"I will slay thee! Rah rah rah!"
Calamityshrine wore a face of pure joy as he snapped the neck of an unfortunate water vole that fell victim to his claws. It had been forever since he stopped murdering innocent cats. In fact, he had pushed that part of his past so far away he almost lived normally. None of his clanmates knew about his past. Would they still trust him and love him if they knew the truth? The black tom shivered uncomfortably at the thought and forced a smile to replace the frown. "No sense in dwelling on it. They love me now!" He purred quietly to himself before burying the vole with his other catches of the morning. A twig snapping nearby caught his attention and the deputy instantly spun around to face the source of the sound. A foul stench filled the air and his eyes narrowed as the orange pelt of a fox came into view. Alarm pierced through him at the realization that he was alone. "I can handle it. It's fine."

"Good. I'm glad you can take care of it," Coralreef mewed quietly. She was closer to the fox that she was to him, huddled at the edge of some low brush with her ears pinned back. They fox hadn't seen her yet and if she was very lucky, it never would. A recent fall had broken her leg and a rib and she was still healing-- which meant she shouldn't have been out here to begin with, but she was, and now she might pay for that mistake with her life. She wasn't sure the deputy could handle a fight on his own so she had to help, as little as she could.
