Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
So this was DayClan. The unknown tom peered around the area he was currently sitting in. He couldn't see much on account of the twoleg crops but that was to be expected so close to leaf fall. Almost time to harvest. His father had told him about this place, a clan his father had called home for a short time, when they'd needed a medicine cat to finish training their apprentice. But that didn't mean he'd be welcomed in any way. Especially if the leader was as fiercesome as rumor told.
He listed his muzzle and scented the air. DayClan scent tickled his nose, more fresh than the border markers that lay just behind him. He forced his pelt to lay flat, as his pale blue eyes swept the swaying stalks in front of him. Would he be attacked or approached? He simply waited for this unknown warrior to make the first move.
Windchaser, a ginger and white Dayclan warrior notorious for finding intruders, had caught a whiff of his scent. Although, she couldnt detect where it was coming from. She was one of Dayclan's immortal council members and one of the leader's most trusted. She was Dayclan's most loyal warrior with impressive battling skills. She is quick on her paws and definitely not a cat one would want to tangle with. She scanned the territory, her bold green eyes were like daggers as they swept her surroundings. She lifted her white muzzle to the air and sniffed, "I know you are here. Come out." Her voice wasn't soft and welcoming. It was sharp and cold, more threatening than anything. She wasn't exactly the sweetest cat in Dayclan but she was strong and trust worthy which made her the fine warrior she was.
Out? He looked around, out of where? He'd been working under the impression he was in the middle of a field but as the wind picked up he caught a glimpse of an opening to his right, the direction the voice had come from. A trail of some sort ran through the crops, one for a monster of some kind, and as he emerged he locked gazes with the warrior. "I was making no intentional attempts to hide." He mewed calmly, unruffled as always.
He took a second to scan the she cat. Obviously a warrior, older, and very sure of herself from her stance and manner of speaking. Either a senior warrior or maybe a deputy? The tom didn't know enough about the clan's current hierarchy to narrow it down any further than that. He'd have to see what information she offered as their encounter continued.
(Sorry, I got the impression that he was hiding in the crops lol!)
Windchaser forced her fur to lie flat as the tom approached her calmly. All of her instincts told her to attack but she knew Glowstar would disapprove. Her leader was always soft and welcoming to outsiders. Windchaser's main focus was protecting the clan. That is what she felt her duty was to Dayclan. She was overly protective and defensive of the borders and her beloved clan. She raised her chin as he approached, narrowing her bold green eyes and forcing herself to remain collected. "For your sake, I sure hope you have a good explanation for why you are intruding on Dayclan territory," there was a low growl in her throat as she confronted the intruder.
(No worries ^.^ It wasn't to hard to work around.)
"I'm simply visiting." He mewed, tilting his head in confusion at her hostility. Usually his clam demeanor led to cats being confused and shifting to friendly as they spoke. He was beginning to think he'd have to work a little harder if he wanted to have a civil conversation with this she cat. "My father spoke fondly of his time here so I was.. curious." It was one of the few clans that had that honor after all. Even Absum Lux had drawn his ire later in life.
She looked at him in confusion. He had Dayclan blood? "Who was your father?" She asked, her voice still gruff. Just because he had Dayclan blood, didn't mean he was free to roam around. For all she knew, he could be a spy and using his bloodline to get the information he needed from them.
"Enigma." He mewed, though he didn't expect the warrior to know him by name. "Moons ago, he helped the clan when Sootstreak could no longer train his apprentice. Dealstar asked him to train Phantommenace until he was able to take his full name and serve the clan as their medicine cat." He paused. "He always spoke highly of your clan, which was rare for him, so I wanted to see what the fuss was all about."
"Dealstar was before my time. Glowstar is our leader now." Windchaser explained, loosening up slightly. "Pardon me for my hostility but we have been attacked in the past. I was involved in a pretty brutal battle when I was only an apprentice. Forgive me for my precautions. My clan comes first. My names Windchaser, by the way. I am among Dayclan's immortal council. The immortal council is basically the deputies. Once Glowstar steps down from leadership, one of us is chosen to take her place." She explained, keeping her posture firm much like a leader would present themselves.
