jazz trying to look after kits. He'd probably treat them like his minions, more than his own kits.
It was funny, when the siblings had all lived together, she had never pictured Funk being a father, and she’d always thought she would be the first to have kits. But life never worked out the way you thought it would. At least they were happy, Reprise tried to remind herself.
If you asked him how he felt with almost his entire family finding him in the League, the Nemesis would have called it odd. Some of them he was closer to than others, most weren't the kind to settle down especially here. They say they heard a bengal was in charge, but it really could have been any bengal, even Vera's family who was in charge at one point. But fate was funny and the only one he hadn't heard from was Ballad. With her, he could never tell so maybe it was for the best.
"Hmmmm, true. Though now you can get off of me, Seventeen." Pushing up one last time, the auburn bengal was able to twist his way out of his sister's grip. Smoothing his pelt out, he joined his siblings in their little line and watched his kits laze around or chase after the rat. Some part in his cold dead heart warmed at it, they'd be some of the few he'd try to treat gently. Course, his idea of gentle yet fun was tearing a rat's teeth out and then sending the poor thing to be chased around by his kits, so really anything goes.
~~~
"Hey, wait up." Hayate-chan pursued Riamu-chan and the rat. Ducking and weaving through the seldom other bodies, she went to block it's path. The rat didn't stop, it couldn't really, and darted through Hayate-chan's legs.
"You'd think you'd be a little more happy to see your sister." Disco purred, her tail waving easily at Jazz and Reprise. Of course she had to come visit. Funk's name whispered on the breeze, alongside a title of Nemesis, something akin to leader of a savage group of cats. Well, she just couldn't miss it. At it seemed she'd showed up at the perfect time. She'd never have pegged her little brother for the type to have kits. In fact, she sort of scrunched her nose up at them in distaste. If there was one cat in the litter who was perhaps the least likely to end up with kits, it was probably Disco. She wouldn't be caught dead with children of her own.

Reprise tried to hide a smile at her sister's comment. She too had heard the stories of a Bengal with some kind of powerful position in a clan. The last part she had assumed. The old kittypet she used to live with had told her once he died, to find the clans. In the end, the right option had seemed to be finding her siblings, and with the chance of finding one in this "clan" she had heard spoken in the wind by passing cats, it seemed the right option. However, lately, she had found out this was place was little like the clans her old kittypet friend had talked about.
However, on the bright side, she had found her siblings. With a cheerful smile, she nodded to Funk. "Such a kind brother." She added quickly, before turning to wink at Disco.

Jazz listened to his sister's comments about kits, "Honestly I'm surprised I do not have any yet." There had been several flings and even one semi-long term relationship that he was surprised no she-cat had hunted him down for. So perhaps he could have children somewhere out there. Children could be fun, they liked to earn their father's approval by doing what he asked. Right? Jazz just brushed that off, he could figure out the little goblins once he had his own. "They do not seem too bad." He watched as they chased the terrorized rat around the room. So cute, already learning to be bloodthirsty killers.
"It is such a treat to have almost all of us back together again." Jazz looked over at his brother and two sisters. Funk and Reprise were okay, Disco irritated him sometimes. It was not her fault, even though it was her personality. He did not hate this though, it was nice to see Funk in charge because it previously had meant chaos in which Jazz could work. Reprise always tried to straighten them out and set them back on the right path. She meant well, he thought, even if she did not understand fun. Disco just seemed airy to him, almost out of it and never grabbing riches or power.

"It's strangely nice, I suppose." Funk never would have guessed being picked up by Mother E'tani would lead to this. In charge of his own group, kits of his own and reconnecting with most of his siblings. Why some of them joined PI was anyone's guess. Disco would go off and do her own thing, which he would too if he didn't have all these obligations. Guess the world only has to handle one music heartbreaker for now. Jazz was strange, he would have expected his brother to stay in the city away from any and all groups. Getting cats on his medicine was hard enough, trying to convince some to actually swear fealty would be like pulling teeth. As well as they got along, Funk didn't expect to understand him anytime soon. Reprise was another that didn't seem to fit in, for more obvious reasons as this was a group of killers and she was indeed not a killer. A part of him feared for his little sister getting swallowed into the ever present darkness here.
"At this rate, Hymn and Ballad will show up pretty soon too. Though don't expect anything special just cause I'm Nemesis."

Reprise rolled her eyes at Jazz's comment. "It truly is amazing." She tried to picture Jazz looking after kittens, it was an interesting thought but who had expected Funk to have kits? Anything was possible in Primal Instinct, that was one thing Reprise was slowly finding out. Deep down, she still felt like an outsider. Her siblings seemed to fit in like peas in a pod, but Reprise felt others judged her so quickly. A kind hearted kittypet in a world of deceit and darkness? She knew what they would be thinking... She won't last long, some day something will either send her mad like the rest of us or she'll die in some horrible way.
She turned to her brother Funk, "I think Jazz has got kitten fever, better watch out." She joked half halfheartedly. It was meant to be funny of course, but in reality the joke was an attempt to hide her thoughts, that seemed to haunt her like a shadow.

(ooc: lowkey if any of the sibs have kits, lemme know so I can put them in the family tree please)
"They're not just going to jump at any chance to please you, you know. Can you actually be okay with that?" Funk rolled with the joke, turning to Jazz with a smirk. Admittedly, he had no expectations for these kits now that Shaman was out of his paws. Not that they were born with any, which meant they could really only go up in their father's eyes. At this point, he was the one shouldering all those, maybe partially so his kits and siblings didn't have to. But when and if they wanted, he was more than happy to turn them over.

"We shall see about that." Jazz was certain they would indeed look up to him, after all, he was a successful cat. Or at least he thought he was, he had moments of delusional grandeur. What fun would it be if he did not think he was a step above most cats? Plus it would be so much harder to find underlings if everyone was equal. Though sometimes the underlings got too attached and he had to ditch them. Jazz was not a fan of clingers, the restricted his freedom and those who carried romantic feelings towards him further restricted his movements. If he was known for one thing it was getting bored and moving on to find excitement. Jazz hated, hated to be bored. It was, like, the worst thing he could think of. Yet ditching others rubbed him the wrong way occasionally. He did have manners after all. That's why he likes Euphrasie-Honoria, she understood him and yet still stuck around for fun. Plus he got the anger her slightly by using her whole name.
