Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Zero needed to find her. Peach and Thane had ditched them like crowfood the second the rogues had turned out to be too strong for them, leaving the Luminary to try and pick up the pieces. Cats listened to him, at least as much as he could hope for, given the hierarchy being in shambles. Cats were terrified to go out, the rogues had all but taken over, and for the most part, no one who was left departed from the church except as was absolutely necessary for food and water.
Well, he couldn't very well sit here waiting to die. Not only because he was pretty sure he'd be driven insane, but because he simply wasn't the sort to wait around and die. As such, he took what little rumors there were and ventured out in the hopes of finding Octavia. If anyone could convince the remnants of Absum Lux to leave their home and save themselves, it was her. He just had to convince her first that this was a necessary step.
Octavia didn’t want to be found. It was rather clear that she had tried to cover up any signs of herself, staying well away from other cats. Even the loners or rogues. It was almost as if she were a legend, a cat made up. She was real, Subject Zero knew, he had been there during the creation.
She never slept in the same spot twice. It was a rule, to keep herself away from others. Her current makeshift nest was not as warm as she preferred. Not like her nest back when she’d been the heda over Absum Lux. Lined with rabbit fur, moss and bracken making up the base. No, this nest had a cold thunder path flooring. The walls nothing but a mere trodden box. The light from the city was bright, so there was no darkness as if she were in the abandoned church.
Octavia did miss home, but something seemed to steer her away. To hold a want for being alone, was a sad life. There was always the question when a cat would be looking for her, it formed in their minds quickly. Why was she wanting to disappear? Who was she wishing to avoid?
As the lights of the city blared into her ‘den’ Octavia was curled inside. She was in somewhat of a ball. It was clear the feline was cold and attempt to get warmth, by her position. She was asleep, her tabby body moving slightly with each breath. Yet, her twitching ear was a sign that she was not sleeping deeply.

Despite her valiant efforts, there was rarely such a thing as disappearing into thin air without any sort of trace. It was easy to fade away, but quite difficult, in actuality, to be lost completely. Especially when one, in the end, was so truly close at hand.
Subject Zero hadn't been trained to be an idiot. If he hadn't been a cat who could endure any sort of thing that was thrown at him, Sayaka's experiments would have killed the skeletal tom long before. He was intelligent and strong, had to be for Octavia to have chosen him as a Luminary so long ago when Toxicity had become Absum Lux.
Rumors swirled about cats, and he lent his ear to them all, knowing how to coax information out of even the most stubborn of felines. Everyone needed something. Maybe it was a bodyguard, a certain cat dead, or even information of their own. The icy eyed Luminary was used to being a grunt, a messenger, obedient and quiet, but he was neither naive, nor so weak as to be overwhelmed by the sheer force of a cat, and it soon spread that he would provide service in exchange for the information he needed about her, that those who tried to con him would pay dearly, and often with their life, though he wasn't particularly the murderous sort.
This was yet another lead, by a shady sort of cat in a dark alley. Needed a fellow street cat killed, but in turn, had given an almost perfect description of Octavia, had pointed him in the direction she'd been last heading. Zero had a few friends watching the informant, just in case this search yielded nothing, but he'd been getting closer, he knew it. The night prior, he'd caught her scent, and his information was just too tauntingly good to be true, it seemed. If this was a success, there would be yet another cat's blood on his paws as he repaid cat for his good word.
And indeed, the cat seemed to have been telling the truth. All at once he caught her scent, stale at first but stronger going as he went. There was a companion at his side, and he gave a slight nod, telling the city she-cat to inform the tom his request would be granted, and that his enemy would be dead within the next two sunrises. It also served to him in the privacy he needed for this encounter by sending her away.
He almost passed the box at first, silent footfalls moving a few steps beyond the dirty sleeping place. He'd been following her scent, and for a fraction of a second, he had been so absorbed that he hadn't realized it stopped. Turning, he stepped back, peering into the makeshift nest and seeing a form curled within, his own Absum Lux scent invading her space, familiar, but likely unwanted.
Cats came and went through life. Cats bothered her here and there, and often times she would send them on their way with their ears clawed. Octavia wanted nothing more than to be alone now, and had made that clear to any cats that attempted to search her out. Yet, the peace she requested was seemingly unattainable.
Her eyes peeled open immediately. The voice that hit her ears was unmistakable. His scent flooded her senses and she felt a sense of dread creeping into her very being. The silvery striped feline uncurled herself and rose to her paws, her eyes narrowed to fine slits. As she gazed at Subject Zero, she found herself longing for home. The home she had made. It could never be though, right?
Octavia tilted her chin up slightly, her pine hues eyes boring into the tom. It was not a happy reunion, no it was far from that. Octavia looked furious. “What do you want?” Blunt and to the point. Just the way that the first heda had always been. Octavia was always a cat of few words.

