Blood soaked into her paws, as blood dripped onto her from above. He mother lied dying at her paws, he father standing over both of them ready to strike. His only hesitation was her, not wanting to harm his only daughter. Before she even knew what was happening, her fathers throat was cut as he collapsed on top of her and her mother. Crushed between the two dying cats, everything fading to black....
"A nightmare... It was just a nightmare" Littlebird reminded herself as her eyes fluttered open to the soft light that flooded into the den she shared with the High Priestess. She took a deep breathe trying to settle her pounding heart and wiped the tears from her eyes. She was the Priestess Promised, she couldn't allow her clan to see her cry. She slowly rose to a sitting position, forcing herself to make herself presentable. She wanted to just curl up in her nest and cry, but she didn't have time for that. She had a lot to do, and more pressing concerns than the ghosts of her parents.
