Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. He hadn't expected his life to turn out this way. He hadn't expected the events that had transpired in the last twenty four hours to transpire.
Run. Run. Run. Go faster. Run. Run. Run.
Things seldom went the way that he planned, though. He was finally starting to get that through his head. Everything he touched died. What was the point of touching anything at all?
Run. Run. Run. Go faster. Run. Run. Run.
His chests heaved. The physical pain was the only thing that could distract him. His lungs were on fire. Soon, it felt like they would be little more than ash. Yet, he knew if he stopped, if he allowed himself to catch his breath, he would bring himself to think about what brought him to running. He didn't want to think about it. If he could forget the last month of his life had happened, he would be forever indebted to the universe. He knew that this would not happen, though. Despite the cruel jokes that had been played by the stars at his expense, despite the fact that he deserved a do over, deserved something, he knew that the universe would not be so kind. When it rains, it pours.
Run. Run. Run. Go. Run. Run...
Exhaustion was beginning clawing at his mind, as was dizziness. He could feel himself hit the ground in slow motion, the way people remember their cars crashing into the median. One moment, he was standing, running. The next, he was on the ground. Yet, it felt like more than a moment in his mind. He could feel the exact milisecond his body gave out from below him. He could feel his bones colliding with the earth. He felt his body crash against the ground. It was almost as if he had been watching it from the outside of his body...
All strength left the dep- the loner. Once again, he was just a loner. He felt tears well in his eyes, but he blinked them away. It didn't matter. The life he left didn't matter. Nothing mattered. Nothing mattered at all, he thought as he let his head rest on the ground, exhaustion taking over.
It wasn't every day that a stranger came running into coalition territory right in front of Peach's eyes, but it certainly appeared that today would be one of them. His own various neuroses pushed to the side for a second, he bounded up to the tom's prone form, leaning over slightly to inspect the stranger's condition. He couldn't see their face from this angle, but he could at least tell that they were breathing. Thank god. I'm not in the right state of mind to dispose of a corpse right now.
Peach opted to poke gently at the tom's flank instead. "Excuse me, sir," he murmured, getting low on his haunches, "but I believe you may be somewhat lost. And possibly even grievously injured. Would you like some help with that?"