He hadn't expected much of a greeting from Octavia. With the rumors it became clear that she didn't want him around. Of course, there was the small hope in his mind that she would at least be somewhat receptive to his presence, but it seemed he wasn't so lucky.
Subject Zero leveled his own stare at her, meeting her eyes without hesitation. His expression, unlike hers, was neutral, reserved and nigh unreadable, though his tail gave the slightest twitch. There was no point in dodging the subject, least of all when she didn't seem interested in pleasantries. "Absum Lux needs you." He replied, his tone blunt.
If she hadn't noticed it before, it was readily apparent now. His fur seemed to hang more against his frame, ribs accentuated by his striped fur now actually visible, rather than just being seen as an illusion. Scars crisscrossed his body, more than their ought to be, even for a skilled fighter. Zero looked more like a starving rogue than a cat of the group the former Heda had created, and there was a sort of weariness behind his eyes she couldn't unsee, no matter how much the tom acted as if it wasn't a problem.
He didn't offer any further explanation, simply waited for her reaction. It would tell him all he needed to know; it would tell him if she'd truly given up on their home.
In the short silence that had grown between the two cats she was able to observe him. Her eyes flicked across his body and she came to the quick conclusion that he was not in good health. For a fleeting moment she wondered if Sasyaka was out there still and messing around with her crazy experiments. It would have been a logical explanation as to why the tom looked the way he did.
Yet, his voice broke through her thoughts and she was immediately proved wrong in her assumption. No, something deeper was happening within the Coalition. His words gave no explanation as to what, and it made her almost want to recoil and tuck tail. Octavia was a strong cat, and was not one for weaknesses. So instead of doing what she wanted to do, she merely stood to her paws and moved from the box.
She was not exactly as fit and muscled as she once was. Her frame seemed as if it were going down Zero’s path. Just, well, no where near as bad. Her eyes narrowed and the pine hue focused on him solely. “You’ve come to me to fix the issue, is that right?” Of course it was. Octavia, the creator of the Absum Lux. What better cat to fix them? None other than her of course!
“What is it then? What ails the coalition that the heda cannot fix? Have they become weak?” Her last word seemed to be spat out, as if she were disgusted that the cat whom was in charge couldn’t bare the weight of leading a group. Couldn’t take responsibility! .

"That I have..." The tom hesitated then, seemingly searching for the words to explain. "In a sense."
He was relieved, inwardly, that she had not truly turned her back on them. Even still, that did not make his task an easy one, to explain what had become of the place she created. "Absum Lux, in recent times, has become weak. It's recent leaders have been cats not of the Coalition, and that has been to the group's detriment, though we believed in Wanheda's wisdom to choose our Heda. This latest one, Peach, who you may have heard whispers of, he was formerly SpringClan's leader, and his mate was Vera's son, formerly of the League. In even more recent times, a rogue group has been threatening us. Not that this is unusual, and Peach organized an attack on them. But we became so weak that we could no longer fight them. And then our Heda fled in the aftermath, after pushing the Coalition into a suicide mission. Those that survived have either fled, or hide in the church, starving as the rogues run rampant."
It wasn't a pleasant tale, given the tom's expression, ever more grim as the story was told. "The Coalition cannot rightly be called more than a band of survivors, clinging to traditions, names, and a sliver of hope that Wanheda will speak to them. I have stepped up to minimize the deaths, but none of us, not I, nor the High Sage, or even the Charged, have received a vision from the deity. She has gone silent, and though they often listen to me, I am no Heda. No, I have come to you, not to ask you to save the Coalition and bring it to glory. I ask you to return to destroy that which you have made, and save these cats from dying more needless deaths." This was most certainly not what she would have expected, least of all from Subject Zero. He, more than any other cat, knew that one could come back from many things. Even the brink of death. For him to go out of his way not only to find Octavia, but to ask her to let that which she made die... things had to be extraordinarily dire.
Octavia listened. It was nothing of what she’d expected. Her lips pressed into a fine line as she heard the news that the heda had become nothing short of a coward. Fled from mere rogues! A growl bubbled in her chest as she gazed at Subject Zero. It was loud, and she didn’t even attempt to hide it. It was clear by the look on her face and the way her lip twitched into a sneer that she was unimpressed, and quite frankly, ticked.
“You mean to tell me that the heda fled from rogues?” What a laughing stock. What a waste of air and space in the world. What had made any of the hedas choose that cat, a cat with no backbone? She didn’t know the cat, nor did she really give two cares for them, or at least. Previously. Octavia would kill that cat on sight if she ever got the chance, the fire that blazed within her deep pine eyes showed that.
Yet, as he continued her face suddenly went blank. Silence passed between them for several moments. Minutes even as she stared at the cat before her. He was asking her to... completely destroy everything she’d built from the ground up? Her heart hammered slowly, blood rushing to her ears. The silver tabby’s claws flexed on the thunderpath like ground as she almost struggled to breathe.

One tiny part of his heart hoped she'd refuse, promise to fix everything and bring back Wanheda simply with her presence. He was no leader, though Absum Lux might accept him as such for the moment. All the same, Zero simply gave a short nod once the silence broke and she agreed. No matter what sort of hope he wanted to possess, even he knew that it wouldn't be possible. Short of stealing kits and recruiting the rogues... the group would simply never recover. And even if they did those things successfully, there was little to no guarantee of stability.
"We should return then. Get you some proper food and rest before we make it back to camp. You'll need the strength for what comes next." He suggested, expression serious. It wasn't his place, really to be ordering her around, and he wasn't trying to. But it was hard to stop taking charge when you were used to it, and one part of his mind warned him that she might not follow through, though the more logical part understood she'd not have agreed lightly.
