Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
The ginger tom lowered his muzzle so his whiskers brushed the ground as he sniffed at the low-hanging berries of the bush. They were round and dark, firm, and a few of them had been nibbled away by prey creatures. He didn't see any corpses around and they didn't smell poisonous so he guessed this must be juniper instead of holly. He ought to know and he really ought to think ahead before he brought them back to camp, so Flyingcolors could reassure him they were healthy healing herbs.
Instead, Brakewings straightened up and started to pluck a few off the bush. He hadn't been medicine cat apprentice for very long but he was looking forward to finishing out his training and proving his former mentor had taught him well. Flyingcolors would be quite impressed with all he'd learned, he was sure.

Cometwish smiled at the medicine cat apprentice who approached him and nodded. "Sure, you can come. I know you're a medicine cat apprentice but come out and take a break. It'll be nice to have the company. Loneliness is an ail of the spirit, you know." The orange tabby had a knowing look in his eyes.
"Thanks." He smiled at him, relieved by the offer and the understanding. He wasn't sure how he would have reacted to such a request as a warrior and was glad Cometwish was sensible and kind. "I'll just tag along and try to stay out of your way. I don't want to cause trouble."

He shrugged. "Unless you're trying to I'm sure it'll be fine. Come on, I know a good spot." He led the way and traveled at a reasonable speed. Not too fast, not too slow. He was too laid back to be in too much of a hurry for a casual hunt. "So how is it being a medicine cat now? It's got to be really different from the life of a warrior."
Brakewings trotted after him, his tail waving high and cheerful in the air. It was good to be out of camp again, just for a little bit, like a normal cat on a hunt. As much as he was pleased to be extraordinary, it made him wistful for the easy days of being just an average apprentice. "It is. Instead of hoping mice come to visit me, I hope they stay away and don't nibble on my herbs," he joked. "Really, though, I love it. It's still rewarding, just in a different way."

The orange tabby tom mrrowed in amusement. He never imagined a day where no mice would be a good thing! At least, no mice in the medicine cat den. "I can only imagine. Now you have super cool medicine cat powers and so much responsibility for others. Is it hard, learning all the herbs? I'm definitely made to be a warrior - I've never been particularly studious." Even as an apprentice, Cometwish had been known for sticking his nose in places it didn't belong, much to his adopted father's annoyance.
"Not as hard as I thought it would be," Brakewings told him, "but it's not easy. You have to know the name, and the scent, and the appearance - some of those leaves look really similar! It's hard to tell the difference between a slightly-serrated edge and a deep-serrated edge - and what it can be used for and when it can't be used." The ginger tom shook his head in wonder. "I've remembered so many herbs already I think I'm starting to forget them!"
