Ghostpaw picked his way around the brambles, a plump mouse in his jaws. He glanced around the camp as he entered then placed his catch on the pile. He wished he would have caught more, but it seemed that the heat sent the prey into their dens. His fur was sprinkled with sweat as he made his way to the shade. Usually Nightclan cats spent the nights hunting, but he had decided to go out during the day time. It would never be comfortable, he decided.
Amber eyes watched the apprentice enter the camp and place their meager catch on the pile. Was prey running poorly or was it this heat? Frostykit's black-patched pelt had itched as the sun beat into it when he'd ventured out of the makeshift camp, it had been like this for moons. Though he'd never felt cooler weather, the younger tom could only imagine the relief it would bring to the forest. But thankfully the cave they now called home was cool in comparison. "Rough hunt?" He questioned the apprentice as he walked into the patch of shade he'd been laying in. It wasn't a shock he'd beed overlooked at first, his black and white pelt blended so well with the dapple of shade across the ground.
"It is rather uncomfortably hot." Bleakwind noted, the tom sitting guard duty in the center of the main cavern. They were still adapting to this space being their own, and some cats cycles hadn't fully settled back into NightClan's normal nocturnal sleep schedule. So it was decided a few guards would be placed throughout the caverns to keep watch as the clan settled into their new camp. "Fortunately we can't feel it down here." He glanced towards Frostykit, "Having a hard time sleeping too little one?" He asked.
"I don't sleep much." He mewed, shrugging. His mother was curled up in their nest. She probably had no clue that he'd even slipped out into the main makeshift camp. He glanced at both of the older cats, wondering if he'd be ordered back to the nursery.
Bleakwind blinked, "That's not always a good thing little one, any reason why?" He asked tilting his head. "You do need your rest so you can grow big and strong."
“It’s hard to sleep in an empty nest. Without my littermates it just feels empty.” He mewed, his eyes darkening as he thought of the kits lost in the earthquake. He knew many cats had been lost and injured by why had he survived when his litter hadn’t.
