Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Raijin's whiskers twitched as he examined the rubble blocking one of their tunnels. It was an auxiliary tunnel leading to one of the clans, he wasn't sure which, so it wasn't that important, but it could be a useful attack or escape route. Either way, he preferred not to have a whole section of their land closed off to them. It was dangerous. He tilted his head back to eye the top of the heap of grass and churned dirt, where the roof had collapsed and now exposed open air.
"Well, at least we have a new entrance," he mused.
"Or another entrance for our enemies to find and sneak up on us." Came the concerned voice of Damon. The fluffy brown tabby tom peered up at the hole in the tunnel ceiling, then looked at the blocked tunnel ahead and frowned. He prodded the rubble blocking the tunnel and it was firm. "Hmm...this storm did quite the damage. Not to just the tunnels but to the other clans, too."
"Then they'll be too busy with their own preparations to invade us," Raijin concluded, returning his gaze to the surface after a cursory look over his companion. "No clan cat wants to invade the tunnels anyway, they wouldn't know what to do with this land." He stepped closer to the rubble and leaned on it, testing with his weight if it would hold him or collapse into a bigger mess. This pile was mostly just earth, so he leaped up onto it and though grains skittered away from his paws, it held.
Damon considered what Raijin was saying. It was true, not cat really cared for the tunnels but they were still good passageways to other clan territories. "Perhaps but the tunnels have been fought over before. They branch out all throughout the territories. Easiest way to invade. But your right. With the amount of rain we have received and the damage done, they will be too busy with their preparations. Especially since some of the other clan's territories were flooded out. Cats are taking refuge in ally territories. Including us." He watched as Raijin tested the mound of dirt blocking the tunnel. "Are we going to remove that blockage?"
Raijin didn't look concerned about invaders in the least; even if Damon was right about other clans typically wanting the tunnels, it wasn't his priority right now. Besides, he was always itching for a good fight, and what clan patrol would think they could stand up to trained Mercenaries? Even his friends back in the League would have a hard time, he suspected - they were made for ambushes and surprise attacks, not facing down hardened legions. Not that any of those hunters had the brains to consider that before they attacked, but they were preoccupied by their own issues.
"Let them keep coming here. Eventually, they'll join us or we can sell them to the other clans for profit," he answered with a twitch of his ears. He wasn't thrilled about having trespassers on their land, especially useless injured ones that would waste their prey and herbs, but at least then they'd have a chance of trading them back to their families for some prey. "If we can, but it's pretty stuck in there. I don't know how much of the block we can clear."
Damon nodded in agreement about selling out some of the clan cats taking refuge with the Regime. Then thought about the tunnel, "true. We could still try to clear it but the whole tunnel could collapse if we aren't careful."
"Why don't you try and climb through and we'll find out?" he suggested. "If it collapses and you're stuck on the other side, you can always walk out the long way." He didn't really expect Damon to go through with the dangerous task, though it would be easier to break apart some of the pile with someone helping from the other side.
"What? The whole tunnel could collapse. I could be crushed underneath it. It's too risky" Damon pointed out, surprised that Raijin had suggested such a risky plan.
The blue tom shrugged. "Maybe, but it might not. It looks somewhat stable." He tested it again, then swiped up at a few rocks near the top of the pile. They tumbled down backward and hit the ground with a shaking thump.
"Suit yourself. Understandable," he admitted, flicking his tail as he backed away. "Still, we do need to find a solution for this, we can't just leave the tunnel half-blocked."
Raijin was tempted to disagree. He wanted to get this over and done with, not trek halfway back through the tunnels to find support. Damon was right, though, so reluctantly he nodded. "Not a bad idea. There must be someone around we can recruit."
