Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
She'd been washed down the tunnel with the floods. Go figure, Genesis had been sulking around the survival clan's territories for awhile and just as she was thinking about leaving a wall of water caught the white she cat by surprise. Her pale blue eyes flew open as she woke from her brief bout with unconsciousness. She instantly knew where she was and groaned. The former Absum Lux leader wanted to run but the pain she was feeling in her shoulder told her this wasn't an option.
Fear pricked in her heart. She hadn't kept up with the regime but she'd had enemies here in the past. Unable to flee, she was unsure of her fate. She hear paw steps in the cavern behind her. Was this her end or her salvation?
"More debris. Amazing," the tom muttered as he turned the bend in the tunnel and surveyed the covering of leaves, branches, mud, and rock that had started to flood the underground. He wouldn't have minded the scraggly prey and soft spanish moss that had been delivered to their paws, except it was all so soaked and disgusting it was unusable. Grunting, he started to push his way through the tangled remains of a bush and looked up on the other side to see a cat waiting there.
Raijin pulled free of the bush and stood up, a fierce, wild grin overcoming his features as he strolled closer. "Now isn't this a gift I've been brought," he mused, sweeping over her with a cursory glance, inquisitive but brief. There would be time for a closer look later, after he knew if she was on the verge of an attack.
Genesis bared her fangs and growled as the tom's face came into her field of vision. Unfortunately her body was still trying to rid itself of the flood waters and that growl turned into a gagging cough as more dirty water purged itself from her body. At least with the mud and water covering her she wasn't easily identifiable. Maybe she'd make it out her here alive, but not the way she came, that way was completely blocked by the debris.
His mask briefly flickered into a frown as she coughed - another cat sick with the flood to look after, great - but then he was smiling again. "Don't stress yourself out. I'd have for you to collapse here, it's an awful long way for the Chaman to walk with his little legs," Raijin told her. "Why don't you sit down? I'm not going to attack you, if we fought every stray our Mercenaries would actually have a job to do."
At least the tom has a sense of humor. Genesis sighed as she let herself sink to her haunches. There was very little chance she'd even be recognized at this as this moment. "Fine." She mewed, bad tempered as always. "But I can take care of myself, probably better than your Chaman could." Her pale blue gaze challenged the tom to try to say she was wrong.
"I thought that too when I first met him," he meowed agreeably, "but turns out, the little guy does know what he's doing. He might look like a kit but he knows his craft." Then he shrugged. "But if you don't want treatment it's no fur off my pelt. Why don't you come get yourself cleaned up, join us for a meal, and then head out on your way?"
The blue tom's words were friendly, but his gaze had narrowed as it swept over her, a bit suspicious. He didn't know Genesis well, he had been in the League when she was leading the Coalition, and with the mud covering her fur she was nearly unrecognizable to him; but still, there was something familiar in the shape of her muzzle and her voice that nagged at him, like an old memory he couldn't identify. It made him wary.
Genesis decided to stop fighting, the quicker this cat lead her towards an exit the quicker she could get away from this place. "Fine. We'll do it your way." She snapped, her blue eyes flaring in annoyance.
"Good! I'm glad you're seeing reason. Come right this way," he added as he willingly turned his back on her to lead the way. He wasn't worried about her attacking him. He was a decent fighter, he'd hear her coming, and the flood must have weakened her. Raijin paused and glanced back over his shoulder. She had already turned down Meepo's help, but he still wanted to know if she was injured. "Can you walk?"
"My paws all still work." She replied, curling her lips at the smell of the flood water that was coming off her but she dared not lick her pelt. Not only was it camouflaging her, she'd be tasting the vile water for moons. "Lead the way." She'd do her best to get out of these tunnels as fast as she could.
Good enough. Raijin nodded as he turned to lead the way once more. "Keep up. I don't want you making a wrong turn and getting lot, my mercenaries are not always so kind as me. They like to throw cats in prison first and ask questions never. Makes them feel safer that way." Unfortunately for Genesis, he was quite the chatty chat. "You must have some friends or family around here, hmm? They must be worried about you."
My Mercenaries. That comment didn't get past the she cat. Crap.. of course I'd be found by the leader and not some random cat. She was cursing her luck now even more than when she'd been swept up by the flood. "I'm sure they're dead." She mewed dryly. She hadn't seen Enimga or Mysterium since before the flood but she could only assume they'd been swept up as well. Only proven otherwise, she'd assume she was the only one that had survived.
Raijin twitched his ear. "We've seen a lot of casualties, but you'd be surprised how many other cats have survived. If you'd like you can stop by and look at all the rogues we've picked up so far and see if you recognize any," he offered. "You're not from one of the clans, are you?" He'd heard a rumor or two from the injured cats they'd found that some of the clans had been surprised by the flood and taken a lot of damage, though they didn't have any exactly numbers yet of how many ended up surviving.