"I mean you and your clan no harm." He assured, calm and collected as usual. "I'm just a curious cat with a taste for punishment at times." He mewed, his words trailing off in a purr of amusement. "But you can call me Mysterium." He knew it was a strange name, but his father always had a love for odd things. "Some shorten it to Myst for times sake." He dipped his head in greeting as he listened to her explain the way her clan was structured. "That's such an odd leadership arrangement." He said when she was finished, his blue eyes sparkling with unbridled interest. "Does the council share the duties a clan deputy would usually take care of? And who decides who takes Glowstar's place?" He knew most of the clans had their own belief system these moons so he didn't want to offend her by mentioning Starclan if they believed otherwise. '
"They do have the same responsibilities as a regular deputy. Glowstar will choose one of us to take her place. However, if something were to happen to Glowstar, either Starclan will choose or we would decide among ourselves." She explained, relaxing a bit. "There was a time when Glowstar went away and each of us were leaders of the clan until she returned."
The younger tom was fidgeting now with excitement. Learning about the clans and their different ways of life was something that would never get old for him. "That sounds like a pretty good system, no one cat would get burnt out trying to take care of all the duties." He beamed at her, his gaze shifting for the first time to the feathers on her pelt. "Those feathers are beautiful." He mummered, transfixed suddenly.
She touched her feathers with her paw. "Oh, um, thank you. They have meaning. Mine are for speed and honor. Not everyone in the clan has them but many do. Its a Dayclan thing. Usually if you are born into the clan, your mother chooses the first one for you and then you recieve the other when you are an apprentice." She explained, feeling proud of her clan and feeling surprised by how interested this tom was in her clan.
"With a name like Windchaser and a position as you have those feathers make perfect sense." He mewed, nodding to himself as he did so. "I'm not sure if you're clan accepts outsiders, but if they do.. Do they receive feathers as well? Or are they just for the clanborn cats?" At this point he'd sat down, no longer worried he'd be harmed and to enthralled in the conversation to stay on high alert.
"I'd make a terrible clan cat." He mewed, chuckling. "I'd spend all day following butterflies instead of prey." He tiled his head again, looking the she cat up and down. "If I'm being honest, I just like meeting different cats. You never know when a friend in the right place could lead to good things."
She let out a small chuckle, "being a clan cat is very rewarding." She seated herself before continuing. "What you say is true but I have only just met you. However, if you truly wish to be an ally of Dayclan, I suppose I could take you to meet Glowstar."
(I messaged Faith and let her know that she was needed in this thread!)
She smiled, "all right. Follow me." She lead him through Dayclan territory. Through the golden fields of weat, passed speckled fields, and through long stretches of land until they arrived at the ruins that made up Dayclan's camp. The entrance was between two tall stone pillars, a dusty stone path leading between them, feeling cool beneath their paws. The path opened up to reveal a bustling camp. Kits ran under the paws of the warriors in a game of chase, waterfalls thundered behind them at the back of the clearing. Some warriors stopped in their paths to greet one another before continuing their chores while others picked at the well stocked fresh-kill pile.
A golden and white kitten, nearly old enough to be an apprentice, bounced up to Windchaser. "Your back!" The kit exclaimed, brushing against the Dayclan warrior, purring.
Windchaser bent down and nuzzled the kit affectionately. "Hello, my dear."
The kit immediately stopped purring a faced the stranger, her expression curious.
"This is Mysterium. He is our guest" Windchaser explained.
"Hi! My name is Buttercupkit! I'm one of Windchaser's daughters!" The kit purred, her teal eyes sparkling.
(Thank you! I'm very much enjoying this thread, I have every intention of adding some cat's soon, I just love how Dayclan is structured <3)
This place was old, Myst's pelt prickled as he looked at the large pillars that made up the camp, older even than the place he grew up in. His gaze was drawn back to his escort and now her kit. "That's a lovely name, very unique as well." He mewed, a kind grin spreading across his face. "You can call me Myst, all my friends do."
Buttercupkit blushed at his compliment, "Thank you, Myst! It was nice meeting you!" She gave Windchaser one last nuzzle before scampering off.
Windchaser purred and watched her kit go before turning to Myst. "Glowstar is this way" she mewed, leading him further into the camp.
(We will wait for her to reply and if she is too busy, we can always time skip! But I kind of want to see how this thread goes! And I'm glad you like it! Faith has really done a lot for Dayclan! And has made it really nice! This is one of my favorite clans!)
