Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Peachblush waited just outside the SpringClan border, the moon slowly beginning its' rise into the evening sky. He'd arrived hideously early, but that was fine - it gave him more time to complain to himself. Becoming SpringClan leader hadn't been too shocking given that he had been next in line for a pretty long time, but the timing had felt more sudden than he'd been expecting. Plus, he still didn't have his leader name, which he suspected was beginning to annoy some of the older, more traditional SpringClan members. He liked his name the way it was; why did he suddenly gain authority only when his name had changed?
Well,if you like your name too much to change it, you should have thought of that before you accepted the position as deputy then. Idiot.
He shook his head lightly. Getting his leader name would have to wait until later. For now, he was meeting Kerrigan, a cat he'd had very limited interactions with even before he became leader. Guess there's no time like the present...to start networking.
The feline was stunning. This was not a debatable fact about her. Her soft, medium-to-long furs laid perfectly across her body. Around her head was a crown of begonias, intricately woven together. The crown was placed in such a way that it framed her deep hazel eyes almost perfectly. She was the apple to the eye of many a feline, but she was uninterested in conjugal bonds of any cat particularly, and especially not a tom's. By now, the entire forest knew that she was gay, so why didn't the creatures in her own group?
It was this stunning nature of the cat that made it so she was a creature to pay attention to. When she walked by, between her gaudy crown and the put together beauty of the face in which it lay, she was a cat of power. People knew it. Which was why she was unsurprised to see that the tom was already waiting for her just outside the border. It was not yet quite their meeting time, as Kerrigan had always arrived early to things, but the tom had beat her at her own game. Perhaps this was because the distance between the meeting spot was much larger for Kerrigan than it was for Peachblush. Perhaps this was because he knew that she was not a cat to keep waiting.
"Peachblush, I am glad that we could finally meet on an individual level," she greeted him as she walked up, a smile on her face. From the outside, it was clear why she had a populist fan base back home. She was confident and charismatic, when she wanted to be of course. "Or is it Peachstar, now? I apologize; I truly do not know how long it takes for these things to work out with," she paused breifly as to not say blasphemists, "StarClan followers."
"Don't worry, I'm still Peachblush," he said, giving Kerrigan a bright smile and a dip of the head. "Not too fussed on getting my name yet.......I'll get around to it eventually." Like how I 'got around' to fixing the elders' den, he thought to himself - but that was beside the point. "Anyway, thank you for coming. I hope I haven't kept you from anything a little more pressing."
THAT WAS BEFORE YOUR FIRST ONE WAS THREE PARAGRAPHS U TWIT also this is kerrigan and shes fun to write so sweats nervously
"Peachblush, it is," she repeated with an easy smile, before settling into a seated position. Her tail wrapped tightly around her paws and her muscles seemed relaxed enough. Yet, if you read the Tsar's body language closely, you would realize that she was more alert than normal. Although she looked as if she was focused on the tom in front of her, there was a part of her observing every single surrounding. Perhaps it was paranoia, perhaps it was intellegence, either way, it was unnoticeable unless you looked for the subtle signs.
"I appreciate the invitation. I had been meaning to extend to you an invitation to BrookClan, but it seems that you had beaten me to it." She chuckled slightly. "As for your hope, what could be more pressing than welcoming the newest member of the club of the elites to the forest? I was unfortunate in never connecting with Oreostar; I don't want to make the same mistake twice."
"That can always be fixed," Peachblush offered. "She is still around, after all. Just not as leader. Because that's me now." His eyes widened slightly, staring unseeingly at a small patch of grass just beyond Kerrigan's figure. "...Huh. You know, when I say it like that, the responsibility feels like it gets a just little bit more crushing."
Her lips twitched slightly. Ah, yes, this tom was of true SpringClan nature. There was that naivity about him that assumed that she would want to interact with a kittypet former leader. She wouldn't take the time to explain to him that she had no interest in cats outside of the SpringClan line of command. After all, they were the only ones that were worth her time. There was something endearing about this, however disgusting it was to see a leader wear his heart on his shoulder. Kerrigan said none of this.
"We came to power differently, you and I," she meowed with a flick of her tail. "However, despite these differences, I can assure you that it gets easier in time. The responsibility is hard at first, but you get better and better accustomed to it."
Peachblush paused for a few seconds, having appeared to have zoned out. "...I'm going to talk to Oreostar when I get back and set you guys up to meet," he murmured, seemingly to himself. He could get lost like that sometimes, although those who had been on the receiving end of it suspected it wasn't entirely unintentional on his part. "...Sorry, just thinking out loud. The bright side is, I'm no longer in charge of picking and choosing mentors," he remarked, suddenly coming back to himself. "Which is good, since the mothers have gotten a lot more...picky in the past couple of moons. I wonder if it has anything to do with that cult that stayed with us for a while..." he added, in a tone that implied that it was definitely, absolutely because of the cult that had stayed with them for a while. Did you ever come into contact with them? We drove them out of our territory, but I'm not sure where they dispersed to after that."
( soz i wrote this at 12:30am peachblush is just me rambling rn )
"You really, really don't have to," she meowed immediately, her eyes widened slightly. That was honestly the last thing she wanted. However, she didn't want to be too rude about it; she didn't want to make enemies that fast. She was glad that he changed the topic quickly, but then realized that he was just continuing to spill his problems on her. She was not a therapist, nor was she even an ally to this tom. Why was he doing this? Was he this naive? Did the news of BrookClan's activities not reach to this part of the territory? Kerrigan was often friendly, but she was no ones friend. She was the last person you should be telling your clan's problems to.
"I had some first hand experience with the cult, yes. Well, perhaps not you're cult in particular, but a cult. Glowstar introduced me to them. Very interesting sort, they are." She meowed this with a humorous chuckle. Every time she thought about them, she felt phantom pains of broken ribs. "You as leader do not assign mentors?" There was an interest in her voice. Even when she had a boyar, she never trusted anyone with such a task.
Peachblush paused for a second, making a mental not to never miss a chance to invite Kerrigan to meet Oreostar. "SpringClan tends to hand that task off to their deputy," he replied, a somewhat dark tone entering his voice as he thought about all the times that Sunbeam had made his life miserable with her incessant complaining, back when he was still second-in-command. He shivered. At least I only have Sootcatalyst to worry about now. "...Mostly because Oreostar was practically an apprentice herself when she became leader, and I assume it was fairly awkward for her....There was a whole thing."
"I imagine that that could be difficult," she agreed. "It is much easier in BrookClan. Viony are trained by viony, and they appreciate that that is the highest rank of mentor they would get under normal circumstances. The royalty trains future royalty, with few exceptions." The task was something, of course, that took Kerrigan a significant amount of time. She tried to perfectly match cats as to make pairs that culminated in the most success. It was a delicate game, but one she enjoyed playing.
"I could see why that might be uncomfortable, yes. This forest tends to produce many young leaders, perhaps many leaders that are too young for their own good." The statement was cryptic, and it was unclear exactly what she meant by it. However, Oreostar hadn't been the only cat who was barely of age... "I give them credit for assuming the role so young, but I wonder if it is the best for their clans."
"I'd rather impale a turnip on a stick and have that as a leader than have Tarantulastar again," Peachblush muttered. "...You really should meet her, you know. Anyway, she's enjoying her retirement. I hope. There's a few cats I can think of who might make that difficult for her."
