Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
It had been awhile. Pale blue eyes swept the dark alley in front of him nervously. It had definitely been awhile. The noise of the city didn't used to bother him this much, he'd grown used to it but during his time away he'd forgotten just how loud it was. Monsters, twolegs, and bright flashing lights bombarded his senses. It would take some time for him to settle in again.
Again. For the third time. He narrowed his eyes. If he was lucky no one would remember who we was. His mate and kits were all dead, at the least the ones in the group. The leadership had change to the point he recognized not a single name. And old cats didn't last long in Absum Lux so he had a very good chance he'd be an unknown.
But first he had to make his way through the active city to reach the dead one. He swiveled his ears and scented the air, not that he'd be able to hear or smell anything over the noise and reek of twolegs. that's why he wasn't braced with the full weight of a cat landed on him, driving the air from his lungs and sparking fear in his heart.
Her claws dug into his pelt, a hiss escaping from her clenched teeth as she hung on. After a moment or so she rolled off him and shoved herself to her paws. Her heart was pounding so hard she could hear the blood rushing in her ears. Octavia’s fur was fluffed out, her neck fur ruffled and spiked. The tabby feline looked terrifying, her shoulders bunched as she redied herself to attack again.
She rushed forward and slammed her shoulder blade into his skull, meaning to daze the tom. Her pine green eyes flashed suddenly, realizing just who she was attacking. She staggered a few steps back, her facial expression changing instantly from aggression to a bit of confusion. Octavia recognized him now, and the shock of it sent a tingle rushing along her spine.
“Enigma?” His name came out odd, it felt wrong rolling off her tongue. It had been seasons since she had even had a thought about her previous High Sage. She blinked a few times rapidly, wondering if this were a dream. “What..?” Her heart was still beating fast, and her sides heaved as she struggled to catch her breath from their little spout.
Daze him she did. His gaze wandered as they followed the stars they were dancing in his vision. The voice. It was familiar. It took a moment, as he counted his blessing that the attack didn't continue. He'd most like have been killed had the cat been out to kill him. As his mind cleared his realized who was standing in front of him.
"Octavia? You're not dead yet?" He didn't mean it as as insult. The she cat had enemies in high places and he was sure she'd been done in by at least one of them at some point.
She couldn’t help but laugh. Octavia didn’t laugh often, but it was an oddly comforting sound. Her laughter was soft, and almost seemed melodic. Her eyes closed for a moment as she let the fur on her spine relax and lay flat, and her claws slid back into their sheaths. “No, I suppose I’m not.”
Her eyes looked over the cat before her, shaking her head. “Nor are you.” She lifted her paw and gave it a lick before running it swiftly across one of her ears. “I didn’t think you were still within the city.” She mewed, her laughter having entirely faded as she gazed at him, her lips just slightly parted.
"I wasn't." He mewed dully, feeling a shiver run down his spine. "The flood that claimed the survival clans spilled into the old Crowclan territory where we where living." He wrinkled his nose, feeling like he could still smell the floodwaters in his fur. "I escaped the worst of it, and I wasn't able to find the others." Sadness flashed in his gaze as he sat down. "So I figured I'd make my way back to Absum Lux." He shrugged, looking as defeated as he'd ever let himself.
“Flood?” A bit of shock flashed along her features as she heard the news. The survival clans had been entirely wiped out? So many questions raced through her mind, but she didn’t have time to respond before his true intention to being in the city was given. Octavia looked down, and shook her head.
“I see..” Octavia was clearly at a loss for words now.
“You can always return to Absum Lux.” She suggested, pine green eyes glancing him over. She was sure they’d accept the male back. Though, she didn’t know that Absum Lux was basically none existent.
"As can you Octavia, but I don't see you sprinting for the border either." He shrugged, his gaze drifting over the she cat once more. They were both getting older, Enimga was pretty sure Octavia even had a few moons on him, maybe it was time for him to settle back into a group. Absum Lux had been the placed he'd called home for the longest, it was the most logical choice.
