he sky turned fiery orange as the sun began its decent into the dark horizon bringing along with it a soft and gentle breeze. Foxwhisper quivered slightly as the chilly wind ran through her own fiery red pelt, but the coldness did not faze the she-cat, her eyes scouting over the darkening land nearing Waterclan Territory. Foxwhisper had only heard of the stories from the few survivors that managed to make it to Summerclan camp. The sickness and the flood. There was a call to arms, all paws working tirelessly around the clock to provide to the wounded refugees that arrived daily to their home. With their leader dead and bountiful new cats to fill up the dens throughout the camp, there was too much to do and not enough cats to do it. A handful of warrior bounded together to take individuals responsibilities. Foxwhisper opted to scout the borders in search of new refugees in need of aid. Today had been the first quiet day at the border with no signs of anymore Waterclan cats.
On any day, silence at the borders was starclan-sent, it mean't no impending threats or intruders, but today it felt different. There was an eeriness to the silence that haunted this border throughout the day. Foxwhisper willed for the sight of more survivors. There had only been a handful that made it to Summerclan, but far too many still unknown. It was hard not to see the concern in the Waterclan cats that arrived, their eyes brightening slightly at the sight of returning warriors like Foxwhisper who returned to camp with a surviving cat or two. Tonight, Foxwhisper would receive those same looks, but they would be accompanied with disappointment when they realize. Foxwhisper's heart ached at the thought of seeing that disappointment. The somber thoughts that filled the she-cat's mind created an invisible weight on her shoulder causing the she-cat to shudder again.

The flood that had raged through Waterclan had now settled, though it still lay like a thick blanket over the land. Shallowleap had been searching the area for his sister Splashpaw with no luck, he had watched as the water washed her and her unborn kits away, he had tried to go after her but the rushing current pulled him further from her. The large black and white mottled tom let out a sigh as he stood on a fairly dry patch of land, he had decided to follow those of his clanmates who went to Summerclan in hopes that his sister would already be there, his cold eyes glanced back and forth as he re-gathered his bearings and located the Summerclan border.
Following the drifting scent of the foreign clan he lifted heavy paws and began to walk slowly toward it only to stop when he caught sight of the fiery she-cat, she seemed to be searching for something, or perhaps she was patrolling. The reserved tom watched her for a moment before letting out a grunt and stepping closer, he had lived his whole life dedicated to his clan weary of others but it seemed now that he would have to at least try to change his views. "Excuse me." He croaked in a deep voice, hoping it would grab her attention.
he unrecognizable scent snapped the she-cat out of her deep thoughts before any other factor could. It felt like a wave of cold water splash onto her, shocking her other sense back into work mode. Stormy orbs shifted forward and took in a dark figure just as words escaped him. The sight was not pretty. You could note that there was white on the tom's pelt but it was stained with a dirt brown color. Everything about the time was dull with visible hardship with the except of a cold and piercing gaze. Though the scent of a clan was masked heavily with the smell of wet dirt, Foxwhisper knew to what clan the stranger belonged to.
The mistrusting gaze was not new to the she-cat. Every surviving cat that crossed the border always gave her the same look, but it was more than understandable as every inch her own body initially always flared with a fierce need to protect and defend, but times were different now.
"Waterclan, correct?" She spoke softly, her voice strong despite the calmness of each word.

Shallowleap nodded to the she-cat, he was still weary of her but she had been the only cat to cross his path in almost two days. "Yes, I know some of my clanmates came this way to join Summerclan." He stopped and thought for a moment as he wondered how much he should say, he needed to know though. "Have you seen a small she-cat, she looks just like me but with blue eyes? She is expecting kits." There was desperation in his voice, he couldn't hide it as much as he would have liked to, but the thought of his younger sister not being alive sent a sharp pain through him his defenses dropping for a short moment before he put them back up.
he firey red she-cat's expression was stern as she took in the tom's question, her mind immediately knowing the answer. Foxwhisper had personally volunteered on nearly every border patrol in search of surviving cats. She had seen every single one that made it safely to Summerclan camp, but none that had fit the description given to her.
"I am sorry, we have not had a she-cat like the one you described come to Summerclan territory." She spoke carefully, her eyes taking in the tom's reaction, painfully aware of the impending disappointment. "We have cats stationed here at every point of the day to keep a look out for more survivors." Foxwhisper stepped forward, careful to given the tom his space, but close enough to inspect him closer " Are you hurt?" She asked, her eyes peeling off of the dirty and matted tom to meet his own.

Shallowleap did his best to hide the twisted look of pain that her words caused, would he have to give up and just assume Splashpaw was dead, killed by the flood along with so many of their other clanmates. No. He wouldn't give up hope, but there was nothing he could do right now. "I'm fine, just cold and wet." He answered in a monotone voice, he had no energy to clean himself for the past few days his mind having been set on finding his sister and making it to Summerclan and he knew his appearance must be awful but he truly didn't care. Raising his yellow gaze to the Summerclan she-cat he let out a sigh. "If your clan is taking in those affected by the flood I would like to stay." He hoped at least if there were a large number of Waterclan cats here one of them would be able to help him.
ed brows furrowed slightly as she took in the tom's reaction, though it was small and barley noticeable, Foxwhisper could only imagine the emotions going through the tom as he obtained an unwanted answer. " Of course." Foxwhisper meowed, offering a small smile. "Please, follow me." She turned partly, her eyes never leaving the tom as she nodded over in the direction of camp.
OOC Notes: Oh honey bunches of oats sorry for the lame response, I hit a writers block

(Sorry about not responding for so long, real life has not been friendly to me as of late)
Shallowleap nodded and began to follow Foxwhisper, he felt uncomfortable knowing her eyes were on him especially while he was in such a state, he hated appearing weak and in front of a stranger no less. "I take it you all have had a lot of flood survivors come your way? Are they all from waterclan or some of the others as well?" He wasn't much of a talker but it seemed the only way to keep his mind off the horrid thoughts about what his sister may be going through.
